Hotel la Bella in Bergama

The good: great, easy to find location in a newer neighborhood of Soma, close to a restaurant with a terrace and a küftegi, a bus stop out front; free parking was available on the side of the hotel, with plenty available on the street out front; room was big, with 2 king beds, even though it was 2 of us; hotel has elevator and restaurant is on ground floor, so easily accessible for the hard of mobility; bathroom had separate enclosed shower with shampoo and soap provided; pillows were slim enough, not the usual overstuffed useless ones; breakfast was GREAT, with big buffet spread, served early enough at 7:30am.
The bad: the hotel’s 9 star rate is from 2016y, when was new and shiny- in 2025y is old, tired, badly maintained with broken hardware everywhere, no lights in the hallways, stained carpeting; the cigarette smell is strong from the elevator all the way into the room- not acceptable for non-smokers; the air conditioner couldn’t be adjusted from the remote- it was centrally controlled, therefore useless!; the trash can in the bathroom was full from previous users; cleanliness was 5 out of 10; beds were king size with one single (twin) cover per bed; mattresses were springy and uncomfortable, even though we like firm beds; the hotel appeared understaffed, as the receptionist was cleaning restaurant tables as well, leaving the front desk empty; price was 3000tl/night- on a high end in mid April, a bit pricy for the services and conditions offered!
Overall, I’d give it 5 stars out of 10 and would think twice before booking there again.

They were making renovations, so it was a little bit noisy.
