Katerina in Agia Marina

Arrived midday, room available at 3pm. Watched 3 other families given keys to rooms whilst maids had just started ours at 2.30pm. Received keys at 3.30pm. Basic but functional room on ground floor. It has 2 firm beds, lots of pillows, blankets, good air-conditioning system, tv, and mini fridge. Bathroom is compact. Balcony comes with table & 2 chairs (no cover/shade for any balcony apart from top floor).
The hotel was clean.
The staff were polite but not very approachable, the lady on reception wasn't easy to approach.

We were staying for 3 nights with breakfast. I wouldn't pay for breakfast at this hotel if I had a choice. Extremely basic and poor products. (Breakfast is an important meal and isn't difficult to do even on a budget). Greek yogurt was lumpy, tinned fruit, no fresh fruit alternative, mini croissants were firm not fresh. Orange juice tasted like sweet cordial, a dark juice also provided - didn't try.
All products were covered but the staff member used the same servers for cheese and ham and the covers remained up on her side rather than down.
There was a bowl of hard boiled eggs and a steel hot tray of fried eggs (no additional heat underneath (egg was cold).

Swimming pool, cleaned every day. Clean decent sized pool with steps in. A good pool. Shaded sitting area with tables and sun beds. Limited shade, no additional brollies.

A quiet location, no noise. Peaceful. A 3 minute walk down hill to center. Easy walk. Good supermarket, fabulous restaurants and beach facilities.

Negative: Breakfast (see above)
No evening hotel service. Main hotel doors locked and nobody around for assistance.
We had an uninvited guest in the form of a 2 inch cockroach 🪳 at 1am. My daughter was terrified. Finally squashed it. This was after the room had been cleaned and doors hadn't been opened!

There is no way you can have a shower without flooding the bathroom.
