Anaya Koh Rong in Koh Rong Island

We had high hopes for this well located good reviewed hotel. However, expectations didn’t meet reality.

Firstly the service is generally good, most of customer facing staff are from overseas and care greatly about the experience of customers and speak fluent English.

The location next to the pier and beach is very positive and convenient.

The negatives are the bungalows are fine, but not up to 4* level and lack tables for the tea and coffee, no TV and patchy wifi. The outside bathroom is also looking a bit dated.

The biggest disappointment was the food, obviously there are limited choices on this side of the island so eating at the resort are peoples main choice. The menu was very limited, and many things were not available. Only 2-3 Asian dishes on the entire menu and absolutely no flavour. Breakfast was extremely disappointing and limited options. To learn this is French owned property with such basic food choices is very sad.
Speaking of which the owners family use the resort like their own personal home and staff as their own personal employees. It created a chaotic and noisy environment. It made us want to leave after our second day.

When we spoke to the kitchen staff about the quality of the food. They just replied thank you.

As many have mentioned. Other resorts on the beach have more choice of food and are a calmer environment.

I wouldn’t stay here again, it was not the worst but neither the best stay in Koh Rong. The management should take heed of the non-French reviews here and try to improve the quality of the rooms and restaurants before the negative reviews set in.
