Many guests highlight the friendly and helpful staff, with specific mentions of guest relations staff like Reham and receptionist Maria. The hotel offers spectacular Nile river and city views from many rooms and the pool area, which guests describe as beautiful and peaceful. Dining at the hotel restaurant is good value for money, with the à la carte menu preferred over the buffet by several reviewers. Facilities such as the outdoor pool and spa received positive remarks for relaxation without loud music. Rooms are spacious and many are clean and comfortable, including suites praised for their size and luxury touches. Several guests report issues with room maintenance, including broken fixtures, poor air conditioning, and old or unhygienic bedding. Cleaning is inconsistent; some reviews mention dust, hairs on linens, and stained bathrooms. Noise disturbances during some stays were noted, including early morning calls to prayer, construction noise, and noisy beds. Service quality varies, with some guests experiencing indifferent or cold attitudes at reception and slow restaurant service. The location’s hillside position can be inconvenient without transport due to steep climbs and occasional unreliable local drivers.

Description

Basma Hotel in Aswan is a four-star property established in 1999 and renovated in 2012, featuring 210 rooms spread over six floors. It offers a variety of room types including suites with Nile river views and terrace studios. Guests can expect air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, and amenities such as an outdoor pool, bar, restaurant with buffet and à la carte options, and a spa and wellness center. The hotel’s service generally receives positive feedback, with staff frequently described as friendly and attentive, especially in guest relations and at the front desk. Rooms vary in condition; some guests praised the cleanliness and comfort, while others noted that some furnishings and bathroom fixtures are dated or in need of repair. Dining options at the hotel are considered good value, with particular praise for the à la carte menu. Practical facilities include a business center, meeting rooms, car hire, and free parking. Check-in begins at 14:00 and check-out is by 12:00.

Location

Situated in Aswan directly opposite the Nubian Museum, Basma Hotel provides easy access to local cultural sites. The hotel is located 14 kilometers from Aswan International Airport (ASW). Agha Khan Tomb, a historic landmark rated 5/10 by visitors, is approximately 1.4 kilometers away. Nearby dining options include Le Pacha Cafe, just 78 meters from the hotel. The property’s hilltop location affords many rooms panoramic views of the Nile River and cityscape, though some guests report that not all rooms or the restaurant have Nile views. The hotel’s position on a hillside means walking back can involve a steep climb, which may be relevant if you plan to explore on foot without a car or driver.

Had a great massage during this stay, as well as well priced food and drinks at the hotel restaurant.

Seeing the low rating, I expected the place to be quite run-down, but it was actually very good. The room wasn't new but it was clean, tidy, and comfortable, with a nice view. The restaurant, in particular, was excellent value for money; definitely order à la carte instead of the buffet.

Our room was on the first floor and had some mosquitoes, but the surroundings were beautiful, located on a hillside overlooking the Nile. The facilities were comprehensive, and the front desk service was very warm and welcoming. Watching the sunset here was particularly stunning.

The room facilities are very old, and some are broken. When I reported issues to maintenance, their service was pretty hit-or-miss. They didn't seem to pay much attention to some safety-related problems either. They were quick to respond when I asked for repairs, but either didn't fix them properly or didn't consider them actual problems.

Nice location with a good view. Received a free upgrade at check-in.

Out of the five hotels I stayed at in Egypt, this one wasn't cheap, but the experience was just okay. The photos made it look great, but the hotel itself isn't that big. It's located on a hill next to the Old Cataract, so walking back means a steep climb. I even had an unreliable driver try to charge extra just because of the hill – unbelievable! 😓 The front desk staff's attitude was so-so, and they gave me a ground-floor room. I seriously suspect the housekeeping staff tampered with my foundation bottle. The cap was open, and a few drops had spilled out. The more I thought about it later, the more I realized it definitely wasn't my doing. If you're staying here, I'd recommend keeping your personal items locked in your luggage! The buffet restaurant's food was mediocre, but the coffee was decent.

Basma hotel is good value. They've updated and modernize all the rooms and public areas. The staff are very welcoming and friendly. If you have to leave early in the morning and can't make the excellent breakfast buffet, you can ask for a breakfast box.

The best option is Basma for it's price.

Great hotel, good rooms, great buffet breakfast, however the shower was not great (very weak) and lack of attention to guests from some of the staff, especially at late check-in.

The hotel was extremely poor value for money. The bedding was very old and looked unhygienic, and the service attitude was extremely cold. I booked a double bed but was given two single beds, and when I booked two single beds, they gave me a triple room instead. The entire property is outdated and absolutely not worth the price!

The room is full of dust. I need to wear a slipper that I took from Marriott. and you can see how the dust is in the room in the picture. however the staff is very helpful.
