The rooms and amenities are just perfect.
Sauna available as of 15:00. Swimming pool all day. It is possible to have some drinks next to the fireplace. No restaurant but there's a nice one just next door.
Then in the morning I called back, saying that their offer looks good to me, but the room was cheaper on another website.
They told me I should book there and the lady hung up on me!
I tried to call back many times and they never replied. Same thing per email.
I've never seen that before, and thus do not recommend this place.
The hotel overlooks Daun and is full of historic memorabilia which is in keeping with the hotel. Despite the hotel being quite old maintenance has been keep up to date and it was very clean. Our room (121) had a great view of the courtyard and beyond. The room itself was large with a comfortable bed, seating area with tables and a large bathroom.
The hotel has an elevator that the resident cat uses or it has beautiful large staircases if you don't want to wait.
Breakfast was fantastic with a huge range in a room that makes you feel like German nobility. Whilst we didn't have dinner at the hotel it has held a Michelin star in the past and is supposed to be worth trying.
The staff were very friendly and made us feel welcome. We'll stay here on the next trip to the Nürburgring as it's location is great and there are plenty of activities to do around the quiet town of Daun.
First evening: 3-course menu: At the next table in a Club noise at the end of a Golfer (10 men) who were so loud that we could hear the waitress.
Second evening: "Tender menu for Two": The food was really excellent, but ... next door is again, that noise at the end of the Golf club!!!!!!!
We have mentioned this point of criticism for the Boss and you are asked whether such a group could not bring in a neighbouring room. This was categorically rejected. This is not something to make a point.
Our conclusion: this Arrangement is NOT recommended.
