The Hotel is located on Grant Street a short block from the ocean. A wonderful place built in the late 1800's, and it is carefully maintained plus impeccably clean. The room was large and light with several windows that you can see the ocean from. The restaurant on site is fantastic! La Verandah is the name of it which serves incredible food at reasonable prices with perfect service. And no, I am not related to the owners or paid for this review. It is a great place that deserves praise, simple as that!

Possibly a little bigger and a little less quaint than I expected but still excellent. Very beautiful decor. A really authentic feel even in the rooms were true to form. Tiny complaints, the free parking is far away, the rooms smell of disinfectant, and the windows don't open. Nothing that would stop me from coming back. Lovely woman at the front desk. Very sincere.

Me and my boyfriend stayed here while on a 5 day vacation. We weren't at the hotel much except to sleep and maybe stop in for a nap, but it when we were there it was lovely. The bed was AMAZINGLY COMFORTABLE!! Lots of people complain about the room size, but it didn't bother us. The a/c in the room was nice considering it was a very hot week.
The whole parking situation was a little confusing at first, but we got used to it quickly and didn't mind it. Almost everything you need is within walking distance anyway!
There really isn't anything to complain about! Staff was very friendly and hotel was super clean!
Definitely would stay here again if we ever vacation in Cape May again!

Unwarranted pretense. This hotel is demanding a price it no longer deserves. The heyday of years gone by is over and the posh no longer come here by train from the city. But they pretend here that they still can command prices from those wonder years. The hotel is tired, not timeworn in an elegant way. The halls are depressing and silently echo what used to be and the owner clearly thinks still is. Now the details.
The staff were indeed friendly and helpful. Parking is a joke about a mile away. It’s the best they can offer because of the way the town is arranged. I get it. Cape May in September is exorbitant but you'll find that if you're going to pay ridiculous prices for things that, most of the time, you'll get a decent value for your money. Not at Hotel Alcott. Even though they claim they can’t have their restaurant open (others do…see Peter Shields Inn where we had dinner) but they also said they’re “not allowed” to provide even a cup of coffee in the lobby. So, forget the free breakfast. But if you’re going to attempt this ruse then what right do you have to continue charging me $339 for a room ($389 after taxes and other fees). AND then you give me a very small room with a large brown stain in the bathroom ceiling and a grinding bath fan that doesn’t work. The room was over the courtyard which has had many of the plants that were advertised on their website removed except for the plants overgrowing the water fountain. Compare my pics to the ones they have online. The noise from unmanaged guests came right up into our window (yes it was closed. No, management appeared to do nothing when asked). Their own policy was quiet at 11 pm. It was 11:15.
Room and hotel had no amenities that people expect today especially if they’re paying almost $400 a night for a drab and small room with a 2001 small flat screen. Oh, and personal pet peeve; Put a friggin nightstand on BOTH sides of the bed.
Again, all of these notes may be petty but cease to be so because of what The Hotel Alcott chooses to charge (gouge) its guests. And I was seething at the misrepresentation of the experience online and what I got especially as I looked while staying there and the large two bedroom deluxe was only $30 more than what our tiny room was? Nothing like finding out I got ripped off while I was still there. I hate the feeling of wasting money like I did here.

We stayed one night at Hotel Alcott after Tropical Storm Isasias knocked out power at our other hotel. They were extremely welcoming of us and we so appreciated it. Very clean rooms (on the small side for a basic queen room) but a nice comfortable place. The location is good and it’s about a 15 minute walk from anywhere in town. It is one block from the beach. Would definitely recommend staying here!

Very clean, with a quiet elegance. Just a few blocks from the center of town. Our room was small but clean and elegant in every sense. The sink was a beautiful porcelain period piece, and the shower was modern with a glass divider. There is a basic breakfast every morning. There is no parking but they do offer a pass to a local public lot. We didn't find that to be a problem in the off-season, and parked right out front. There is a pretty courtyard, but the experience was diminished by the constant and rather loud hum from the AC units. If you want a quiet stay away from the buzz, this is your place.

Loved the setting and rooms. Parking good too. Close to the beach.

A classic Cape May Hotel, with decent service and amenities. They could certainly use some updates of infrastructure, the heat in our room was spotty, but overall a good experience.

The hotel Alcott is a beautiful hotel, we stayed over night after a wedding was hosted there. The rooms were very clean and nice. With our room we were able to step out onto the deck which was very nice. The only downside to the room was it seemed it never cooled down. Always hovered around 73 degrees I would definitely stay there again.
