Hotel Pelegrin Plava Laguna in Umag

The rooms are ready for a little renovation, painting the walls, etc., the parking lot / area needs to be cleaned - there is mud so it is slippery. Food can be more varied. The radiator in the bathroom is not working, so where to dry the swimming trunks after swimming in the indoor pool? The staff is very friendly and kind, so please renovate a bit and give them a nicer place to work. Also, many roads are now (01/2024) under construction and are difficult to access. It's also kind of hard to find the lights in the rooms which button is for which light.

Hotel is good, staff is polite, location is great.
However, food is terrible. From eggs to main dinner, just about everything is prepared poorly. Usually, I don't like to write bad reviews, but this is something that should be pointed out.

Let's get the most important thing out of the way. If you want to have a 5 star hotel experience this is not the hotel for you. Comparing it to other places I've been, the hotel is somewhere between 3.5 and 4 stars at best.

First the room standard is low. The bed not comfortable, pillows worn-out. I even had a cockroach. This is unacceptable. The air conditioner made more noise than cooling. Cannot imagine staying in the room in warmer season. Bathroom quite small. At least the service does clean up the room.

Second, the food is a lottery where you can find nice pasta or fish, and fresh fruit and vegetables, and than completely over salted meat or tasteless items. The selection is adequate but again not for 5 stars. Also the plates can be not 100% clean and very hot.

Localisation is very good, the beach nearby is sand and nice (maybe a little bit small) , but the hotel beach is all rocks and the entrance to the sea by stars frankly dangerous (metal bolts sticking out of the stairs!! ). Sun beads are black for some reason and they can get really hot. Beach bar was closed end of May.

Pools are quite ok but very cold water and shallow. Didn't check the sauna but apparently it's OK but small.

Staff and waiters are very good.

Overall a mixed experience. If the place had different star rating and price i would maybe judge it on another scale but it is what it is.
