What a place! Wooow! It’s mind blowing. Quite, mix of modern and tradition. The view of mountains, sound of birds. You can not miss it.

This is my third visit here and it just gets better and better. Wonderful location, easy to get to either by train from Munich or a short taxi from Salzburg. In summer the bus stops outside and in winter it stops a short walk away in the bottom of the valley. Staff could not be better. The hotel is a few minutes' drive from Königssee. The terrace faces beautiful snow-capped mountains. You can take great photos without leaving your room. Affordable dinner packages are available. The hotel also offers a swimming pool and sauna, but we arrived too late to enjoy them.

This was our third stay at this hotel, and it certainly won’t be the last. We enjoy every visit just as much as the previous ones. Stefan and Gabby and the amazing Alpenhof team make every stay with them marvellous! Fabulous food and a tranquil, yet warm ambience everyday. Stefan’s brilliant fireworks display at Silvester is a highlight. State of art skin treatments and wellness options are superb.

It's called a single room, but it can actually accommodate two people. The room is not small and has a balcony. The facilities and hygiene are excellent. The hotel environment is also quite good, with a good blend of ancient and modern. It's a typical German family hotel. I love it!

Nice hotel and grounds with good friendly and helpful staff and. Very pet friendly. Good parking. Good breakfast, but let down slightly by not having a full restaurant in the evening. Limited bar snacks were good, but it seems a hotel hotel of this size could support a restaurant, particularly as there is not much else around. Overall though very good.

Great overnight stay for a stop off. Had a lovely walk into the town, great location. Free breakfast, was upgraded to a balcony room which was spacious and clean. The hotel decor is beautiful, lots of plants. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful from the two reception staff we met to the restaurant staff. Bedding was very comfortable and the shower was huge with a seat! Will most certainly return

This is a skiing and hiking resort hotel, so the focus is slightly different from traditional hotels. There are many lockers for storing ski equipment in the hotel lobby, and there are pictures of snowboarding on the ceiling of the room, which is full of sports. We stayed at the Explorer for a total of 3 nights before and after our hiking tour in the region and had a great stay. Staff was accommodating and helpful, utilities including sauna clean and new, and breakfast a highlight. With it‘s close proximity to the hiking and climbing trails as well as the lake, I have nothing but great things to say about the Explorer Berchtesgaden

Excellent concept for a hotel catering to adventure travelers. Room was basic but was clean, bright and open with plenty of storage and charging. Sauna facilities for a room at this cost was amazing. Breakfast was also great, egg station was fun, and once again uniquely catered towards adventure travelers. Bus stop is just outside, and lake is a short walk away.

The hotel is very easy to find, located a short drive from Berchtesgaden, and has ample free parking available. The staff speak good English and are very welcoming. The rooms are huge, very comfortable and quiet and we had a lovely view of the mountains and valley. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed when we stayed however we found a very popular pizzeria a short drive away.

Beautiful property, wonderful food, and a kind staff. Be careful to ask for a room with a view. Our first room was in an attic with no view. For an upgrade fee, they were able to give us the amazing view we wanted in a different room.

Very nice hotel, right on the Königssee lake.

The service is very poor, the reception service is very poor, and other service staff are also indifferent. There will be someone to greet you from 3 to 6 p.m. You can call us at other times. The location is okay, with a balcony.

After we checked into a hotel near Lake Königssee in Germany, it was early winter, snowflakes were falling and the ground was white. Great location Good location a few minutes drive from Königssee which was stunning. Great view from our room window of the kehlsteinhaus. The room was ok, although the bathroom was tight. The beds were comfortable.

I was most displeased by the time of breakfast, 8am to start. That is too late.

This was a simple place to stay and relax after visiting the area, convenient and fairly close to the areas we wanted to visit.

The location is far from the city center, requiring a bus ride (taxis/taxi services are hard to find); the breakfast food is average, the room view is decent, but the price is relatively high for weekend stays.

Very good hotel with warm, welcoming, and attentive staff. The atmosphere is comfortable and pleasant, and the service makes you feel truly taken care of. There is even a small bathtub inside the bedroom, which is a wonderful and thoughtful feature — especially for people who are sensitive to the cold. It really made a big difference and added to an overall excellent stay.

Rooms are spacious and comfortable. However, there was no hot water for a shower after 10pm on our first night. The WiFi cuts in and out constantly. The free breakfast is buffet style and there is a lot of variety - bread, yogurt, fresh fruits, cold cut meat, salad, eggs, cereal. The front desk is only staffed a few hours in the morning and a few hours in the evening.

Room is clean, everything is okay. Just don’t eat dinner here. The dinner was quite disappointed, simply take 10 min walk to any restaurant nearby.

The rooms seem a bit aged but pretty clean. It’s not very noise proof. Breakfast is nice and has a lot of bread and deli options, but dinner is mediocre and quite overpriced. People working the front desk are friendly. If you open your room windows just expect there to be bugs that fly in, even on a top floor (it’s normal). We went with a very large, 3-generations family of 17 (ages from 1 to 75 years) and we stayed for 5 nights in 9 rooms of our choice. A very beautiful house and farm with very friendly and accommodating owners up on the mountain. Very good transport links, from where you can take the public bus everywhere. Meaning, you can leave your car parked. Bus stop in the immediate vicinity. Hiking trails and paths to the lake are very well described. The Alpenhof Punzenlehen is wonderfully situated with mountain views and is somewhat secluded. There's parking at the house. Everything is within easy reach, even on foot. The master bedroom is very large and cozy, and the smaller room with a bunk bed and desk has a French door leading to a small balcony and a small window with a view from the top bunk. The Alpenhof Punzenlehen is very quiet and offers beautiful mountain views. Our holiday apartment was clean and comfortably furnished. It had everything we needed, and the kitchen was well-equipped for cooking. The village of Schönau am Königssee is beautiful, and the owners were very friendly.

A beautifully situated house with stunning, unobstructed views of the Schönau and Berchtesgaden mountains (Jenner, Hohes Brett, Hoher Göll with the Kehlstein in the foreground, etc.). Lake Königssee is easily reachable on foot in no more than 30 minutes. The walk from the bus stop is a bit confusing. Once you find the small meadow path, though, it's fine. The landlady is very friendly and accommodating. The apartment is very clean and has everything you need for cooking, washing up, etc. There's a fantastic view of the mountains. It's about 2.5 km to Königssee on foot, which we happily walked, as it also gives you a glimpse of Schönau.

We came here on our honeymoon and had a wonderful time. The staff was friendly and super helpful. They even packed us a lunch for our long train ride when we left. The restaurant was very good with delicious dessert. We will definitely stay here again when we come back to the Berchtensgaden area.

This hotel was great! Staff was Super friendly (especially Alex!) they were very accommodating and friendly. *note there are no elevators there, so if that is an issue for you…I would stay here again in a heartbeat!
