We recently stayed in a charming bungalow accommodation and found it to be quiet, pleasant and comfortable. The bungalows are clean and nicely maintained, each featuring a nice private terrace set in a peaceful garden. The space is modest but functional. The layout is flat and easy to navigate, making it very suitable for guests with disabilities or young children. Parking is limited. Staff is friendly and efficacious. Breakfast is simple but enjoyable, with tables outside in the garden area. We did not tested dinner; the buffet was small. Matala beach is close, well equipped, not too crowed at beginning of the season (end May). Water shoes needed. As already identified multiple time in previous evaluation, there are many stray cats in/ around the hotel, most clearly in need for food and care. The current situation of hungry, unsterilized cats leads to overpopulation and suffering. This is causing distress both to the animals and to guests. The hotel management should organise sterilization and sufficient feeding stations. They are quiet and nice cats; many are/could be domestic ones. It’s heartbreaking. Until hotel management act, if you’re still planning to stay here and if you care about these animals, help: feed them discretely/sign on-line survey to authorities/donate to Creta association/adopt and/or continue lobbying hotel management. Stray cats are everywhere in Creta; I did only see worst in Cyprus with mistreatment and dying cats. Greece is worse than Africa on this topic. Situation in/around Matala is extremely bad, up to cats poisoning by exasperated; I did not find any local stray cats feeding/sterilization charity !

My mom and I have come here 15 years in a row at the beginning of summer. It feely so welcoming seeing the three brothers who one the hotel and most of the staff every year again. Other guests also come back every year. The food is homemade and very delicious. They show a grand variaty of typical greek food, and always a vegetarian option. The rooms are clean and contain everything you need.

We had a wonderfull vacation in a very beautiful bungalow. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. We would certainly return.

Good hotel with pool, very friendly staff. Wifi does not work however and walls are extremely thin. Power sockets and electricity were not working properly in the room. Bathroom and shower were great, certainly shortly renovated. Buffet/a la carte choice were a bit limited, breakfast was ok but coffee tasted like water.
All in all, ok for one night but I wouldn't spend a whole week there.

Very pleasant hotel. excellent food! home made fresh meals. fantastic atmosphere. helpful stuff. It's 11 minutes of easy walking on flat terrain to main street and the beach. but place is very quiet. there is not ANY disco under the windows for whole night. good for resting. you have all you need in the hotel. drink bar, restaurant, garden swimming pool 20 meters nice under the palms. few times a week there is an event in restaurants garden - concert , movie etc. It's not so noisy and crowded like the centre of the village . its like countryside Greece. but close to main square.
and Matala is very beautyfull place with special climate unique atmosphere.

Accomodating people. When ac was broken they tried to fix same day and offered (with some prodding) a new room. Very helpful staff and great breakfast. 15m walk to the beach. Stay here.

We get a standard room for 65£ in mid-July ,and this is absolutely lower our expectations.Room very old dated and decadent.We stayed here in July 2019 in a bungalow and we paid much more less.We are quite disappointed,but it's ok, luckly is only one night.
