From the moment we stepped through the doors of Wertschätzer Hotel, the experience was seamless and exceptionally welcoming. Located in the vibrant heart of Detmold, the hotel offers an unrivaled base for exploring the city's rich tapestry of dining, shopping, and cultural landmarks, including the impressive local castle.

The building itself is steeped in history, and the recent renovations have been skillfully executed to preserve its enchanting architectural elements while incorporating modern conveniences. The reception staff was notably outstanding, providing not just service with a smile but also invaluable tips about the best local spots and activities.

Our accommodation was a pristine sanctuary of comfort. The room featured a fully equipped kitchenette that left nothing to be desired, complete with a refrigerator, two-burner stovetop, microwave, coffee machine, kettle, and dishwasher. Thoughtful amenities included USB chargers and strategically placed light switches that could illuminate or darken the entire room from the bedside—a testament to the hotel's attention to detail.

The bedding was of the highest quality, with luxuriously comfortable mattresses, linens, and pillows. Plush towels and a spacious shower stocked with premium toiletries—including shower gel, shampoo, hand soap, and a high-powered hairdryer—added a touch of luxury to our daily routine.

Soundproofing was evidently a priority in the room’s design, as the interiors were whisper-quiet despite the hotel operating at full capacity during our stay. The presence of darkening blinds further guaranteed uninterrupted sleep, which was particularly appreciated after days spent exploring.

For those considering accessibility, it's important to note the hotel's historical character includes stair access to rooms spread across the first to third floors. While the stairs are solid and the hallways are adorned with engaging artwork, those with mobility issues should be aware that there is no elevator. However, ground-floor accommodations are available, and the hotel staff is more than willing to discuss these options to ensure guest comfort.

Check-in was conducted at a dedicated area just two doors down from the main building, which houses a secure gated entrance that ensures both privacy and safety for guests. The surrounding neighborhood is friendly and safe, perfect for leisurely strolls to nearby attractions.

We were there for breakfast (I was invited), the service was great, always attentive and checking if anything was missing 🥰. I was there two days earlier to get a voucher; the receptionist was super nice and explained everything. The location is also great 🫶. Parking isn't so good.

The ambiance was tasteful, but unfortunately the double room was very cramped and lacked seating. The reception opening hours are too short for business travelers. I found the parking situation very confusing (the GPS didn't recognize the street, there was no street sign, and the parking lot was poorly lit) and time-consuming. Breakfast was good.

I was last In Detmold in 1994, and could not have chosen a better hotel to return, staff amazing, clean, and the best family room we have seen on our travels. Thank you so much

A nice, cozy hotel in the inner city of Detmold. We enjoyed our stay there.

I loved it—so much that I want to keep it secret and not post a review! I had a top floor room with vaulted ceiling and loft and kitchenette. It was immaculate and very comfortable—andwonderful. In a fantastic location in town. Breakfast was wonderful as well. Really loved my stay in Detmold.

This property offers some more hotel-room style rooms, but I stayed in a nicely furnished and somewhat spacious appartment-type accomodation in the old town of Detmold.

Very lovingly furnished, rooms small but nice, very centrally located. The staff welcomed us very nicely. Breakfast can be booked on site. Bicycles could be parked locked in the shed. Everything nice. Gladly again!
