Reviews
Firstly, we were greeted by the HEAD receptionist (viannis). Didn't bother acknowledging us until we said hello. He continued to read whatever it was he was reading until he eventually said, 'yes?'. No smile, no welcome to the Ajax etc. He just asked for our passports then gave us key card. No explanation of where our room was or the lifts, or timings for breakfast or where we could eat that evening. Really should not be front of house.
Our room (628) had an adjoining door to another bedroom where we had giggling and very noisy girls who came to their rooms at 2-3am, talking loudly, banging around etc. we had to put up with hearing people shouting and talking until the early hours of the morning. We eventually told them to shut up which they did for about an hour. You should not be putting couples who do not know each other in adjoining rooms, these should be only for families.
The pillows were the hardest known to man, incredible!!, we ended up wrapping them in towels.
Your staff need to smile more, they all look fed up to be dealing with guests, especially the female bar staff. She tried hard not to roll her eyes after she only brought us one orange juice when we had asked for two. Needless to say, when she eventually returned with our change, we didn't leave a tip.
On checking out, same miserable receptionist just checked us out on the computer, didn't say thank you, or asked how our stay way. Do I said to him, ' when people check out, you're meant to say thank you!' he just shouted, I did!!! No you didn't fyi.
The positives - breakfast was excellent and there was a wide choice.
The outside areas especially the pool area was extremely clean and tidy.
The hotel communal areas are clean.
We only stayed 4 days.
The reception staff speak good English, and are also welcoming to any question or request we have - from itineraries, help finding attractions, repeated requests for activities that would suit us because we came during a busy period, etc. We would especially like to mention Sakis, who was a professional, a wonderful service person, smiling and courteous, and if he is the one who greets you upon arrival, expect an excellent welcome.
Cleanliness - everything is spotless, in the public areas and in the rooms. Even when my son was not feeling well and vomited in the lobby corridor, they immediately came over and offered help and cleaned the place. There is a completely pleasant smell throughout the hotel. Very good housekeeping services - we asked to turn the 2 single beds they put in our room into a double bed, it happened within 5 minutes and with great efficiency.
The hotel is not very busy so the pool is almost private. Nice, big and spacious.
Food - We come from fine culinary Israel, it's easy to fall for the cuisines we're used to, but here at the hotel there's also the option of a buffet, and those who don't want to take from the buffet can also order from a menu. The menu is excellent and the entire presentation is very aesthetic and delicious. A definitely convenient solution when traveling with children who don't want to try new foods.
Electrical outlets - We didn't bring the adapters with us, so there are some to buy at the hotel, and even when my laptop didn't fit the adapter we bought, they swapped a cable with me so I could work (I'm an event producer, this is the season to work, I have no choice), they completely went out of their way for me.
So you also need to be polite, and it's true that it's not an optimal location (10 minutes walk from Columbia Beach on the promenade) but there are certainly people who are also looking for a more relaxed alternative.
Who said the breakfast was plentiful?!
It's just a typical Caucasian breakfast, not much variety.
There's a swimming pool. It's not in the city center, but it's relatively close, and there are convenient shopping options nearby.
