Astoria Hotel Heimbach in Heimbach

Very, very outdated hotel for way too much money. Everything is old and worn.
Sheets are poor quality, beds are bad.
The hotel stinks when you enter. Sewer smell.
It’s a horrible place that most probably goes bankrupt soon.
It should.

Booked using agoda app arrived at a locked door! Could not reach anyone from the hotel contacted agoda they couldn't reach anyone either! It was starting to get dark it was freezing and I didn't have anywhere to go with my wife and 8 year old daughter! Checked my credit card and saw they took the money for the booking already! Don't know if this is some sort of scam but they are never seeing me there again! After a hour on the phone with agoda customer service I got a cancellation and refund guarantee. Not the way you want to start your holiday!

I booked a room there for our group. When we arrived, they couldn't really understand us; we could only reach the owner via cell phone. The rooms were a disaster. One couple could only brush their teeth if the bathroom door was closed; it was like a storage room, and they charged €84 + €2 tourist tax per person + €10 breakfast per person for that. Furthermore, you have to write or sign a piece of paper upon arrival with your name and address on it. I know this is for the police or something else. You didn't get a receipt or invoice from the accommodation. We've never experienced anything like this in all the years we've been traveling as a group. I don't think the authorities here really know what happens to the money in this hotel; that's certainly how it seemed to us, so all we can say is, stay away from this hotel. We were glad we left. During one phone call, the owner became rude and simply ended the call. I have the impression that this owner isn't actually in Germany, but rather in the Netherlands, and therefore won't be here at all. This all seems very strange.
