4 star hotels in Charleston

We were there to check out College of Charleston and it was perfect. Great location, great service, great recommendations to restaurants and more. Just a lovely experience.

We had a wonderful stay at Christmas time. The hotel was beautifully decorated. Check in was easy, we were offered a$20 upgrade for our room, which we accepted and we enjoyed our 3 nights in a suite- lovely! The courtyard was also decorated and the outdoor fireplace was always blazing. We liked having a glass of wine in the evening. We also loved “The Den” bar! The pizza was yummy! Such a cool experience...

Staff was friendly and helpful. The room was lovely. Clean, nicely decorated and the bed was very comfortable! The water pressure on the sink was weak. The shower was great.

Couldn’t have asked for a better stay! Hotel and staff are amazing! Beautiful rooms, lovely outdoor courtyard and wonderful restaurant!

Great location, everything is walkable. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We brought our dogs and the hotel is very dog friendly. We would stay here again!

the room was gorgeous & spacious! really appreciated the prpoerty's communication throughout our stay. every staff member we encountered was polite and accomodating. would absolutely stay here again!

One of the classy hotels left in the world!! Every inch of the place was nice & perfect inside out. Huge bathtub in the room bathroom. Perfect for a romantic couple’s trip. We wish we used the advantage of outside pools (which was heated!).

Awesome resort, nice quiet area. The rooms are incredibly spacious and clean. Definitely worth the price. Only reason I marked 4/5 stars is because some maintenance you can tell has been neglected. Towel rack was half off the wall, light out in the bathroom, sliding door to Balcony was half jammed, otherwise great place. Just few cosmetics that could be touched up but definitely would go back.

Our third stay! Beautiful and so convenient to everything Charleston! Great view of the marina from our room.

Some of the amenities we paid extra for were not available due to renivations. It was very disappointing and we were not offered any amount of refund. Our check in was not very welcoming either. The staff member seemed robotic, spewing memorized lines with no sincere or welcoming emotion.

Very nice. Few things: Broken latch on balcony. My husband was locked out. Windows painted shut. Cleaning staff friendly. Conseiasg

There were some dirty clothes left in a small dresser in the closet, but other than that the room was extremely clean. Staff was great. Housekeeping refreshed towels and wash clothes daily. I do wish there was access to a microwave for warming up food. But I appreciate the complimentary cappuccino machine and water coolers on the property.

We had breakfast everyday at the Peninsula. Excellent service and food. There were many shopping areas to browse through within walking distance.

The music from the dining room at night and in the morning can be heard from my room. Very annoying!

The room and hotel is beautiful and perfect location. Factor in $50 a night for parking when evaluating price point. Was frustrated that lukewarm coffee and tea water was served every day in lobby (mentioned it 6 times to the main desk) but it was never addressed.

Roooms were cool vintage charleston vibes. Hotel was nice and bathrooms were clean and updated. Parking isnt great and just ended up doing valet.

Everything was absolutely exceptional! Korey and Kathleen at Peninsula Grill made the experience fantastic. Liam checked on us every day and I could not ask for a better experience. We will be back in May and will not stay anywhere else but here. Can’t wait until May!

Hotel very charming. Dinner was spectacular both in terms of menu, service and ambiance. Highly recommend

We paid for our food, it was amazing. Staff were wonderful and helpful.

Staff was quite courteous, and the nightly cookies were awesome

Great stay. Good customer service. Breakfast staff was amazing. The cleaning crew could be more thorough. My room looked clean but I found someone else’s socks.

The area is going through reconstruction? Renovations? Not sure but could see a lot of small debris in room on floor- so other than that the warmed cookies really makes up for it. This was a very last minute booking and all was well!

Nightly Door rattle. The staff were great, and room was very clean. We kept getting awakened at from loud banging against doors in the hallway both night. Once at 3am and the next night at 1:30.

Pleasant staff and check in was easy. Location is cllse to the interstate which made everything quick and accessible. About 8 miles from donwtown activites

The French Quarter Inn was a pleasant surprise. The staff was very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. Room was nice. They came. in every day to tidy room, and early evening left chocolates, and weather info for next day. There was a line to call with different pillow choices. Happy hour every afternoon was excellent as was breakfast. Lobby has small bar. Hotel is within walking distance to many...

Everything was top of the 5 stars and we enjoyed our stay and will recommend anyone to stay there

We enjoyed the hotel very much! The location is ideal. We were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. The staff is very attentive to detail. We loved the pre-visit email, the welcome and goodbye notes, the signature room fragrance to take home, the wine and cheese party and the late night port. We met interesting people/guests in the bar, and the every member of the team that works there is polite...

Here’s a polished Expedia-style review based on your notes: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Excellent stay! Excellent location with top-notch accommodations and amenities. The charcuterie board time, milk-and-cookie time, and a great breakfast truly make this place one of a kind. The lounge area with the fireplace is amazing and very inviting. Rooms are fantastic, and the overall experience was outstanding. Very kid...

Everything was awesome, the staff, the complimentary treats, the location, room was huge compared to every other hotel we used on our trip (5). Nothing could have been improved upon.

The staff was the kindest and most professional of any hotel I have stayed at. They made every interaction an absolute pleasure.

Outstanding hotel! Wonderfully decorated inside (can you say "art work" ?), great staff, and in a great location. Our room had a beautiful view over the hotel courtyard...lovely! Hotel also has a great rooftop bar for happy hour or after dinner drinks. Finally, Eric at the Wine Bar is a gem ! I liked this hotel so much that I have selected it for a girlfriend trip to Charleston, SC in March ...

Overall loved this hotel but could not give it five stars as the WiFi to try to work is ATROCIOUS! I did a speed check and the download speed on laptop was 19mbs! Upload was so slow that the testing couldn’t even work. This was on my laptop. Phone seemed ok but I didn’t get steaming. That being said, arrived and the lobby was beautiful as is all Grand Bohemians. I love this brand due to the...

The location is very central. The hotel is nice with ample art throughout. The service was excellent: professional and courteous staff made us feel welcome. Very nice people indeed! We had an atrium view room. It did not have a window we could open, and no street view window. Thermostat was confusing to operate and they called an engineer to come and help us set the right temperature, which was done...

The hotel is clean, very nicely decorated. The art is fun to look at as you walk through the hotel. First I would like to talk about the cafe that is open for breakfast. The food is a nice start to the day. The best parts of visiting the cafe are the two employees that served and greeted us every morning. Gilly and Pande put a smile on our faces every morning. As we entered they always greeted us with...

Great location just around the block from many great restaurants, park and entertainment. The hotel is an Eclectic blend of modern art. it's like living in a museum

Truly a magical experience. Every single detail was carefully thought out and perfectly executed… the communication, the decor, the gracious southern hospitality, everything. The room was stunning and featured luxury amenities. The pool area was heavenly. The location was perfect with everything in walking distance. Evangeline made us feel at home and was so helpful during our entire visit. The owner...

Our stay was fantastic, The room, amenities, location and service were among the best we have ever experienced. The staff exhibited true southern hospitality. Definitely will stay again.

Absolutely perfect birthday weekend. This was our first visit but definitely not our last. The bungalow suite was beautifully designed and comfortable with a gorgeous view of the pool and gardens. The very best part of staying at 86 Cannon was the hospitality of the staff and owners. Charleston is known for its hospitality and 86 Cannon takes it to an even higher level. Can’t wait to return!

fabulous experience in every way—room and property were beautiful, staff was so hospitable and available and helpful. complimentary breakfast and happy hour wine and cheese were bonus delights. we’ll definitely be going back!!!

We loved our stay at 86 Cannon. It was a warm, personable B&B that made us feel like we were visiting old friends. The accommodations were luxurious, and the location was just a short walk to everything you want to see in Charleston. We hope to visit again soon!

My husband and I spent two nights at 86 Cannon, and could not have possibly had a better experience. Only wish we could have stayed longer. Our room was Perfect…. Overlooking the pool. We loved the Breakfast items….best sourdough bread ever and the coffee was fabulous.

Everything was fine, but we should have been told we would have to walk up to our third floor room - elevator was underwear repair until the end of the month.

Everything: it is an impeccable place, beautifully decorated both in rooms and public places, wonderful creature comforts like bottled water, cocktail hour, milk and cookies and continental breakfast delivered to your room. Amazing tour on Mon and Wed. Staff goes above and beyond in their helpfulness. If you want to be treated royally come here.

Had a great 2 night stay at this hotel, I can’t think of one bad thing to say about this place. Everything was just perfect, and the staff so friendly. Thanks for a great time. Hope to be back again!

Clean and spacious room, excellent staff and "treats," and great location - can walk to almost everything.

Staff very attentive, great location, nice wine and cheese reception. Rooms lovely and spacious

Attentive and helpful staff. Great location. Facility very clean and updated. Nice little perks (wine&cheese, cookies&milk).

Great property- only thing that gave us problems was that we could not get the hot water to heat up

The location was ideal for being downtown, which made exploring the area very convenient. However, several aspects of our stay were disappointing. Parking is limited to a nearby parking deck, which costs $24 per night—not unreasonable for the area, but worth noting. The bathroom had visible signs of mold that appeared to be painted over, and the toilet’s flush mechanism was broken—we had to manually...

Property listing is misleading in that it shows photos of a full kitchen but our room was only a bedroom and small bathroom at the top of several stairs. Listing mentions daily housekeeping service, but no one came at all during our stay to replenish towels or to empty out waste bins. Two adults shared a total of 3 bath towels, one hand towel and two washcloths for a 3-night stay. There is moldy...

Good location, able to walk to most locations.

We really enjoyed our stay at The Vendue. The hotel is very modern, with a fun vibe. The room was spacious. The hotel had some nice amenities like champagne at check in, daily wine in the afternoon and cookies at night. They also delivered pastries to the room every morning. The employees were all very accommodating. The location was great. We would stay again. Their sister location, The Enclave is...

I did not stay here but was walking by and ventured in to check out the artwork. At first we did not realize it was a hotel, lots of great unique pieces on display. Myself, my aunt and my two teenage daughters all enjoyed looking around. Thank you for displaying some amazing artwork.

We had an excellent stay at The Spectator Hotel. The room was spotless, beautifully designed, and felt so comfortable and elevated. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive from start to finish and made everything feel effortless. The location is also perfect for walking to everything. Would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend!

Hotel is very nice, breakfast is great. Melissa was super in handling our issue fast and effectively. Thank You! Will stay again next time in town. Hotel is also in a great location to everything.

The staff are excellent. Will was esp helpful. Great spots to eat near by. Walking distance to everything. Room and hotel were very clean. Valet parking is expensive. I would absolutely stay there again.

Impeccable property, beautiful and practical rooms, wonderful amenities and outstanding service. Loved the bar and enjoyed the butler service.

Location was perfect! Especially for winter (not on the beach). Staff was amazing!!! Butler service was so cool. Hotel was gorgeous! Would 100% recommend!

Amazing everything. Staff room, location, the bathroom size was my favorite. Bar was nice loved the service and the location was a highlight too
