Hotel Ambassadeur in Oostende

the pillows smelled so bad and i asked for a new one and they said we don’t have a new one but they told me there was one extra in the closet and that one also smelled so bad. and the whole hallway and the room smelled like food and it was annoying. the door didn’t even close good even if u pull hard on it. even onse small push culd open it. the cigarette older was not clean. and evrything was super nasty in the room(make sure u flip u mattress if u go there so u get the clean side)

This hotel is one step above a hostel, do no recommend.

First time in Ostend, I wanted to book a hotel near the beach and shopping areas. However, if you book here, expect no parking and to have to park quite far from the hotel, as the nearby parking lots are often crowded. When we arrived, the receptionist was rude. We had booked for 2pm, but when we arrived tired from the journey with our luggage, we were told that the room was not ready. We wanted to leave our luggage in the luggage room to enjoy the nice weather, but it is accessible to everyone, which made it impossible to leave our belongings safely. So we had to wait in front of the room without doing anything. Forty minutes later, we returned to the reception, and the receptionist finally told us that the room was ready. When we entered, we found the bed unmade, the sheets worn, hairs in the bed, wet and worn towels, sand on the floor, and many other unpleasant things. It was a real DISASTER!!, I have never seen anything like it in my life! Annoyed, we asked the receptionist for an explanation, who told us that the room would not be ready until 3:30 p.m. However, at 3:30 p.m., no cleaning lady had yet come! We wasted our entire afternoon because of this. I strongly advise against this hotel. If you are looking to stay in filth, then go there, but otherwise, move on. I wonder how this establishment was able to obtain three stars. It is money thrown out the window. In addition, the receptionist was uncooperative and unpleasant, even unfriendly. It would be wise to think about changing the staff at this level. The cleaning lady was the only pleasant and smiling person in this hotel, courageously alone to manage the seven floors. This was my first reservation on Booking, and I trusted the site after seeing the comments. I will not do it again and I will not book on this site again. Very disappointed, I should have looked for reviews on other sites. Apparently, many customers have had the same experience as me. I do not recommend this site if you want constructive opinions.

The lift was out of action for the whole 5 days we were there. Please check before you travel, especially if you have a disability. We were given a room on the 7th floor. Someone did help with the luggage but if you have a disability bear in mind there are 113 steps to the top. We were not advised the lift was out of order and there were no other rooms available for our entire stay. There is no air con, no fan but there was a sauna next door, ironic as our room was stifling. The stairs are made of stone and dirty with spillages not mopped, watch your step. The room was dusty and had cobwebs. The sheets were not fitted so came off as soon as you got into the bed. There are no mattress covers. So you will be sleeping on a bare mattress. Trip advisor lists the hotel as providing ironing services but the hotel staff did not know of this. They offered to iron our clothes but advised only if the clothes were not too expensive. The is no tea / coffee or kettle provided. Clean towels and sheets are provided. The staff were not friendly, they seemed to be defensive which is understandable given the circumstances. We paid £100 per night. We do not consider this hotel good value and won't be returning.
