Room and shower ok. I picked the wrong hotel.
Lucky we only sleep one night.
The cable was fantastic as was the wi-fi.
Air con was superb and well needed as was the bathroom the huge comfy bed and the amount of wardrobe space.
Everything was literally out the front door, taxi, grab a car, food galore, local stalls, franchise supermarkets, franchise shopping malls, massage parlour, cinemas, bars, cafes...much much more cheaper here than district 1.
International airport up the road as well as main bus route to all districts.
The prices fluctuate for grab-A-car to district 1 from 40-100k(cheap) dependant on time of day or night.
Do the touristy things in downtown Saigon...yip we regret the markets & food stalls (over rated, over priced & lack of hospitality due to the amount if tourists)
I recommend you spend a whole day in this area and gauge the locals and prices. No touts or haggles here...the prices are extremely cheaper for everything from food to shoes. 2k fruit, 5k kebabs, 6k ice coffee, 14-30k imported beers, 19-29k bun, pho etc...and 12 prawns, 20 clam pots...fresh from tanks for 40-55k.
You will see many open doors with women sewing, they can sew you fabulous Vietnamese garments or anything for less then 20USD... depends on the fabric you choose and what item if clothing you want.(not a suit tailor).
I can rave all day long about the pros, the cons are that one week is not long enough to try every store, every dish, every site.(sad face)
