Hotel Ehranger Hof in Trier

We will not come back. They claimed we did not pay our room beforehand on two visits a fortnight apart. Clean rooms and good beds. Table was blocking fire extinguisher in the hallway. Very bad WiFi.

Parking is on the sidewalk or on the street a short walk away. The front desk employee mentioned that "their" parking at the other side of the road was not available now because of building activities. The parking lot is in front of the local train station. I am not sure how that can be the hotel parking. Good to know there is a train station and a bus stop nearby.

They said we had not paid while after checking twice this is something in Booking.com payment according to them. To us it looked like a payment scam. I believe the explanation one time but have trouble believing that on a second visit. Looking through the reviews on Google Maps, I noticed another review with exactly the same situation.

Since there was a child present we made no fuzz on both occassions and insisted them to check. It was sorted out on both occassions but a waste of time and frustration.

Then there was a fire extinguisher in the hallway with our room blocked by a tabel. I mentiond that on our first visit. They said they should take care of it. Two weeks later it was still there.

In the hallway there was something that looked very much like a WiFi accesspoint with too long an ethernet cable coiled up to it and one open RJ45, which should not be accessible to the public.

The owner phoned me in German about a bit more Dutch direct version of this review on booking .com and threated with legal action.

He restated the problems with booking.com and that they were looking into this.

He stated that the table was no problem according to a friend with the local fire department, but that they removed the table now.

He stated that the device in the hallway was not an accesspoint.

I have the phone call on file for further reference, which I am allowed to have as a Dutch citizen.

I emailed the Trier fire department with the photo. They agreed with us, that given the photo it was against regulations.

I removed the more Dutch direct reviews for now.

The food was incredibly bad. The boiled beef was tough and unchewable. The roast beef with onions was unidentifiable. The side salads arrived half an hour after the meal, after repeated requests. Absolutely not recommended.

Imagine the following situation: We arrive at 5:45 p.m. in an empty restaurant with only half the tables set and ask if we can eat there from the Schlemmerblock. After a quarter of an hour of discussion about the obligation and the pros and cons of making a telephone reservation, we learn that we could have called until 6 p.m. But since it is 6:03 p.m., that is no longer possible. I have never experienced such adherence to principles. Furthermore, it is assumed that many other restaurants participating in the Schlemmerblock offer smaller portions or inferior food. If you don't feel like it or it isn't worth it to participate in the Schlemmerblock, you simply shouldn't do it. But with campaigns like this, you shouldn't be surprised if the restaurant eventually becomes completely empty. Note: This rating refers only to the service in the restaurant and not to the hotel. For the reasons stated, we were also unable to test the quality of the food.

I had the worst experience of my Hotel Stay experiences here despite Travelling and staying in 42 countries which can be checked against my record in Booking.com as well.

The picture of this property are very deceiving and room is nothing close to what have been shown to us at the time of the booking.

There is no mention of Check-in Time during the booking process and it’s Universal Rule that Check-In begins at 15:00.

We reached the property at 15:15 and owner/Manager refused to check-In until 16:00 and he was very aggressive and tone of voice is no where near to polite over the phone. The building was locked and it’s not a hotel rather an Apartment building with no reception or any other employees. Only 1 card was issued and we have been refused by the owner to get the other card and have to pay additionally which is very ridiculous.

You have to wait outside in smouldering heat and have to waste your precious time just because this business has very less employees.

The room that have been given to us lack the cleaning and it was not properly managed in terms of cleanliness during out stay.

It has been portrayed on Booking.com that This hotel has Sauna as well but it’s totally wrong and it’s only for 1 Room.

The room that we had received doesn’t have the Wooden floor as well as shown in pictures.

We stayed here for 3 nights and regretted our decision from the start for staying here. Nobody cleaned the room till 15:00-16:00 next day and bathroom was not clean at all and was like this till our last day in this hotel.

On our 3rd day no one came to clean at all and without our consent, no disturb coupon had been placed on our door.

We asked the Owner/Manager that we would like to Check-Out at 11:30 AM on our last date which is today and he refused again to compensate us.

We Checked-Out today around 8:30 AM then and have to change out whole Travel Plan just because owner didn’t compensate the late Check-Out.

We have checked out at 8:15 AM precisely and we have been refused to get a Check Out Receipt, there is only 1 person at the property who does everything and making excuses that Credit card machine is not working, printer is not working and then told us he is serving breakfast and cannot give us receipt and will send later.

We have checked out,given the card back and have requested the receipt 10 times and have been refused harshly and it’s very disappointing that this type of the person is in hospitality business and providing service to people and didn’t know anything about courtesy.

We have contacted Police as well and this person at the property have told them that he didn’t charge us yet and credit card details are with booking.com and they will charge tonight. I have also called Booking.com UK number and told everything to their representative and he called him and he told them he spoke German only while he was speaking English perfectly and refused to listen to your representative as well to issue the receipt while everything has been charged to us already.

I have never faced this much troubled in any hotel I have stayed and at the time of checking out, it’s the right of the guest to get the receipt for checking out and everything is fine, which the owner/person at the property has refused to give.

I am very surprised that such Apartment buildings are been registered as Hotels on Booking.com and have very less staff to serve people and doesn’t provide any service which comes close to 3 Star.

Unfriendly staff, bad smell in the room, couldn't sleep at night because of it.
Beds and bathroom are nice
