Reviews
We were in room 103 (ocean view) and were happy with the condition of the room. It was extremely clean upon arrival, excellent view and equipped with everything we needed for four nights. The rooms are basic and a little dated with some small cosmetic flaws but this is no issue for us.
Pros: Location! Walking distance to beach, shops, restaurants and bars. Clean, comfy bed, aircon, full sized fridge, very good shower pressure.
Cons: Slow elevators, outdoor furniture on balcony was a bit old and falling apart, Foxtel didn't work but had free to air (but who goes away to watch tv all day!?), no divider curtain between bed area and living area like the other rooms which made it hard for us travelling with a toddler who goes to bed earlier than us. Kitchenette was a bit pokey and would be tricky to cook a significant meal at. Some carpark wars due to people parking in other people's allocated spots.
Overall, we had a lovely stay and wouldn't hesitate to go back to La Promenade.
Very disappointing when it is called ‘Executive’ and it’s far from it.
Quite expensive for what you get.
Location and outlook beautiful.
Staff member on duty when we arrived was extremely rude.
.
Booked a night away for my family. Drove the 2 hours with 3 kids only to rock up, check in and when we open the door there’s someone else already in the room we had booked.
We were told they wouldn't give us another room and would not book alternate accomodation anywhere else. We were told to sort out our own alternative accomodation and they would refund our money.
The money was not refunded to me for almost 2 weeks and only happened after I sent a stern email!
I had called several times the following week to check the status of my refund which they kept saying was put through but the money never arrived. After this my calls were not getting answer ed or returned. I then sent an email saying if the fund were not refunded I would go to fair trading and so of course the money was then refunded.
Mistakes happen but the way this was handled and the way my family were treated was disgusting and unacceptable. No attempts to right their wrong and the fact I had to chase and chase to get money refunded to me is appalling. Just lucky I could afford and was able to get other accommodation for my family.
I will never book here or recommend here again.
A quick phone call less than an hour beforehand secured a table with clear and polite expectations, and despite how busy it was, ordering at the counter moved quickly. The speed of service was unexpected, with my friends ordering just before me and already having hot drinks by the time I placed my order, followed by meals only a couple of minutes later.
My eggs benny burger was excellent, with a perfectly cooked egg, well balanced hollandaise, and bacon that melted in the mouth, while the kids were very happy with their pancakes and the French toast with maple and bacon was a standout. Plates were cleared quietly and promptly, the table was kept comfortable without any pressure to move on or order more, which matched my past experiences here.
Prices felt reasonable and in line with expectations for the area, and the quality of the food made it particularly good value overall.
As a local who has visited many times and even stayed in the accommodation, La’ Promenade is an easy choice to return to and well suited to relaxed family or group breakfasts even at peak times. Well done La Promenade - 10/10!
NOTE: No photos as I wasn't planning a review and was enjoying the meal and company.
Cafe and Restaurants near hotel
The prices are exuberant, yet the food quality is BARELY passable, just. $17.90 for 4, SMALL, coconut deep friend king prawns for example is beyond a rip off. Having grown up in a trawling family, i'm aware of market pricing of that grade. Then i ordered chicken satay as my main. It was one chicken breast cut into 4 pieces, served with a bowl, of the most un loved, bland stay sauce i have tasted, anywhere, this cost me 28.90. My partner got the Chicken larb, which was ok, and bbq chicken wings for free on the 2 for 1 antree. They where dry, tiny, and bland again. Luckily, they where free.
Formerly a restaurant manager myself, i was hard pressed to continue being there, but it was my date night with my mrs.
The cocktails where nice, but lacked the fundamental ingredients of a good portion of alcohol.
The staff where great. The young lady that served us, was well mannered, prompt, and professional.
Having paid what we did, for the heartless, unpassionate food we recieved, we will not return. There needs to be a compromise.
Reduce cost of food, or increase quantity, and definitely, DEFINITELY find more passionate chefs.
The price you pay, really is just for their real estate, not quality food.
Oh the water views are great.
