Halong Athena Cruise in Halong

The Signature cruise that we took with family was the best experience we had in Vietnam. We had the Senior Suite with a balcony and jacuzzi - the room was very comfortable and clean. Food was commendable - we had a member of the group who is a complete vegetarian and they modified the menu to his needs perfectly. I would like to mention Hannah and her team specially as she took such good care of all of us and ensured we had the best experience on board. She was very knowledgeable about the culture and history of the places we visited and we learned a lot from her. Thanks to the entire team for making our trip delightful!

We had booked a 1N stay on Signature Cruise for Bai tu long bay.
We were picked up from our hotel in Hanoi, and transportation was good to reach the port in Halong. From there, Mr. Morning helped us get to the cruise, and was our tour guide. He made sure to make our group's experience unique, and we had fun kayaking through fishing village, and other activities on the cruise.

We were all vegetarian, and the cruise crew made sure that we get good and tasty meals on-board !

My wife and I went on a 2 night Cruise to Bai Tu Long Bay. The cruise was good overall (food and service). What we didn't like was that the whole crew changed between our first and second night. They were fine but compared to the first crew, not as good. We really missed both Morning and Ning. Morning, the leader knew everyone's names, and played fun games during dinner that brought us all together. Ning discussed the menu with us before meals and asked if we would like to see any changes. We didn't get any of that with the second crew. They didn't even introduce themselves. They seemed more concerned with the new passengers that joined the second day. We even saw Morning on land the next day and he remembered us. He always called my wife "Chi" which was very respectful. I would recommend only staying for 1 night.

We felt so comfortable on the ship. Mr. Morning was so warm, hospitable, caring and sweet. He really cared that we were okay. The tour guide Tom was also very helpful and was able to provide us with interesting information. The cabin (Senior Suite with Balcony) was very large and beautiful, straight out of the huge, private balcony. We had a great time and can only recommend this ship. Even though we only spent one night there, it was hard to say goodbye.

Signature cruise is part of the Athena Group. They own 4 semi private cruise. 2 Signature cruise each can host upto 32 people. Our entire cruise experience is smooth, pleasant and full of nice scenery. They really try to make it easy and fun for the trip. My favorite is the kayaking tour to private island, fishing village. Each place we went, we have the place almost all by ourselves. Quiet and relaxing! Food is pretty good too. Morning- our tour guid is very professional and knowledgeable. It is fun for our whole group ranging from 9 years old to 81 years old.

We did the overnight cruise around Ha Long Bay taking the limousine transfer bus from Hanoi. We booked online and from the outset the contact was very precise and consistently assuring that they had the correct pick up details and that we were comfortable and happy with the experience. After the 3.5hr bus ride (we stopped twice along the way) we arrived at the cruise HQ and we’re provided cool lemon iced tea while we waited. Again the staff were so friendly and attentive and that didn’t change at all over the two days. We booked the family suite which was at the stern of the boat and was large enough for the two adults and teenager son. We also had a private deck off our room which was also great (when the sun was behind us as it’s hot!!). The meals were great (we have a vegetarian and all meal choices were accommodated) and the happy hour was really great!! The excursions were just long enough to not get bored and it was a really enjoyable and interesting day :)

Pictures enclosed are probably better than any review I could write. From the very first moment we got on that, rather exquisite, bus from the old quarter right till we were dropped back it was just excellent.
Top five highlight
1. Got an upgrade for 50$ to a two room and two balcony cabin
2. Food: Sea food platter for dinner; pork rib clay pot on the day boat and the brunch breakfast.
3. Drink: happy hour! And good selection of drinks and wine on board. We bought a bottle and it was kept cold and bought to us at every meal
4. The views: Mannigicent with sunrise and sunset to match
5. Staff: Perhaps the strongest aspect of the cruise the staff are phenomenal. The cruise manager Vinh "Vinny" can teach a master class in customer service and Liam who was great before and after booking.

Extra highligh: It was my 33rd birthday on board and they arranged for a great cake with Song and dance.

All is excellente(food, staff, room..)
