Hôtel La Ponche in St. Tropez

Luckily we only booked for one night. Whilst the location is convenient and the hotel unique/boutique in its setting, please be aware that this is not a hotel but 3 very old townhouses merged together. The style and design of the rooms are lovely, with a cute old charm with modern touches and quality details. The staff are friendly enough, especially John who helped park our car and took our luggage. The streets are very narrow and not designed for cats and the parking is 100 metres away from the hotel, not a problem and John will guide you. Our issues started with the room we were given (7) which is directly above the reception and hotel entrance, which is direct onto the street. We were unable to get any sleep as we could hear guests and the staff leaving the hotel between 02am-04am. Also theres a a swinging/revolving old door that the staff use that makes loud banging noises which we could hear all night. If you are a light sleeper or staying for more than 1 night I would recommend a different hotel or ask for a quieter room. The other gripe, was with breakfast, when paying 520 EUR for the room (March 2025 out of season with everything still closed) and another 65 EUR for breakfast we expected a good selection for breakfast. What you are offered is a breads basket, a slice of cake, coffee/tea and juice. No options just this. They then give you an 'a la carte menu' with options for eggs, fruits, granola, bacon/sausage/mushrooms etc which are all priced 10-15 Euros etc each item. This to me is unacceptable, as you end up paying 120 EUR for breakfast each day! This caused a lot of problems for the staff and you could see other guests equally annoyed. If you are going to offer a 5 star boutique hotel and you are charging these prices, at least offer a full breakfast option for the 65 EUR you are already charging. We were told when checking out that other guests had complained about the banging staff door when trying to sleep, but the reception also said we should expect noise during the night because St Tropez is busy and lively (agreed but not out of season in March!) Good luck if you are staying May-Sept. All in all, we really wanted to like this hotel, however we cannot recommend it for the price, difficulty sleeping and an overly complicated, expensive and annoying breakfast service. Likes - Friendly staff especially the guys helping out for check-in and luggage, shout out to John.
