Hôtel & Spa – Thalazur Saint Jean de Luz in St. Jean-de-Luz

This is a very comfortable and pretty hotel in an excellent location facing a large beach with wonderful sunrises and sunsets. The rooms are very comfortable and the beds have super sheets! The rooms are well soundproofed, so you can't hear any noise from the hallway. Breakfast was extraordinarily good. All the products were of a really high quality and carefully selected to showcase the best of the Basque Country and other regions of France, such as "apricots from Roussillon" etc. The food was served in a very spacious and bright dining room with a sea view. I can't think of any negative points about the hotel, although the spa could be improved. Overall, it was a good experience, but it could have been better. Firstly, I found it strange that there wasn't a source of drinking water next to the saunas. To get any water to drink, you have to leave the spa, and you need a card to pass through, so it's not very convenient to carry it while you're wet after the sauna and shower. It would also be nice to have a box of tissues and a bin in the relaxation rooms, as this is something you naturally want after a sauna experience. The relaxation rooms lack a cosy atmosphere. It is a cold and dull atmosphere. It would be nice to decorate it, diffuse some essential oils, provide some soft blankets and nice lights, etc. It would also be good to have cleaners around all day to maintain high hygiene standards.

The spa experience is lovely, especially on cold rainy winter days when you are craving a dip in the ocean. This is a perfect escape in their indoor pool with heater ocean water and various jets that are great for decompressing. I only wish there was more facilities available such as food and water (or at least spa water!) so that it can be a place to spend even more time in.

The spa is magical. One can heat up in the huge steamy hammam, then walk out and take a dip in the ocean. I did this in winter and I absolutely loved it.

This place is fabulous! Here are a few positive and negative points from our experience:
+ The view. WOW! the hotel is literally on the sand. The seaview from the gym is surreal. Gorgeous.
+ The spa: appreciated that it was sea water
+ The rooms: super clean and beautiful
+ The hotel staff: friendly and welcoming
+ The breakfast: OMG this was the best breakfast I've had in a hotel in my life. There is a real effort to source local products, with a selection of organic foods (first time I see organic eggs served at a hotel breakfast 👏). There is filtered water, fresh ripe fruits, gluten free options, everything is labeled raw / pasteurized, indicated if organic, where it comes from, the nutritional value... Delicious and nutritious. AMAZING. Bravo, I would come back just for this breakfast lol 👏

- the gym could have weights, there was a lot of cardio machines but not much for strength training
- the hotel restaurant at night: mixed feelings about this. The main dish was absolutely delicious (we had squid), but the entree was a bit simple, and the desert (cheese platter) was a joke for 10€: a tiny slide of cheese cut in thin 6 pieces with a leaf of lettuce and some jam. This you can definitely improve. I asked if I could have it pasteurized as I'm pregnant, I was told no. Our waiter did not seem very competent either, sadly.
For the price, we wouldn't go back to this restaurant, which is a pity because the main dish was absolutely delicious.

We stayed at the hotel during Christmas and we were delighted with the welcome we received and by the friendly atmosphere at the hotel. The Christmas brunch was excellent and the views of the bay from the restaurant are wonderful. A big thank you to all the team who made us very welcome. I hope we will be back this year!

Hotel very well located. The hotel is very clean, the cozy atmosphere is very pleasant. The decoration is really elegant. The thalassotherapy is also excellent. The hotel staff (reception, maid, waiters) are all very pleasant. I recommend this establishment
