From the first greeting by the parking attendants upon arrival to the pleasant check out by the staff at the front desk every interaction with the staff at The Charleston place was excellent. We will be quick to return the next time visit to Charleston.
Disappointed that the pool was being renovated. But the hotel was beautiful and in a perfect location.
Excellent luxury hotel
They had an air conditioning system issue during our visit
Truly exceptional stay! From the moment we arrived, the staff impressed us with their attentiveness and eye for detail—they triple-checked everything to make sure our experience was seamless. The location is a dream: step outside and you’re surrounded by charming shops, incredible restaurants, and the buzz of the Market. We were disappointed to miss a dip in the pool since it was closed for upgrades...
Our first trip to Charleston… absolutely the best place to stay! Exquisite, beautiful hotel, with courteous, helpful staff! Location was walking distance to everything we wanted to see! I will definitely be coming back!
This was such a lovely hotel with friendly staff. It is so convenient to all the downtown shops and attractions.

The elegance of this hotel has an old-world feel, which seems to pull you back in time to an era where men and women would dress up for every occasion. The craftsmanship and finishes of this building will have you in awe. The people who work here are all friendly and willing to help. This is a little on the pricey side, but we'll be worth the cost.
I had a decent stay at the Francis Marion Hotel — a beautiful historic property right in the heart of downtown Charleston. The location is unbeatable, with King Street shopping, restaurants, and historic sites just steps away. The lobby is elegant and charming, and the staff were consistently friendly and professional. My room had a classic feel with modern touches, and the views of the city were fantastic...
The staff is friendly and courteous. The rooms are clean and pretty. I love that Starbucks is practically in the hotel.
We absolutely loved our stay this past weekend. The texting feature before check-in was very convenient as they asked the time of arrival to assure our room was ready - which it was. Staff was very friendly! The rooms are very nice. Bathroom is small, but considering this hotel was built in the early 1900s, I appreciate the fact they’re preserving the history of this place. Beds were super comfy and...
This is the hotel I was most dissatisfied with during this trip. Apart from its good location, there is nothing else to recommend, except that the white guy who helped with parking was very responsible. Before leaving, I went to find him and gave him a tip to express my gratitude.
Great location, parking is quite reasonable for $20/day

The beds were so comfortable and they come with a fridge which is nice for storing beverages. Each floor has a water and ice refill station. The pool chairs are comfy.
The only thing I would say is that the pool food menu could use a little work. I would stay here again. Gorgeous lobby and great location.
Right in the heart of downtown, Mills house sticks out beautifully. The color of the hotel is to be adored, along with the details of art and history on the inside. The rooftop bar is large and has great views. Staff was amazing and friendly, valet was awesome and more than likely needed in the area. Will stay again!
Picture-perfect (inside and out) hotel in the heart of downtown Charleston, South Carolina in the heart of the French Quarter. Perfect for first-time travelers those on business and more.
This location is in the heart of downtown Charleston and within walking distance from King Street with great shopping and restaurants galore.

The room is very clean. There is a cafe on the first floor of the hotel. The coffee is delicious. There is a very delicious restaurant called Husk next to the hotel.
The hotel is really beautiful. I love that it's a historic build and is close to everything in Downtown Charleston. Housekeeping is wonderful. Usually you have to put the towels on the ground for them to change them out at Hilton properties but this one I didn't even have to do that. It was a pleasant surprise when I got back to the room. The lobby of this hotel is warm and welcoming, but trendy. The...
A very large & spacious hotel (8 stories) in the heart of downtown Charleston, very near to tons of shopping & restaurants. We had an outstanding stay in Hotel Bennett: excellent staff - only to mention a few of them: world’s best concierge team with Cassandra, Kevin and Joseph, very nice and helpful service in „Gabrielle“ . We enjoyed our stay a lot and will come back for sure !
We highly recommend the Hotel Bennett. From the moment we pulled up to the hotel we were warmly greeted by bellman Kevin. He made us feel very welcome by giving us a tour of the features of our room. The decor of the hotel is beautiful and very calming. We truly liked every aspect of the hotel. The service is exemplary. We loved getting our coffee and our pasties each morning at the Le Patisserie....
This hotel is amazing.
I has the best service from the moment I arrived to the moment I left.
The room was so pretty, comfortable and quiet. The bed was so comfortable and had lots of fluffy pillows. The stand alone bathtub was awesome. The lobby is gorgeous. The patisserie has amazing food. My only complaint is that the pool is small. Do not come here for a resort type pool experience. There is not...
We have been to the Rooftop a few times. Each time we were not disappointed. The drinks are amazing and the service was exceptional. I have to give an extra shout out to Cooper. He was there each time we visited and his service and attention was remarkable. We bring my granddaughter with us and he always remembers her and has something to make her feel extra special. Cooper is amazing and such an asset...
Best service in the US. Fantastic food and wine selection in the restaurant.
We stayed this past Sunday to Wednesday. We stayed in a suite with a pull out. We truly loved our room and every person we talked to was so nice. The concierge got us in last minute Monday night (many were closed due to holiday) at a lovely place bistronomy on spring street . Thank you! Most of all the drinks at the rooftop were delicious. We arrived at the Dewberry later, after a 12 hour drive, and I couldn’t imagine staying anywhere else! Right off the bat, valet was attentive, reception was great (tea and towel provided), and provided great recommendations. The room was exceptional! Overall, great stay and I will be coming back
I loved this hotel. The staff was extremely kind and helpful. I appreciated that they prioritize their guests - as a guest you get put at the front of the line for the citrus club. They also have vehicles to drop you off around town and let you borrow a car for 3 hours for free. At the restaurant, all pastries are made to order and come out warm and fresh which was a nice surprise. Spa was also top...
A truly unique and outstanding hotel. I second the comments several others have made about the service - simply second to none. This is what sets the hotel apart from all others. The staff are genuinely a cut above and I can personally attest to the extent they go above and beyond.
The design is exquisite, the Citrus Club an unrivalled location for drinks and the spa is sublime. If you are visiting...
Quite simply one of the most exemplary hotels I've ever had the pleasure of visiting. The design is exquisite and wonderfully particular to Charleston and the building itself (which is a mid century gem built in 1964). But what really sets the place apart is the service. Warmth and professionalism personified. We had a couple unique requests and they never made us feel like it was anything but an absolute...
Our wonderful experience started the moment we walked in the door! Delaney checked us in and was so kind and welcoming. We were upgraded and absolutely loved it. The rooms are amazing. We also had an anniversary and had champagne...
An exceptional oasis in the heart of Charleston. Great service, amenities, food, rooms and amazing staff. We stayed in a king suite, the bed was so comfortable, rooms were so quiet. First night here & one of the best places I've ever stayed. Wasn't sure where to stay for my first visit to Charleston, SC. With free parking, a resort shuttle to historic Charleston, & the availability of the water taxi, this seems like the perfect base to explore the area. If I find that changes, I'll update this review.
We had a fantastic stay! Definitely stay in the Beach House! It is new and clean and decorated gorgeous. The pool is lovely and there are plenty of places to eat and drink. The view from our room of the USS Yorktown was spectacular. We will be back.
The newest building is very nice. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable, and they have plenty of amenities. There are a couple of different restaurants and two or three bars, including a tiki bar by the largest pool. It is worth mentioning that there are two pools in this particular area, and these are upscale resort worthy. It's definitely the best feature in the whole place.
The view from our room...
The rooms were nice and spacious with hardwood flooring. Standard size rooms are plenty big for two people. Everything was clean and service was very friendly. There was a little smell in the hall but nothing annoying. The Beach side of resort seemed nicer and more happening. Pool was great with fire pits. Only one restaurant and bar but food and drinks are good 👍.
This is our favorite destination near Charleston! The property is well maintained. It has everything we need from pools, hot tub, fire pits and a gym. There is a fantastic restaurant on site called The Fish House. The Reel in bar is a fun place to grab a cocktail.
What makes this place so special is the wonderful guest service. Thank you to the manager Ryan and Sophie for our beautiful room with...
Sea view room, nice view, the equipment is a little old, but it can be used normally, the bedding is very high-end, free parking, not far from the bridge, strongly recommend everyone to go to the bridge, very close to the aircraft carrier park, 5 minutes walk, there is a free shuttle bus to the ancient town, in short, a good hotel

Shuttle bus was great and staff very helpful. Restaurant food excellent.
They offer a great breakfast buffet or you can order off a menu. Servers are very friendly and do a great job. We feel John and Joe go out of their way to make us feel welcomed and happy. Definitely worth a try!
Always extremely clean! We had breakfast added to our room price. The buffet was very good. Enough variety for someone who has picky tastes . It’s very relaxing to sit at any window and look out across and see the old “Cooper River Bridge”, which I ran once and Fort Sumter.
The hotel has been well-maintained over the years. It has been renovated and feels fairly modern. The beds are very comfortable and the staff are kind. We enjoyed the rooftop restaurant that provides a lovely view of the river. The shuttle to the downtown area is a great feature. Our only complaints are that the shower didn't drain well and that a group of loud motorcyclists hung out right outside...
Nice, clean hotel in a good location. Was bummed that you couldn't actually go out on the balcony. That was the whole reason we had chosen this hotel so that we had a place to sit after our kids had gone to bed.
The Staff was wonderful. The rooms were old. The bathroom had a lot to be desired. The pool wasn't filled. The shuttle to downtown was very convenient.
I wouldn't not suggest this hotel. And I have stayed at many Holiday Inns.

Stayed Aug 1st, 2023. I’m a return guest largely in part based on this location’s outstanding customer service. Once again, they did not disappoint. I’m hoping management reviews this for a well deserved “pat on the back...
When we were looking at different hotels and their amenities in the area, this one stood out the most. This includes the great reviews that were listed online. The biggest point for us to stay here was that it had the indoor pool and jacuzzi. This was for the kids' mini vacation. When we got into the pool, it was very cold. With it being an indoor pool, we assumed it would have been heated. Now it...
The hotel is great and the staff is wonderful, I would stay here without any hesitation. Brilliant location. Across the street from information centre and tour bus station.
Great central location. The breakfast was included. We made homemade waffles. The pool area was nice too?
Excellent location but this place is all about the staff. I stayed on my own on the 24th February nothing was too much trouble the staff were friendly and happy and nothing was nothing was too much trouble. They had good local knowledge. The hotel was clean would love to go back soon. K x
Great location, clean rooms, might need a little attentions on the bathrooms ( wheb we arrived it was not really greatly clean). Love the staff, really helpful. Downside no private parking lot, so if you stay for a long period of time that may be expensive.
No mini fridge in the room and there was a strange LOUD noise that occurred every few minutes in the morning (maybe from construction?). But overall, a nice stay and a great location. Very friendly staff. Parking garage is nice too
Very pleasant employees and super clean. Had a glitch w/ heat/ac but they fixed it asap. Only complaint was no soap dish on bathroom counter so that's pretty good.

The hotel is nice enough but it is ready for an update. I understand it is in historic Charleston but that's not an excuse to not update the carpets.
The staff are super friendly and the location is fantastic. The price per night is a bit steep for what you get but it is a prime Charleston location.
Hotel has lots of history. Citadel from long ago.
First floor rooms seem to be a little larger than upper floors. Staff is very friendly, willing to help. Breakfast was great, eggs cooked to order. Bar in evening was good. Lots of good restaurants and bars within walking distance.
This place is so cool. It is a nice place. The rooms are spacious and you get free drinks. Also, you get food at a time when everyone needs a place to relax after a day that you walk around the city. It has a pool and all the stuff you need. I am very satisfied. 5 stars
This hotel is really unique and its historic nature as a former barracks is really quite awesome. The staff that work here are very friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. I love how eager they are to help, really great attitudes, a real standard for how hotels staff should be. The room had a lot of historical quality from its former days. The place is laid out like a fort. I really awesome authentic...
Nice hotel overall, clean and quiet. Breakfast was good. Valet parking guys were super nice as was all the staff I encounter. But the double bedroom in the suite is much smaller than pictures led you to believe. Both beds were pushed up against walls, no walking space at all for those sides and no space to move them. There is no closet, so only an armoire to hang clothes and very little extra space...
This hotel has charm and history. I think they should make some of that history available. The service staff was great. Very clean and friendly. The rooms need some updating, though. As an older structure, the room is missing handy electrical outlets and newer amenities. Slightly run down. Always important, the bed was not as comfortable as I have come to expect at Embassy. I have stayed at other Hyatt hotels, and this did not come up to the standard of other Hyatt. The rooms were too carmpy where the others were more spacious.
It’s a beautiful hotel in a great location. They have a decent free breakfast, but no free coffee once breakfast is over. Tv is in a pretty rough location for the two beds. But overall, a really fine stay.
The hotel was nice. But I have 2 complaints with my room (207), the thermostat had a motion or light sensor so it would turn off if I wasn't in the room. Which meant it got hot while I wasn't there. The shower was nice but the water pressure was weak and the temperature was impossible to set. It was either scolding hot, hot, or off.
The elevators were really slow, sometimes faster to use the stairs...
It took quite a bit of time for the shuttle to pick us up from the airport even though we called ahead. We booked a double queen room and were told once we got to the hotel that they were all booked and we could take a king with a double pull out. That was frustrating. We were able to move to a double queen for our second night. The rooms are set up so that the bathrooms include just the tub and toilet...
Decent room, being close to the airport is not my favored location. Breakfast was fairly standard. Unfortunately they also lock down the TV inputs so you cannot use a person device like Google TV. One set of the stairs was blocked for painting, which seems a bit of a hazard, and something that should be easy enough to make happen quickly.
This was by far one of the best hotel stays that I've ever had. The staff were great and welcoming, the amenities were perfect, breakfast was great, and the hotel was very clean. We went for a family vacation, and even though it was cold, the hotel made our trip that much more enjoyable.

Super cute hotel, the decor and staff were so friendly. It smelt great throughout the hotel too. Only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because the smoke alarm was directly over the bed and was blinking all night. Once asleep, you don’t notice but it was very annoying when trying to fall asleep. Also, when the air would come on it would sound like someone was coming into our room- like the scanning...
Lovely hotel. The food was outstanding! Perfect location, the gift shop had rare items, staff were professional and prompt. Could not give it five stars because small details in the room were not attended too. Furnishings needed cleaned up a bit. Sofa stains, paint chips, some dirty walls. We were cheerfully surprised by a nice bottle of champagne in our room to celebrate a birthday. We will return
I recently stayed at the Emeline Hotel while in Charleston for work, and I cannot recommend it enough! This beautiful hotel is perfectly located in the heart of the city, making it easy to explore everything Charleston has to offer.

Very nice hotel, staff was very accommodating, breakfast area is very, very busy but they have multiple employees on hand to help serve everyone. Parking is horrible if you get in late there are not enough spaces available but they do have available overflow parking in a different lot. Overall a very nice hotel
Great hotel. It was clean and the staff was friendly. Several places to eat in walking distance. Continental breakfast was impressive, very good. The 2 beds in our room were small though. Instead of 2 queen beds, they were more like double beds. Just keep that in mind. Otherwise, we really enjoyed it.

Disappointment
We had a reservation for a King in the Enclave. With VIP access it should have included a complimentary bottle of wine, late check out, etc.
We we arrived we were directed to the Vendue building for check in saying our room had been moved. Why ??
Could this be a result of a 3rd party booking? -- AND the fact evelavtor in the main building was out of service during our entire stay. ...
Mini vacation
Lobby is beautiful and artwork is creative and funky. Rooftop bar was nice, bartender was great and food was good. The room well nice did have a musty smell to it and cleanliness was subpar.
Location, location, location. That’s really all that was noteworthy. We were not impressed with the overall cleanliness which was lacking especially in the bathroom.
Expected more given the cost and will likely not return.
Fantastic service, very accommodating staff. Our room did not have a window, which I preferred since it minimized street noise and I wasn’t woken up by the sun.

The Vendue is perfectly located in the French Quarter. Everything from the park, water taxi, shops, food, market, King Street, etc. were all accessible by foot.
