Reviews
The staff is friendly, there was a lizard in our room, they helped us to catch it.
Cleanness should be improved. There were stains on the bed sheets and towels. The bathroom was smelly all the time.
The room was full of mosquitoes and they didn’t even have a raptor.
Before this, we stayed in another hotel where there was no mosquito because the hotel did some preventive treatment around the hotel, plus they had a raptor on in the room all the time.
It’s a shame because this hotel has so much potential - it’s so close to the beach, nearby restaurants and the ferry. The staff were also friendly. However, there seems to be a similar theme that the hotel is very run down and needs TLC but remains very expensive. This was one of the most expensive hotel rooms we booked in our trip and it was by far the worst.
Overall - if you can, don’t book it.
And other then resort location is so nice and there is no doubt resort was really beautiful
But what i book the room that’s not the same and if you are not foreigner you even don’t get the good response from the staff
You can say they judge the customer with skin color
Break fast was Average not so nice and not no bad
But the location is so nice
And in the room there is a lot of mosquitos
During the several hours we waited, numerous Western guests checked in. The front desk staff were all smiles and helpful with their luggage, but completely ignored us. When we asked, they just repeated 'later this afternoon' and arrogantly told me I had to listen to them. I complained to Ctrip customer service about this discriminatory behavior. After their intervention, we finally got another room at 1 PM. It still wasn't the one we originally booked, but since I had a fishing trip pre-booked for 1 PM, I had no choice but to accept it.
When we returned to the room that evening, we discovered it stank terribly. The room itself, the air conditioning, and the drains all reeked. Because I didn't want to deal with those two front desk staff again, I decided to just endure it for two days. The result was that the foul smell triggered my bronchitis, and I've been coughing ever since. The damp environment also caused me to break out in many blisters. For your health and safety, seriously, do not stay here. I don't know if all their rooms smell this bad or if they intentionally gave us this room to mess with us. Ctrip should also stop partnering with establishments like this.
1. Had clothes cleaned by hotel and they all were shrunk. Shirts, jeans, tops etc
2. Sometimes room was not cleaned until late afternoon.
3. Breakfast was a buffet and they were constantly running out of food so had to wait for it to be cooked. The staff were not proactive when food was getting low. Had a jug of juice labelled orange juice. When I drank a glass quickly I found out it was pineapple which I am allergic to. I told the staff and was told they had run out of orange juice and had pineapple juice instead. They did not care that it was the wrong label.
4. There was no water on several occasions. Very frustrating when I was in the shower and had lathered up with soap so I had to rinse with bottled water.
5. There is construction of a new hotel next door so when trying to relax by the pool there was banging and drilling. I understand it is not the fault of Sea Star resort but still annoying.
6. My room was 26 stairs and no elevator. I had to go through an abandoned area which looked like an old reception (see pic) which smelt of urine. There was even old mattresses stored in the hall way at the top of the stairs which likely contributed to the awful small.
In the end I decided to check out a day early even though I had paid in full in advance. At $100 a night it is definitely not worth the money. Every night I went for dinner at a much nicer resort only 5 minutes walk away called Beach Walk. I highly recommend staying there.
