It was a good price, clean and everything worked. There was hot water in the shower and the bedsheets were fresh. I can't be any fussier than that at the price. The upper floor windows had a distant view of the Mausoleum. It's well located to walk to lots of places, though the area itself is not the most upmarket. There's not much English spoken by the staff however we got by and everyone was friendly. The place is showing some wear in preserving its retro vibe - it's like stepping into 1984! so slightly cool 😎 The downsides are: it's a smoking hotel and that kinda lingers and moves from room to room; breakfast was basic but adequate (several types of egg, sausage, cheese, olives, jam and butter and good fresh bread but no coffee!) Overall it's a good place to crash on a budget, no complaints.

For about NT$1,000 a night, I think the space is big enough and meals are provided, which is actually quite good. If I had to pick a flaw, I thought the elevator was weird, sometimes it would arrive but not open, then it would just drive away for no apparent reason.
