Description

Pyramisa Island Aswan Hotel is a five-star resort established in 1992 and renovated in 2009, uniquely situated on Isis Island in the middle of the Nile River. The hotel comprises a main five-story building plus two two-story villas, offering a total of 450 rooms ranging from Single rooms to Presidential Suites and garden-view chalets. Guests can enjoy three restaurants including two à la carte options, a heated outdoor pool, and extensive kid-friendly facilities such as heated children’s pool sections and a playground. The hotel provides a complimentary boat shuttle every 20 minutes connecting the island to the city, facilitating easy access despite its island location. While the rooms and some facilities show signs of aging and could benefit from refurbishment, the scenic Nile views and tranquil island setting remain strong draws for visitors seeking a calmer pace. Services like currency exchange, laundry, conference facilities, and spa treatments are available, though many come at an additional cost.

Location

The hotel is located on Isis Island, approximately 14 km from Aswan International Airport (ASW) and about 1.5 km from Aswan city center. The island location requires guests to use the hotel’s free shuttle boat, which runs every 20 minutes and takes around 5 to 7 minutes to cross the Nile. The hotel sits opposite the Old Cataract Hotel and is close to the historic Agha Khan Tomb, which lies less than 1 km away. This positioning offers guests scenic Nile views and a peaceful environment away from the city hustle, though you should factor in the boat transfer time when planning your arrival and excursions.

Tips

  • Plan extra time for your transfers since reaching the hotel requires a boat ride from the city dock.
  • If you have mobility issues or heavy luggage, request assistance as help is available but often tip-based.
  • Consider booking rooms with Nile views and balconies for the best scenery, and bring some personal toiletries or disposable linens if you are sensitive to cleanliness based on mixed housekeeping reviews.

Much better than expected! The Nile view is stunning. Breakfast wasn't really suited for Chinese tastes, but the front desk lady was super nice. She even helped our friends, who were staying at another hotel, store their luggage.

This was my favorite hotel! The views were absolutely stunning, and we were incredibly satisfied with every service, from the boatman who picked us up to the moment we checked out. The only minor thing was that the breakfast wasn't quite to our taste, but everything else gets a five-star rating!

The hotel is located on the island, which is accessible by a complimentary hotel boat running every 20 minutes. The views are breathtaking and the overall atmosphere of the island is beautiful.

The staff were very helpful and provided excellent service. However, the rooms are quite dated and not very clean. The bathroom doesn't have separate wet and dry zones, so water splashes everywhere when showering. Most of the amenities in the room felt old and worn out. It’s a great place for the scenery, but the room facilities definitely need improvement.

The hotel is beautiful, and you have to take a boat to check in. However, don't listen to the staff on the boat. We arrived at the pier, and there was a boat ready to depart. The staff said it was a bit crowded and asked if we wanted to wait for the next one, which was in ten minutes. We ended up waiting for over half an hour at the pier, from daylight until dark, for the next boat to arrive.

When we got to the hotel, we had booked a king-size bed room, but the front desk gave us a twin room. We went back to the front desk to negotiate a room change. They gave us a key and told us to move our luggage ourselves. After changing rooms, they asked us to return the original room's key to the lobby.

The breakfast and dinner included with the hotel stay were absolutely terrible, but there were no other options, so we had to accept it.

What was absolutely, utterly unbearable was how dirty the room was. When I pulled back the duvet, there was a strong smell of foot odor. The showerhead, which was supposed to be fixed to the ceiling, was half-detached. Everything, from the floor to the bed, tables, chairs, and the entire bathroom, was incredibly dirty.

Overall, the experience was just okay. We could take the complimentary boat shuttle between the dock and the hotel every day, which was a nice little Nile River cruise. The room facilities were a bit old but clean enough. The pool staff were quite enthusiastic. The only downside was breakfast. Perhaps because it was close to Ramadan, the dining area was overflowing with people. The food selection wasn't extensive, and the quality was just average. You even had to queue for a long time just to get coffee from the machine.

The room decor feels a bit dated, but it was incredibly clean, which made for a great stay! The shuttle boat runs frequently, and there's parking at the dock, making arrivals and departures very convenient. Breakfast and dinner options were fairly standard, but sufficient. Our room, 506, had a balcony facing the east bank of the Nile, which was not sunny and offered a fantastic view. Overall, highly recommended! 👍👍

The location is super convenient, directly accessible by boat, making it easy to catch both sunrise and sunset. The hotel's facilities are a bit dated, and the service could be a bit warmer. However, the overall environment of the hotel is excellent, and the restaurant is great with delicious food.

The hotel's exterior and the rooms themselves are like night and day. I'm not sure how this place got a five-star rating; the only thing worth praising was the breakfast bread and pastries. There were so many insects, and even the bug spray I brought didn't help. I killed eight mosquitoes in the room in one day – who can believe that?!

After staying at a noisy hotel in Luxor where I couldn't sleep, I hoped this island hotel in Aswan would be quiet. I planned to go to bed at 8 PM to get an early start for Abu Simbel, but there was entertainment until 11 PM. I had to go to the front desk three times before they finally stopped the loud music. It was also inconvenient lugging heavy suitcases with no service, and you have to take a ferry to get there. When I arrived, finding parking was a nightmare; I waited 30 minutes for a spot.

Room was very old and not clean. We booked a king room and were given a twin room. They did move us to the correct room eventually after some arguing. Food at the restaurant was good with large variety.
Communication was poor, we emailed the hotel 3 times in the lead up to find out how to get to the island and received no response.
