Overall and decent place to stay. Great location for getting around the city, our room was very dark, with scaffolding outside our window blocking most of the natural light. The shower was very poor, a trickle of water coming out. On the positive side the room was clean, bed was very comfortable and the TV worked. Overall a good place to stay for exploring the city and sleeping for the night.

The room was very clean, host was extremely friendly, and the location was within walking distance to most all tourist spots in the city.

Damp and over priced!
Room smells of damp - there’s a reason why there’s a dehumidifier plugged in 24/7. Room and bathroom need updating with mould on the tile grout. Shower is very tight - curtain smelling of damp. Only one small liquid soap for two of us over a three night stay. Unable to open the window and loads of electric adapters and wires plugged in. Room was cold as it’s below ground and the plug in heater was no good. Richard is friendly and responsive but £266 per night in August is rip off Britain at its worst…we know it’s the Fringe but not value for money given the state of the room. Avoid.

A great stay!
I had a really long weekend nice stay at Lantern Guesthouse! As a solo traveler, room 3 was big enough for me. The room was VERY clean and had everything I needed. The mattress was a bit hard for my liking and there was a dip on one side, but I was able to move over and sleep on the other side. Yes the room was a bit damp but that's just the reality of Scotland - there was a dehumidifier in the room and a heater that cut down the humidity level pretty quickly so I wasn't bothered. A note for other North American travelers: position the shower heater to about 9 o'clock for the perfect temperature!

Lantern is conveniently located near multiple bus stops so it was very easy to get around. There were also great restaurants, pubs, and bars in the area.

I'd definitely stay here again!

We greatly enjoyed our stay at lantern guest house. The hosts were very kind and gave us some guide pamphlets to help us find our way around the city. The location was convenient and very walkable! Thank you so much for the lovely stay!

Our host Richard was very welcoming and very helpful. The location was superb and it was quiet. Our room downstairs was somewhat lacking fresh air, very small for our luggage and damp. Otherwise a lovely stay.

The location was great. Richard was a nice host. The room was quite tidy, but it smelled musty and damp. There was mold growing on the bathroom walls. We got symptoms (stuffiness and cough) caused by this damp indoor air.

Lovely convenient location. Room had everything we needed.

The place was lovely, bed was comfortable and the room was just nice to be at! Richard was great in communicating with us, and was very friendly and thoughtful. :)

The location of the property was fantastic. Close to town, shops, restaurants, and tourist locations.

The owner represented the property accordingly in photos and did say it was a basement unit. Unfortunately, the room was extremely small with no room for luggage. Very musty smell and bathroom had mold on ceiling and tiles in shower. The comforter was not even long enough to reach to the bottom of the top mattress. Luckily, there was a wool blanket in the cabinet. A proper size comforter would be helpful.

Taylor Swift had just left town and I feel that the price of the room was very overpriced for the first two days we were there.

Great coffee and cake. The variety of cakes is excellent, including gluten and dairy free options. Lunch is decent, but a bit pricey. Baby changing facilities and plenty of side for big parties.

There is a handwritten menu in the window with the day's dishes on it. Good French cooking. I visited in the afternoon for a refreshment break while shopping. Service was welcoming and efficient.

I had a delicious gluten free flourless chocolate cake, which was served with cream.

The atmosphere was cosy and relaxed. The front part of the cafe is long and narrow and there is another seating area at the back.

The food is nice and tastes homes cooked. The presentation isn't that great but everything tastes great and the service was lovely. Lots of different choices on the menu. Really good value for good food.

Nice place, good food, friendly staff. Orders around the shift from breakfast to lunch seemed a bit much though... Quite a few orders didn't come through.

Some 'weird' menu items; but pick something you're are comfortable with and enjoy! I did dinner set menu of vegetarian antipasto, with the steak Main. Delivered at the same time so I could switch my flavour back and forth. Amazing. Top 5 meals I've eaten in Edinburgh in 2 years. Also heard some Beatles, stones and Cat Stevens, et al. Right up my ally (so thanks to whoever had control that night ;) )
Don't know about the deserts because I took a break to write this, simply because I want the meal to last longer x

Perfect place for delicious authentic Italian food, they welcomed us and our 3 kids- making the whole meal a fantastic experience. Amazing service. Highly recommend.

This is the place! Been coming to Edinburgh for many years now and this restaurant is one of the best. Cosy, fresh food, homemade dough and sauce. Just excellent if u r looking for real authentic Italian food.
31.12.2017 Brett
Looking for some straight forward Italian food, we came across the restaurant amongst others but we liked the look of the small bistro next to the main restaurant. The food is lovely and comes the ample proportions that you would expect from genuine Italian cooking but I would say that the outstanding thing is the service and the warmth of the staff. Authentic food in an authentic Italian setting. Great value too.

A most enjoyable evening one could not fault the food and service I highly recommend this wonderful Italian restaurant.

Avoid at all cost, the food was like from yesterday and microwaved, waitress was quite rude and disrespectful, she could hardly hear or understand what I ordered and yelled at me. My wife ordered an ABC salad and it turned out to be a disaster.

Seated for 4 people on a friday night, took too long to deliver our drinks, when the food finally arrived after 30 mins of waiting one got the wrong order, had to wait nearly 30-45 more mins for correct food. I had a classic cheeseburger and i was given the wrong order (it had bacon) seeing as i already touched it so i kept it but pulled the bacon off, it was nice until the 4th bite where it tasted sour for some reason. However desert was good, although you can not go wrongwith chocolate cake and ice cream, just wish there would have been more ice cream. While waiting for the check the machine went wrong and the person using it had to get help apparently it wasn't the first time it happened. For the establishment the music was too loud to have a conversation without shouting leading to a very sore throat. The waiter and waitress may have become deaf or hard of hearing due to the volume of the music

By far the worst experience I have ever had in Frankie and Benny's. We regularly go to one at Fort Kinnard which is always lovely. The omni one spoilt what was ment to be a childs birthday meal. Food cold. Service by far the worst I have ever experienced. Loads of server but extremely slow service. One course meal took 1hr 45m. Due to the long wait to play order then wait to be given food which had sat 10 mins under hotplate. Then trying to get the bill.
Never again.

I don't normally write reataueant reviews, but this restaurant at edinburgh omni centre is terrible, worst staffs, disrespectful, waited 45 minutes for food, and the BBQ chicken was still frozen inside, chicken breast was as tough as a rock, the steak was tasteless, the ribs just taste like meat with no marinate. If you want some real Italian food and some respect, don't ever ever come to this restaurant, and I mean it

Worst Frankie and Bennys ive visited. No atmosphere, poor service, dour staff and flys everywhere
