The hotel is quite basic in terms of style and furnishings, but it offers everything you need for a comfortable visit. The room was clean, water pressure is good, and there were plenty of useful amenities such as Wi-Fi, parking, and breakfast that you can cook your own egg.

The location is one of its best features — it’s very close to the bus stop that takes you directly to Königssee, which made exploring the area super convenient. Staff were friendly and helpful with local tips and directions.

Overall, a great option if you’re looking for place with good facilities and easy access to Königssee.

None of any cup in the room, hand, shampoo and body soap one 1 bottle, need to take in and out in shower

Good location, room was also fine, nice view.

The only bad thing we could find was the additional charge.

The restaurant menu states that you can get coffee and tea with your room pass, which is fine.

But you will receive an additional charge when you check out. Talking about mismanagement. Well, if you pay almost 1400 for 8 nights, dog and breakfast, this should not have been a thing.

But the food was preheated and the coffee and tea were 4.80 each. The coffee was weak. Not worth the price.

I think if they want to do this right, they will lower the price in proportion and make it very clear that if you use it, it is not free. (Put a sign next to it!)

And in terms of food. The portions were small for a kebab sandwich and spaghetti and more expensive than the locals for a meal.

The club sandwich however was good. Good proportion.

Therefore two stars for service. It is not the fault of the people who really did their best, you see that they try.

But mismanagement did all kinds of things. It should be better.

The room was good, the cleaning staff friendly.

This is a skiing and hiking resort hotel, so the focus is slightly different from traditional hotels. There are many lockers for storing ski equipment in the hotel lobby, and there are pictures of snowboarding on the ceiling of the room, which is full of sports. But if you want toiletries, kettles, etc., there are none, only a bottle of three-in-one shampoo. Since the hotel is located by the lake with the cleanest water quality in Germany, it is assumed that the water in the water pipe can be drunk directly. The breakfast is simple, but the necessary nutrients are all there. You can fry and scramble eggs by yourself here, which is a lot of fun.

We stayed at the Explorer for a total of 3 nights before and after our hiking tour in the region and had a great stay. Staff was accommodating and helpful, utilities including sauna clean and new, and breakfast a highlight. With it‘s close proximity to the hiking and climbing trails as well as the lake, I have nothing but great things to say about the Explorer Berchtesgaden

The worst service you could receive. Our luggage did not arrive from the previous hotel and no one was interested in getting it to us after we had been hiking 22 kms.
But the bar and restaurant were the worst. The male person serving bought a luke warm G & T with no ice, no lemon. It looked like a glass of water. We ordered 2 margherita pizzas and after an hour and seeing people who had arrived after us getting served, we asked the male person about our pizzas and he had forgotten. He said it would only be another 20 minutes. There was only a choice of 3 pizzas on the menu and he brought the wrong ones. My friend took the pizza that arrived but as I’m a vegetarian I had to wait another 20 minutes for my pizza. He was more interested in his girlfriend who was working at reception than in his job. We didn’t even get an apology! And the hot room and sauna were not working. The whole hotel gave the impression of no interest in the customer and just a hotel that turned over people coming and going. Certainly not to be recommended

Excellent concept for a hotel catering to adventure travelers. Room was basic but was clean, bright and open with plenty of storage and charging. Sauna facilities for a room at this cost was amazing. Breakfast was also great, egg station was fun, and once again uniquely catered towards adventure travelers. Bus stop is just outside, and lake is a short walk away.

We had a perfect stay. Everything in our checklist was met - 1. Dogs are very welcome and adored. 2. Staff was helpful, friendly and very hardworking. They did not mind speaking English with expats 3. Breakfast had vegan options and local produce ! Even dinner meals offer a vegan option which was very thoughtful. 4. Location is great and parking is on property. 5. Hotel is very clean and everything is modern. Lastly the spa/sauna is an excellent treat and included in the price. I don’t understand the complaints about beds being hard but in a region for sports and hiking, these are the best kind of beds to support your sore muscles. We slept well. Will def choose to stay here again.

Clean, good location, good breakfast (even you have to cook part of it yourself if you want eggs). Losing one start only because for the price I would have expected not to hear snoring from the room beside.

Very nice hotel, really close to the lake and the Jennerbahn. The staff is very kind and helpful. They made sure our stay is perfect. Due to Covid we didn’t experience the famous breakfast but the breakfast package we got to our room every morning was amazing. We even took some of it with us as lunch. The rooms are clean and spacious. The only bad thing I would say is, the parking is not free although the hotel has a huge space that can take lots of cars. Overall it was a great experience.
