Reviews
Facilities and grounds were well kept. Just didn’t like having to take used towels down and hand them to reception and exchange for clean ones.
We recently stayed at Mantra Trilogy Cairns and were absolutely delighted with our experience. Frankly, we had been slightly concerned after reading a few negative reviews, but our stay was far and away better than we anticipated. We will 100% be booking here again.
The standout feature of this location is, without a doubt, the unbeatable location. Situated right on the Esplanade, you are within easy walking distance of virtually everywhere in Cairns City. Better still, the hotel offers the best free parking right next to all the great restaurants, making dining out incredibly convenient.
The rooms were clean and tidy, providing a comfortable and well-maintained base for exploring the area. The service we received was great i think it was luke who checked us in he was GREAT.—other staff were helpful and friendly throughout our stay.
It's important to set expectations: this is not a five-star hotel, so if luxury high-end accommodation is what you're after, this isn't the place. However, for the price tag, the value you receive is absolutely fantastic.
The few areas that could use attention are minor but noticeable. The bathrooms are a little tired and could benefit from a fresh lick of paint as its falling off the roof, and the shower glass in our room was certainly due for replacement. The gym is basic and small; while functional, it would be greatly improved by adding some free weights.
Overall, Mantra Trilogy offers excellent, clean accommodation in a perfect location with great service, all at a brilliant price point. Highly recommended for travelers focused on location and value.
One of the staffs wearing glasses and short hair is so kind. Her smile made me happy
However, we thought it wrong our room was not cleaned once during our entire stay of 7 nights. We had to request new towels twice. We had to request toilet rolls twice. We have never stayed in a hotel in which our room was not cleaned at least every second day.
The bathroom had long term mould building up in the grout & only one very small towel rack, which was not adequate for drying our two bath towels every day. We had no small desk or table for writing or drinking our tea from but two couches.
Most concerning was the pool, which was a draw card for us & the main reason we were attracted to the hotel. The edges of the pool above the waterline were caked in brown or black grime &, in the many places where the tiles were missing, the underlying concrete or grout was being eaten away by glistening layers of thick black mould. There was also a gravel on the bottom of the pool which appeared to be pebblecrete that had come away from parts of the pool floor. Overall, we couldn’t understand why a weekly vacuum and scrub had not been conducted for what was evidently quite some time & why no efforts had been made to repair the pebblecrete or lost tiles.

Their takeaway service is also impeccable! Two times we have ordered takeaway and both have been great. One was two of their pizza specials, the other was gnocchi and the chefs special surf n turf. Absolutely amazing and very fast for takeaway. The bartender was very friendly and professional while we were waiting and made a delicious drink, the cyclone!
The service was very friendly and perfect and the atmosphere in the restaurant was superb.
Menu - many items to chose from and prices were pretty good too.
Food - the four of us had a good selection of food. Crocodile and kangaroo skewers (amazing) garlic bread (delicious) Chicken schnitzel (tender and perfectly cooked) Spicy chicken burger (beautiful) Bara Burger (really nice) Caesar Salad (very filling and tasty).
A few cold beers set off the meal along with their house red.
It was a little warm in there but the climate in Cairns would have played a massive part in that but there was a slight cool breeze coming through the doors and windows and the restaurant had fans going to help take the heat away.
All in all it was a very delicious meal, very fast service and I will be going back next time I visit Cairns.
I will highly recommend Outback Jacks and please do try the crocodile.
How this place is in business is beyond me... Horrible quality, terrible service, and kitchen can’t keep track of tickets. Poor quality aside, which is below the level of prison food, this restaurant is simply terrible. The space would be better used as a car park than as a restaurant. Kitchen messed up our order, not that big s deal. What did arrive was truly stomach churning. Most expensive cut cut on the menu was the cheapest cut of beef I’ve ever seen in a restaurant.
Outback Jacks is a waste of a great location. Their business model relies on ignorant tourists buying their subpar food (it’s a stretch to call it food). Oh, and masochists... I’m sure the self loathing community loves Outback Jacks.
Heed my advice, don’t take the chance like I did. This place is absolutely terrible by every measure.
That said, if you’re looking for a terrible dining experience with poor service and disgusting food, then this is the restaurant for you.
I think franchises lose sight of quality control. They should focus on consistency. Preparing a cup of coffee isn't rocket science. It's pretty easy to see this joint relies on passing tourists to survive. There's plenty of other low star ratings for this place.
