Rydges South Park Adelaide in Adelaide

To be honest, I booked three nights at the Rydges South Park Adelaide because it is a four-star hotel. But I am disappointed to say that this hotel does not deserve a four-star title as my superior queen room is quite old and the shower facility doesn't have a handle and when you turn on the water, the water splashes around from the top, which makes a partial body shower impossible. You have to bring your own shower cap. And another point is that the breakfast is poor as it doesn't have a good variety and the taste is below expectations. We travelled from Melbourne and we have lived in many four-star hotels so we know what a four-star hotel should be like.
After staying for the first night, we decided to cancel in the following morning before check-out time and move to the Sofitel. But we were told that we couldn't get any refund for the rest of the two nights and one of the reasons is that we have already spent one night there. I don't think this reason is acceptable as you can not rate a hotel without experiencing it first. I hope my concern makes sense.
I tried to talk to the manager but it didn't help with the refund. Won't book Rydges again :(

The hotel is right next to a multi-way intersection, and the constant revving of engines all night long made it impossible to sleep even with earplugs. The noise was unbearable and severely disrupted my sleep.
