Deutscher Flieger in Gersfeld

Unfortunately, the rooms do not meet the standard one would expect at this price. This is clearly stated in several reviews. In their replies to the comments here, the owners assert that one cannot expect more from a budget accommodation for glider pilots. (For example, in June, "The simple furnishings are primarily aimed at flight students and guests who value an attractive price-performance ratio." This isn't about luxury, but about the general condition. Don't expect a minibar, but for over €100 per night, I don't want to experience the following:

- shabby, worn furniture
- walls with visible filler
- broken light switches
- an uncomfortable, saggy mattress that makes you roll to one side (this happened to our entire group)

- noisy rooms and hallways (someone else going into their room wakes you up)

- unfriendly correspondence beforehand (no salutation, no greeting)

- the staff's friendly greeting at breakfast: "Room number?!"

- the Wi-Fi is also very slow

On the positive side:

- great location, but since it's the only hotel, people accept the price/performance ratio
- nice photos in the rooms of gliding in the Rhön Mountains
- depending on the room's location, a nice View

- Breakfast was perfectly adequate for the price

- Good water pressure and temperature

- Easy check-in and parking directly at the hotel

- The breakfast room and restaurant are attractively decorated with beautiful pictures on the theme of gliding

As a group, we probably won't stay here again under these conditions. The way they handled the situation also reveals their culture of blame; customers are usually at fault if they don't complain on-site… I also don't think it's right that my last name was revealed in the hotel's response.

It's a shame; we would have stayed again if the hotel had been in better condition or if the prices were better, but as it was, it felt somewhat unfair to everyone involved.

For a sports hotel, in my opinion, a bit too spartan equipment. For example, we have the option to hang up or dry missing wet clothes. But we also had the cheaper room category with € 60 per night in the neighboring building. The gentleman at the reception is very accommodating, the two ladies are unfortunately not that service-oriented. Kudos to the nice lady who is responsible for the breakfast and thank you very much :)
