Mavromatis Studios in Naxos Chora

We stayed as a family of 4, sharing 2 rooms.

Positives: The host was courteous and helpful, the property's location is a 5-minute walk from the beach, a 5-minute walk from the main supermarket, and a 15-minute walk from the town center.

The positives end here, and the negatives begin...too many.
The property is dated, with apartments not configured to accommodate 4 people, but rather 2. The bathrooms are old, with shower curtains that I believe have been the same for 20 years. The plumbing system is problematic. On our first day, we started showering and the water went out; they told us it was a problem in Naxos, but the neighbors were watering without any problems, and as soon as we reported the problem, the water magically returned and never went out again for the rest of the week. Even if there were a water problem in Naxos, you must inform guests of the risk and/or post signs in the apartment.
The air conditioning works in one of the three apartments (it worked fine for us, but our friends changed two rooms and the air conditioning didn't work in both). Considering that the studio faces a busy street, it's difficult to sleep with the windows open.
Bedding needs to be checked, as it's not always clean and tidy; the towels are dated and made of sandpaper.

That said, the 2-star review is a combination of several factors: while the host may try to be kind and courteous, it's not enough to do a good job. Some renovations are needed to try to catch up with other nearby properties.

Final comment: all the 5-star reviews I read are surprising...
