Absolutely disappointing stay!
For the price I paid, I expected much better. The room was tiny with small windows that let in freezing air — by the next morning, we both had sore throats from the draft. The towels were dirty, the only “toiletry” provided was a tiny piece of soap instead of proper shower gel, and parking was a complete nightmare.
To make things worse, at 8 a.m. we were woken up by...
Good: Great location Gorgeous architecture Lovely patio outback where you can eat food/ hangout Otherwise, at least in our room (34), we were pretty crowded for a group of 4. The pull out bed was pretty uncomfortable. We tried to adjust temperature, and while it worked the first day, we used the chat app to request assistance to reset air to no response. There is no housekeeping. No bodywash...
Lovely spot! Our room was in a beautiful historic house in Back Bay. Very Henry James! It and the bathroom, though small, were well decorated and very comfortable, especially with the added kitchenette. Commonwealth Ave is a gorgeous location and we were only one block from the shops and restaurants on Newbury street with many other attractions within walking distance. A very short walk away is the...
The digital check in and access was much smoother than I expected and it was helpful to use the lockers in the entrance hall before the room was available. The shared kitchen and seating areas downstairs are a nice touch and well-decorated. Our room was ready before check in, but we were only able to access it if we paid extra (which we just could not justify). For international travellers staying...
Great location in Back Bay, one short block from Newbury Street. Has more of a local neighborhood feel. If you like old historic buildings, this is for you! (Bed and bathrooms are modern.) Close to shopping. Close to metro to downtown.
Our first stay at a Sonder property, 284 Commonwealth, was excellent: clean, comfortable, convenient, and quiet. We appreciated the complete complement of comfortable furnishings, linens, kitchenette, closeting, and supplies…even a Homedics sleep helper. And the thoughtful blend of classic architecture with contemporary decor was very enjoyable. We had everything we needed and more. Thank you for...
A lovely vintage stay in Boston!
The hotel is an old historic house full of charm and character, located in a very pleasant neighborhood close to the public transportation, which made getting around the city extremely easy. The attention to detail is impressive — high-quality wooden furniture, beautiful wooden floors, and even a carved fireplace that adds a truly unique atmosphere.
The bed was huge...
The staff were super helpful and communicative. The room and bathroom were very clean and well kept. The included breakfast was also great! Definitely recommend staying here, reasonable price for a great location.
Really enjoyed our stay in this traditional brownstone. Clean, spacious room with lots of traditional features. Friendly and helpful team. Great location, the greenline stops right outside and there is a good selection of cafes/bars restaurants in the neighbourhood. They dont serve breakfast however there is an area in reception stocked with complimentary cereals, pastries, fruit, tea, coffee etc to...
The room was surprisingly nicely decorated; it would have been perfect if there had been an elevator.
We planned a short stay at The Beacon to do a tour at BU. Our experience here was nothing short of spectacular! Julie and staff made our stay feel so special- we felt seen and welcomed! They took their time to chat and get to know a little bit about us☺️
The building is old and gorgeous. Our room was so pretty and clean. Our housekeeper was very attentive in making sure everything was as it should...
This was such a lovely place and such amazing staff!! The building is just beautiful - an old traditional Boston brownstone built in the late 1800s I think - maybe early 1900s, either way, so much charm. The TV was great, spacious rooms, delicious coffee (kurig in the lobby but really good quality :)). The housekeeping and receptionist were so helpful and so friendly. They put out lovely pastries and...
The establishment was clean, staff were friendly, pool is on the smaller side, everything close enough to get a cheap uber
This hotel is super convenient, and the rooms are big and new. I'm pretty happy with it, no complaints at all. (My only minor note is that it's across from a hospital, so if that bothers you, you might want to consider other options.)
Really welcoming staff who made it easy for us to check in early. They had confirmed prior to the trip that we would be able to drop off our bags, but as our room was ready, allowed the weary travelers to check in.ideal for us post Boston marathon where we just wanted a day in Boston, rather than in Hopkinton where we had been staying.
Great choice at breakfast and lots of coffee available as well...
Good for overnight stay from Philadelphia airport. Breakfast was great with lots of choices for a buffet. They served oatmeal - my favourite and bagels with cream cheese. Perfect for me! Staff were extremely friendly and helpful too. Would definitely stay here again.
The hotel's food was just okay. It would be great if they could offer different breakfast options. However, I appreciate them allowing me to check in early when I arrived.
Hotel location is great, parking is easy, rooms are big enough and clean.
The only problem we had is during the check-in, we were rejected to check-in although the room is fully paid, the reception reason is because we don't inform them that we are going to be late, we were late due to flight delay, and already exhausted from the delay, hoping to be able to check-in, yet the reception adamant that...
A lovely room overlooking the street with an attractive bay window. Plenty of coffee and tea option the AM. No breakfast but a charming cafe next door. Helpful staff
This is our second time staying at the Newbury Guest House and again, we were quite pleased with our stay, though it was too short. Our room was simple, well appointed and clean; the bath has been updated and well maintained.
What we like most about the Newbury Guest house is the very friendly and welcoming staff, from those at the front desk to those sweeping the carpets or changing the rooms. It...
Easily walkable to shops restaurants and the common. The restaurant downstairs is excellent. We are definitely going to be back.
Perfect location for walking. La Voile downstairs is excellent and cozy. A lovely Christmas Eve overnight.
Perfect location, amazing customer service, and convenience of having their own parking. We had a great time and the room was exactly what we were looking for.
Great location with shops and bars close by, staff were very friendly and helpful and hotel very clean. Would definitely stay there again.
We had a great experience over presidents day weekend. David greeted us when we arrived for an early baggage drop off so we could explore the city. Instead of just dropping our bags, we were guided to our room, which was ready for us as an early check-in. It was great to be able to drop off our luggage and freshen up after our flight before going out exploring.
Our room (Albee) was spacious, and even...
I stayed at the Encore Bed and Breakfast while I was in town for the NAEA 2019 conference happening at the Sheraton. I absolutely loved it! The hosts were very gracious and accommodating. It was great to be so close to the conference and not be stuck in the hotel the whole time I was here. My room was so spacious and charming. My entire experience was absolutely wonderful. This will definitely be at...
This is an enchanting place. The facility is warm and welcoming and the neighborhood is beautiful. Reinhold is a gracious and engaging host. They provide a continental breakfast with breads and pastries that are excellent. The extras like granola, yogurt and cold cuts make for a great start to the day. Many fine restaurants in the area and a short distance to the Old Town Trolley. This elegant old...
Central location in a lovely neighborhood. Hosts are very welcoming, and the breakfast to die for!
I have been to a lot of bed and breakfasts, and this was one of the best! Reinhold was a treat: a great host, a very interesting person, and a great resource of information about the city and neighborhood. They were flexible in helping me get my luggage in early and arrange to have my bags in my room when I came back much later. I was pleased to see a generously big, modernly furnished room with...
Everything about Encore Bed and Breakfast is fantastic: location, hosts, breakfast, cleanliness of the room, decoration of the room. We used to stay at other B & B's in Boston but once we discovered Encore, we stay here on our visits to visit our son. We stay here 2 or 3 times a year and the qualities we like are always consistent.

The employees were nice. The walls are rather thin, the shared bathrooms were compact but usable, and at night, the radiator clicked loudly enough to disturb us at least once every night. The location is excellent, the communal areas are stunning, and the rooms itself were adequate. If you're not only visiting Boston for the hotel, this is a terrific spot to stay.
A wonderful vantage point for exploring Boston. Not far from Fenway Park, terrific bars, and fantastic shopping are located over on Back Bay.
The staff was friendly. The shared bathrooms were small, but manageable, the walls are relatively thin, and at night, the radiator clicked loud enough to wake us at least once every night. Other than that, the rooms were decent, the common areas were outright beautiful, and the location is stellar. A great place to stay, assuming you're not visiting Boston for the hotel.
Great place to stay. Rooms are very out dated and the bathrooms are extremely small. Cleanliness in room and bathroom could definitely be improved. The housekeeping sign was placed on our door as well as another guest and housekeeping was not completed. Not sure about any of the other rooms, but we could hear our neighbors in their restroom from our restroom. Over all our stay was pleasant.
Was received the wrong passcode into the premises and had to call an emergency number while being out during the blizzard early January. There was no person at the front desk, and everything was very eerie. Would consider going not during the wintertime, but an experience that was hindered by the situation. For the price, it was fair.
This is a friendly charming lay back place. My wife and I and all the other guests we have met adore it. Couldn't be happier.
Perfect for what we needed close to venue and great restaurants. Chipping paint, sticky floor and noisy refrigerator. Bed was clean and soft breakfast was nice and cookies at midnight were amazing.
Convenience location. Light rail station nearby.
The hotel room was great with a wardrobe room with a microwave, coffee machine, an ironing board and iron, a toilet and bath room, and the main room with a King size bed. If you stay long, they will provide room service once every 2 days. The heater in the room by the window works very quickly but can be too noisy if you have turned it on while sleeping. The reception area provides free water, coffee...
Friendly staff, a great wee breakfast buffet, and fantastic location and price.
The hotel is situated in a quiet Boston neighborhood, conveniently close to the Metro, about a 30-minute ride from the city center. The room was spacious but felt a bit dated. Storage in the bathroom was limited. Parking was available right outside my room. Breakfast offered limited savory options, although a pancake machine was a fun addition. The laundry facilities were good. Friendliness from the...
Nice choice away from the downtown. Clean, simple, safe and friendly - if you are in the area for a family event or looking for an economic option to stay in Boston. Safe area, next to the Green Line stop .
