Avant Wellness Hotel in Tashkent

Terrible experience. NOT recommend.

I booked this hotel via the Agoda app about a month in advance and received a confirmed booking. However, on the day of check-in, I suddenly received another confirmation email — but this time for next year (2026). We were completely confused because we were certain we had booked for 2025 (we even had a screenshot as proof).

When we arrived, the receptionist said they couldn’t find our booking and offered to make a new reservation on the spot. We were already confused and tired from traveling, so I just wanted to rest. I told him I’d rather book again through the app, but he insisted it would be easier to do it directly — although it would cost an extra $5.

Then he said their credit card machine was “broken” and that they only accepted cash. We didn’t have any Uzbek som yet, and he started asking strange questions like, “You don’t have som? How come? Do you have US dollars?” His pushy attitude and weird questions about cash started to feel odd.

Because I was uncomfortable, I decided to book another hotel online. But while we were waiting for a taxi to leave, the receptionist suddenly said the credit card machine was now working and we could go to our room.

Woah, it felt like a scam.

I don’t know if the receptionist was new and untrained or if this was intentional, but the whole experience was so bad that I’m writing this long review, wishing this doesnt happen to anybody else.

👉 My advice: book a different hotel.

We had the worst hotel experience of our lives. We weren't informed enough about the fire that broke out today, and we left the room as soon as we noticed the smoke. Worse still, the crisis management was disgraceful. We were told to pack our things and find a hotel. Since we only had one day and had already wasted enough time, we went to the nearest hotel they "recommended." We ended up paying more than we had to for a hotel that was filthy and poorly maintained. The problem here wasn't the money we paid, but their attitude. When I asked to speak to a manager, I was told they weren't working today, and I asked for a phone call, but no one helped for two hours. When we went to the second hotel in the evening to collect our payment, they were rude and inconsiderate, telling us they would only refund the amount we paid for the hotel that had the fire. We were disgraced, not only for our only day in Tashkent, but also for our transfer to our early flight the next morning, and for the worse and dirtier hotel we had to pay.

Not a hotel, but the epitome of indifference. There is no service in principle.

A strong feeling developed that the concept of "management" at this establishment is interpreted as a "natural disaster one must wait out." Basic promises, which are a given for any hostel, are here the subject of complex quests that the staff, with visible surprise, embark on alongside you.

Transfer: Booked and confirmed in advance. Reality: I was graciously "forgiven through the nostrils"* at the airport exit.
Check-in: After a 12-hour flight, I was especially "pleased" to learn that even by 2:00 PM, the room was an unattainable dream. Apparently, the maid was cross-stitching the bedsheets. I waited for almost 4 hours in total a wonderful opportunity to study the lobby interior in detail.

Service: The pinnacle of hospitality. My request to prepare a lunch box the night before for an early departure was met with the same level of understanding as if I had asked them to launch me to the moon. In the morning, of course, no one had heard about the breakfast. In the end, I was graciously handed a "composition" of bread and a transparent slice of sausage. I didn't even take it; it wasn't worth it, too much hassle. I was counting on eating in the room, as promised.

The only service that was actually provided (a free return transfer) was extracted from them by my constant, step-by-step reminders. I got the impression that my nagging was disrupting some kind of their internal, very important ritual of inactivity.

The room is clean that's the only thing to say. But when basic service proves to be an impossible burden for the administration, even the cleanest room doesn't make up for the feeling that you've simply been cheated.

I sincerely hope that the hotel management will someday accidentally find out what the hotel business is actually supposed to be about. For now, this is the perfect place for those who dream of feeling like an unwanted guest.
