Hotel Fragiskos is the biggest hotel in Matala village. But isn’t the most modern. It is located on good place. Its services are perfect. It has air condition, parking, bar, hall, dining hall with allinclusive. Only a hotel’s walls are weak and every voices and echoes are hear.

the hotel is very near to matala beach. The room was in the building behind the parking spots. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The personal were friendly. The breakfast was perfect with everything you need. The only thing: bathroom is small and if you shower, you would have water everywhere in the bathed.But we would recommend this hotel.

I really liked it, we had a front sea view room and it was good. Has a pool but I didn't go in as the beach is right next to it. Location is superb, watch sunset on beach come back get changed so easy. Great breakfast, all the staff were so friendly especially the cleaning lady, amazing, stayed for 3 nights.

Very good AC, and breakfast, bathroom is very limited but managable, very friendly dog (im scared of dogs but wasnt scared of this one very cute), pool area was amazing as well, very clean pool. Very sleepy dog attached for cute purposes.

Tasty breakfast with many options, good location, easy and free parking. The big dog that wanders at the hotel reception can be bit scary but he was calm and obeyed the owner. There was a fridge in the room.

This is a great little hotel at 10 minutes walk from the center of Matala. Nice rooms, great looking pool, delicious breakfast and lovely hosts. They also have plenty of parking spaces and a big fluffy bonus for dog lovers!

Free parking should be removed as an amenity. There is one small parking lot that holds about six vehicles and the front desk told me that they don't verify if the cars parked there are guests of the hotel. When we went to leave, there was a car blocking every other car in the lot. I spoke to the person at the front desk and they said it was the owner of the hotel and he would tell her to move. When...

Perfection in Matala From arrival till departure this is a perfect holiday. Professional and friendly service in every area of the hotel, reception/manager, the cleaners and bar/breakfast staff. I've stayed in numerous hotels in Matala but in my opinion Zafiria will always be my number one choice.

Lovely small family run hotel and super friendly owners.

I've stayed at this hotel three times. In 2001, 2002 and 2018. It is my favorite hotel on the island of Crete. I like everything there: the rooms, the breakfast, the garden, the hospitality of Olimpios (the owner of the hotel), the swimming pool. Thank you, Armonia for the three wonderful holidays! I'm trying to get there again in September 2022.

Hotel Melissa was absolutely fantastic! Very quiet, because it wasn't near the noisy center of Matala. The swimming pool wasn't cold even though the weather was still rather cool. We were in Hotel Melissa for 10 days and it was amazing. I LOVED the food at breakfast but I loved dinner even more. It was pretty much all traditional Greek food and it was so good. Especially when Marina (the owner) cooked. The service was really good as well. Marina always wants to help you out with everything. The rooms were simple, but always very clean. Potential to be better exploited. Hotel with potential. Large rooms. Firm mattresses, but you can feel the springs. It would be better to have a mattress topper. No hot water 2 days out of 3 around 5 p.m.... Acceptable breakfast. Very nice pool. Quiet.

Beautiful and relatively peaceful experience. We felt very welcome and at home in the room just by the pool. The pool was great! However, that room had no Wi-Fi reception, the curtains were not occlusive (sunshine at 6am) and the air conditioning along with the fridge were so loud that we had to switch them off for the night. Nice looking little hotel on the old Matala road. Affordable rates and very kind and caring staff. On the downside, unpractical bathrooms, and a quite basic breakfast (ok, it's only 5€). Overall, a nice stay anyway.

Comfortable and chill! The hotel let us enjoy the best of Matala. The cleaning service is very well done, the only pitfalls are the breackfast that is quite repetitive and the pool is closed during nightime. Tip: when walking back to the hotel in the evining, look up, the clean dark sky full of stars is pure awe!

Took a chance on high ratings on booking website and anticipated basic accommodation, it’s true for “basic value” somehow disappointed us. Lots of cats in the premises, good for cats lovers and bad for people allergic to cats.

A very fond memory. We've been there twice in a row and it's always great. The owners (Cornelia and Michael) are extremely nice, as well as the related guests, all one big family. It is a basic hotel but clean and tidy. Nice hosts - unfortunately pool was out of action awaiting repairs but beach 10 mins walk down the road so not a major issue

Small, spotlessly clean room on the edge of the small town so nice and quiet. It includes parking just up the lane. The buffet breakfast is cheap and delicious.

Nikos hotel in Matala was a magical place to stay. Not only for it's perfect location but also for the comfort and luxurious feel. The courtyard is delightful, with pretty flowers and trees that give great shade on a hot day. The staff are wonderful and made my husband and I feel at home. I highly recommend Nikos Hotel. You can't do better.

Lovely hotel with a great location in Matala, just 2 minutes from the beach and all the bars/restaurants. 5 stars for the staff, they are all incredibly kind and helpful. So nice with the Kids too. I travel a lot and this is the best care I ever got in a hotel. Ok, the hotel itself is not the Ritz, but the rooms are alright and this is very close to the center of Matala. And again, they are great people. Would recommend 100%

We stayed at the Eva Marina hotel for two weeks. Although it is not a luxury hotel (after all, there are no such hotels in Matala), our stay was very pleasant and we have everything we need. If you are looking for a small hotel right in the town center about 300m from the beach, this is the place for you. It is a 2 star hotel, so don't expect 5 star luxury. The most important clean room and bathroom, it seems to have been recently renovated, super nice staff with an open ear to questions. For me, the location was important to keep distances short and relatively quiet, as well as WiFi.

We recently stayed in a charming bungalow accommodation and found it to be quiet, pleasant and comfortable. The bungalows are clean and nicely maintained, each featuring a nice private terrace set in a peaceful garden. The space is modest but functional. The layout is flat and easy to navigate, making it very suitable for guests with disabilities or young children. Parking is limited. Staff is friendly...

The Valley Village is located a little outside of Matala, but you can still get to the beach very quickly. The rooms are very simple but very clean. For breakfast and dinner you can always find something to eat. The pool area is clean and the staff is very friendly. My mom and I have come here 15 years in a row at the beginning of summer. It feely so welcoming seeing the three brothers who one the hotel and most of the staff every year again. Other guests also come back every year. The food is homemade and very delicious. They show a grand variaty of typical greek food, and always a vegetarian option. The rooms are clean and contain everything you need.

We had a wonderfull vacation in a very beautiful bungalow. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. We would certainly return.

I stayed at this hostel for one night during a music festival, and I had a really positive experience. The room was clean, the staff were very polite and helpful, and they even provided me with an extra blanket when I asked. excellent hostel, friendly people run by young people, they organise evenings such as eating out or pub crawls, etc. you can get a private room with a double bed and nice AC, there is a mini fridge, and right next to the bus stop if you are coming from heraklion bus station, you will have to change buses halfway through however

Decent, could use some renovation as well as more accurate cleaning. Volunteer staff are super friendly and helpful! Bed bugs in my bed (maybe I was unlucky).

We agreed with some more people/guests that a year ago it was better. The hostel needs a proper maintenance and cleaning, if not a renovation. There's so much work but noone to do that job.
