Hôtel Astrid in Rouen

I don't even know where to start. The conditions of this place are despicable and I wonder how it's still running.

The smell of cigarettes and cheap cleaning products stand out on every floor. There was no one at reception to receive us, so we had to call a phone number to notify we arrived; the gentleman came out in tracksuits to serve us and didn't speak English, which fair enough I guess? The elevator was extremely small, dark and was written/marked all over, almost like a nightclub toilet.

The actual bedroom was extremely poor. The table was broken, there was mould on the bed and in the closet, the toilet door didn't close, the shower floor was yellow and rusty, there was no toilet paper as the holder was broken, dust/spider webs everywhere, the wifi didn't work and we could hear every noise/conversation/music/screams! from the nearby bedrooms. The smell was so strong we had to sleep with the windows opened - as this is located in front of the train station you can imagine we had a pretty noisy night.

This stay was uncomfortable and sketchy throughout. We left the next morning and there was no one at reception (again) to check us out. We phoned the same number and the sleepy voice on the call told us to leave the keys in a box... there was no one to complain to or assist us! I wouldn't recommend anyone staying here.

Very unpleasant stay, staff never willing to help, non effective cleaning service. Only good thing is the location, but believe me, it is not worth it…

Very unsatisfied with the stay! There was literally nobody at reception, and if you tried to call they would’t even answer most of the times. I felt unattended and the service provided was very poor. I had to force my departure before schedueled due to the disappointment and bad service it supposed to me to stay in that hotel. It also said that the rooms would be cleaned every dy and that did not happen either. The cafeteria was always closed and the service was very very poor. I am very concerned about this hotel and I do not wish for anybody else to stay there because their stay will be anything but pleasent.

Like a hotel that has an overwhelming odour of cigarette smoke? Love a matress that has collapsed in the middle with flat old pillows? Fancied staying in a place where people normally rent a room by the hour?! Well this could be the s#$@hole you are looking for.

Seriously dont stay here, the room didnt even have a main light just a lamp in corner and the bath had been kicked in. Dillapadated place where the staff dont seem to care.
My favourite bit is when you complain you are told the manager is unavailble and handed a email address. How convenient. The hotel doesnt respond to complaints after numerous attempts to contact them, and Hotels.com who i booked through tried to raise the complaint with them but couldnt contact them either!

It was so bad we had to check out early.

The only true statement positive is it close to the train station so you can leave quick!

Positive: staff at the reception is kind and helpful. Location is not bad, 15 min of walking from the centre. Negative: outdated room, veeery small bathroom (together with toilet), water flushing badly in the toilet, no shower curtains so it was flooding the bathroom, small double bed, broken elevator (not easy to move with a baby), stale smell in the room. We booked 2 rooms for 2 nights and one of the rooms was not cleaned the next day. The walls are badly isolated so we could hear people talking, walking outside the room and even TV in another room. Despite this disappointing accomodation, we enjoyed Rouen a lot. I would not recommend this hotel unless one needs to spend one night there being close to railway station.

Friendly staff but that is the only positive point. Elevator (I was on the 5 th...) chamber of small sizes , we hear the neighbouring room to go to the toilet, we hear through the walls, cobwebs on the walls, hairs from former occupants in the bathroom , bed linen years 80/9...hotel to be avoided even if an attractive price.

Please do not go in this hotels.
Dirty rooms and rigid bed with thin walls that you will make you hear everything is going on in the whole hotel.
