We stayed at this hotel for one night. The guest was very nice and helpful. This place it is from walking distance from center. We had a really nice breakfast in the morning. I would give a minus fro the "old" smell from the rooms and the mattress was really soft (I think they are quite old). It is a fair price for what they offer.

Booked on short notice at around noon a double luxury room (70Lv) with breakfast and immediately got offered a child travel bed at the reception. This is a very calm and beautiful place, overlooking the whole Tryavna! The air is super fresh, and there are pine trees all around. You can have a very quiet and relaxing time, the food in the restaurant is fresh and good quality, and the staff is welcoming. The only minus I would say is that the building is itself a little bit old, and could use renovation.

What can I say? If you want to enjoy well-prepared traditional Bulgarian cuisine and the breath-taking view of Tryavna - this is the place to go!

Nice, quiet place with a great location. Our room had a balcony and was very clean. The owner of the hotel, Rosi, was always smiling and kind to us. She welcomed us as guests, and we parted as old friends. We will definitely stay at Hotel Rai again in our beloved Tryavna!

The yard is unique, there are two large trampolines, hammocks, lounge chairs, swings, a slide, many different children's toys, etc. The staff is very good and responsive. Rooms are tidy, clean and smell amazing. There is a place to park a car. Great location, close to the center and to the garlic tower.

We had to pay extra for bathrobes and towels (they were not included in the price—€3.50 each). They only filled the jacuzzi after we left, and the pool was too small for the hotel's capacity.

The rooms in this hotel were huge, with two big beds and two large armchairs The bathroom was a wet room so be aware and remember to remove the toilet paper before showering, otherwise, you will have very wet toilet paper. Outside pool and mineral pool we're great ,a bit on the busy side but that's life nowadays. Good room ,shower was a bit too "wet room" tv OK no coffee and kettle which was down on reception at £2.50 levs which u would expect for free for guests.beds not made up for the night maybe cos we were only a 2 night stay. We had a wonderful time! The hotel itself is located in a parched and features spacious rooms, clean and bright; the personnel is attentive and helpful! The restaurant serves delicious meals in large portions. Plenty of things to see at a stone throw distance ! Worth every penny!

The outside pool is just perfect. The fee for an adult is 8 lv. through the week. The snack bar is delicious and not pricey. The only thing that can be better is the toilet, it needs a good cleaning. I’m very happy with the overall pool experience.

I wanted to see the rose museum, the park and the Thracian tomb's. For me this hotel is in a perfect location. Free parking and super friendly staff. The hotel is immaculate, as is my room.

Would recommend it for staying as it's just across the city museum! You can order breakfast ahead, the room was clean, and the personnel was welcoming. There's parking though it's a bit hard to enter with a bigger car.

Excellent on all levels. Fast wifi, Wonderful but small and cosy rooms and maintained well ..accept for one small thibg: the shower head clamp which was broken and I, 1.91 m tall, wasn’t able to set it at a comfortable height. Nevertheless 5 stars from us. The staff was nice and helpful and also spoke English. We will be back.

We had a birthday party in hotel's restaurant. The servers were nice, spoke english, food was tasty and smoking area nearby was useful as well. The one thing that unpleasantly surprised me was lack of preparation. What kind of restaurant runs out of ALL sparkling wine when having a birthday party booked?

The owner, who is also the host is very polite, good cook and offer very good service. Not the typical local guy. The hotel is very clean and has its own small spa center with jacuzzi and steam bath. The menu in the restaurant is not big, but everything is home cooked by the owner.

We are really touched by the staff who helped us because we had a punctured tyre. The car rental company will not change our car be ayse they are based in Sofia. There is no spare tyre and no proper gear. If not for Hristiyan, we would not be able to drive the car at all. He helped us remove the punctured tyre, drove us to the tyre shop and communicated with the owner (who doesn't speak English). If...

The hotel has a great location, making it easy to get around the city. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Breakfast was delicious with a good variety of options. However, the beds were not very comfortable. Also, parking space is limited, so it might be a problem if you’re traveling by car.

The hotel is clean, well situated,near to the main attractions by walking (20 minutes). The room is big and so is the bathroom. We had a problem with the toilet running water all the time, which I consider is a waste of water and they must take it more seriously. Minibar has accessible prices, although we didn't use it. This was a well situated hotel, decor was very 70s. Beds comfy. Parking isn't fabulous even though we were told we could park outside. But it was a public holiday when we were there. Receptionist was very helpful. And the bathroom even had bath salts.

We had a short stay here, but it is a really nice place. Clean room, delicious breakfast and great hosts. The terrace where breakfast is served is so beautiful. There are some thin walls and a bathroom mat would be recommended to avoid slippery. Really recommend this place first of all for its hosts.

The hotel's location is great as it is near the main shopping street and craft street. It was also right beside the area where the new year's eve concert and fireworks were held.

Spacious rooms with a great location, but the air in the rooms is very damp. Combined with the fact that the air conditioning typically doesn't work, and it can be very hard to sleep at night.

Decent, but how other people pointed out, this is definitely not a 4 star hotel. Kind a communist decorated. The breakfast was decent. The location is pretty close to the center but the area is kind of steep and if you have a big car you will have a tough tine parking in their indoor garage. A very nice small hotel. I found it on a booking site then we stopped by to see a room when we arrived in town. The location is great and the staff is super friendly and helpful. The desk is staffed from 7am-10pm which was so nice since many small hotels don't have a manned front desk these days. We needed to get a taxi to the train station at 6:30am when we left and a staff member was there waiting...

Our stay here was short, but really good. The rooms are clean and big, nothing fancy. If you waant fancy go to a 5 star hotel. Is bassically down Town, close to a lot of good restaurants and bars. Perfectly located as my base for the climb/hike to the nearby Mountain Botev and the peak. The restraunt is to die for, if you are from an expensive country like mine. The prices are high for someone around the local area though.

It was listed as a 4 STAR HOTEL, but the room we were given was 2 star with a bathroom that had 10 square ft area, that had the sink, a toilet and a shower-head in it...we asked for another room but were told that because of a wedding there are no rooms available. So we paid for a 4 star room and slept in a 2 star one, with spiders in the room.

My husband and I are really pleased with Real hotel in Veliko Turnovo. It's a cozy and stylish hotel with large rooms located at an excellent spot in the town. The staff is super friendly and welcoming, while the rooms are nice and clean. And last but least they offer a parking spot which is really a luxury in Veliko Turnovo.

Very charming, centrally located and affordable hotel. The front desk clerk was also the waiter and the porter. Unfortunately, our room was on the 5th floor of a walk up with a winding staircase and no elevator. The bathtub was high and difficult to get into and there was no shower curtain. The room was small and there was no full-length mirror. These obstacles made me never want to return, sadly....

This is a wonderfully atmospheric hotel in the heart of the old town of Veliko Tarnovo. It has a cosy fire in the restaurant / breakfast room below (in March), spacious rooms and great views across the old town, down into the river valley and across to the Asen Monument. Staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast was generous. Thoroughly recommended.

This is located overlooking the river in Veliko Tarnovo, providing excellent bird watching. The rooms were clean, quiet and cozy. The breakfast was amazing, so fresh and delicious. I loved the omelets. The staff was lovely and so kind.We really enjoyed our visit and hope to visit again.

My wife and I have stayed here several times over several years. It is always a delight with a wonderful host family and cozy rooms. Out most recent stay was in the house attached to the hotel. It was just as nice as the hotel. I highly recommend staying at Hotel Gurko when in Veliko Tarnovo.

Do not expect a Hilton or a Marriott. No shower curtain, hand held shower spray only. New bathroom fixtures. No soup on dinner menu. Unsanitary electric tea kettle and coffee maker. Comfortable bed, HVAC works. Prepare to be served a massive breakfast one person could never consume. Owner does not take no for an answer. Delicious food. Tap water not recommended in Veliko Tarnovo.
