La Réserve in Knokke-Heist

We had high hopes for this hotel given its reputation and price point, but left underwhelmed on almost every front and cancel a longer stay we had booked for early next year.
Rooms & noise: Sound insulation was notably poor for a property at this level — noise from both the corridor and the room above was clearly audible throughout our stay. We also found a fold-out couch made up as a bed in our room, which had neither been requested nor was needed, and gave the room a cluttered feel that didn't match the 5-star promise.
Food & breakfast: The restaurant menu was decent but uninspired — croquettes with shrimp, tartare, steak; safe choices executed adequately but nothing that justifies the positioning. The tables were uncomfortably close together, making for a less than relaxing dining experience. Breakfast was the greater frustration: on weekends it ends at 10am, which is difficult to reconcile with a leisure-focused hotel, especially combined with an 11am checkout. On arrival we found the breakfast room full with a queue, and were told by a member of staff "you can see it is really busy right now" — not the response you expect at this price point.
Facilities: For a hotel of this size and category, the pool and lounge area felt disproportionately small.
Overall: The hotel has the aesthetic of a luxury property — valet parking lined with expensive cars, polished interiors — but the guest experience just doesn't follow through. The value proposition is unconvincing, and this ranks among the weakest 5-star stays we have had in recent years.

I usually love staying at La Réserve and have always appreciated the high level of service and comfort. However, my recent stay was a bit disappointing.

We had to change rooms due to a strong sewage smell and plumbing noises, and the new room unfortunately had another issue — the bathroom light stayed on all night and couldn’t be turned off. This affected the overall comfort of the stay, which is not what I’ve come to expect from La Réserve.

In addition, I noticed that the pet fee has increased to €75, which seems quite high. In most resorts or 5-star hotels, pets are usually welcomed with a small bed, a blanket, and sometimes a little gift box — gestures that make a big difference.

I still have great affection for your hotel and hope these points can be addressed so that future stays live up to the usual standards of excellence that I value so much at La Réserve.

Super Nice Hotel but Service is Not what you expect and know from other Hotels - Like the Bothanic Sanctuary in Antwerp before This stay. Room was cleaned on Sunday at 4pm there is no door to the toilet which is not good at all. Only 1 towel per Person in the bathroom and no Soap.
