Reviews
Let me walk you through the journey that I had at Heymos 1.
It all began with a rather weird check-in. I am generally reluctant to check into a hotel by clicking on a random machine and hoping the technology gods are merciful with me and everything works well (I did not have this experience too often before, but that's another story). The lady at the counter did not tell me anything; she just handed out the card. However, I was drained, so I didn't ask (my bad, right?). I walked up through the hallway, which already gave me the creeps just walking through, because it reminded me of a shabby youth hostel. Not wanting to judge a book by its cover, I walked into the room and recognized that it was not just the cover that was kind of ... kept simple.
First and foremost, the pictures shown on booking.com are taken quite conveniently. They do not lie, but they are taken conveniently. This room did not have anything I needed for a business trip. The room does not have an iron (I brought my steamer, so that's ok), it does not have one even place where you can actually steam/iron your stuff, the room does not have a wardrobe (nope, not at all, just a very small hanger that can take exactly 2 clothes), a table that cannot carry a laptop and the phone, and no bedside table. There wasn’t a real chair for the A4-sized table, but rather a folding chair attached to the wall, which longingly reminded me of a time at a festival or a cute little café in Cambodia — but less of a hotel room for a business trip.
To make matters worse, there was no kettle either (which forced me to make a 5-minute terrine with hot water from the sink - not recommendable). Well, walking to the bathroom I recognized that it only contained single-ply toilet paper which forced me to develop folding skills just to be able to use the toilet. Ironically, a rather confusing sign by the bed smiled at me, reminding me that there was no room service, because that was supposedly much more sustainable. Whether half a ton of self-folded toilet paper is really more sustainable than simply using multi-ply paper, I seriously doubt. Talking about the room service. After 3 days living in my own dirt, I hang out the sign for room service.
I returned after a long workday just to recognize that I have not received a room service. Well - bad luck but however, right? Well, I thought this until I stumbled over the !!! full !!! trash bag from my bathroom, which was standing open in the middle of my room, spreading its lovely scent. To top it all off, the person who had at least been in my room had also ‘disposed of’ my own shampoo that I had brought with me from the shower.
Checkout was smooth "why did you wait for me - just throw the card in here?!?" from the lovely employee at the front desk. I cannot comment on the bed, as I just fall asleep quite quickly independent of where I am.
I want to mention that some of my colleagues have been to this hotel and that each and everyone said this was one of the worst business hotels they have ever been to.
