Rigas Hotel Skopelos in Skopelos Town

Just don’t go there!! There was nothing nice about this hotel at all. It should be shut down. How the tour companies are sending their clients there is unbelievable! The breakfast and rooms were truly awful, the pool was a health hazard and the staff were so rude. Skopolos was absolutely wonderful. We were determined not to let this horrible hotel spoil it for us.

We got back on the 6th October 2025 not a good hotel , bathroom drain stank it needed unblocking, fence on balcony going rotten, artificial grass near pool was coming away in places . Food for breakfast was cold because the heaters were on very low, didn't even have a toaster . And you won't see a rep until the day before you come home , wouldn't go back to this hotel. Don't think that the pool area looks like photos because it doesn't look anything like .

Do not stay at this hotel. Worst ever. Dirty, broken, rude staff. The photos have been photo shopped. Pool is filthy. Area around pool dangerous. Photos attached.

A group of 19 of us stayed at Rigas Hotel in Skopelos, several families traveling together. Despite paying a much higher price, we chose to stay in the same hotel thinking it would make our vacation easier. What a terrible mistake! From the very first day, every single family faced problems. The rooms we were given were nothing like the renovated ones shown in the Booking photos. Those “modern” rooms must be only a handful. What we got were old, moldy, and worn-out rooms. Dirty, smelly pillows; no space to unpack; a wardrobe so small it also held the fridge; and a bathroom that was tiny, decrepit, and reeking from a clogged drain. For 8 days, not a single bar of soap was provided – not for the sink, not for the shower. It honestly felt like staying in a prison cell. The staff were completely inadequate. On the very first night I asked for clean pillows and soap. The pillows they brought were just as dirty, and the soap never arrived, no matter how many times I asked. The management was clearly uninterested in helping guests or improving anything. Breakfast was a daily nightmare: greasy floors, unsafe cooking happening right in the middle of the restaurant with a gas cylinder at someone’s feet, no ventilation, no safety. The food was repetitive, low quality, with almost no fresh fruit or vegetables. Every single day, there were guests at reception complaining about clogged drains, missing basics, and terrible conditions. Instead of enjoying a holiday, we spent our time in constant arguments and frustration. I regret booking this hotel more than I can express. Tiny, inadequate rooms, shocking service, and complete lack of management ruined what should have been a joyful family vacation. Absolutely outrageous. Scandalous. Never again!

The location of the hotel was good. It was easy walking distance to the harbour where there are lots of lovely restaurants. The hotel itself was in a really poor state. There was nothing superior about the room we booked. It stank of damp and intermittently sewage smell. The staff ( except for the cleaners) were reluctant to do anything and were rude. The bar man argued with me that there was no happy hour on cocktails despite there being a poster in main reception saying there was. The breakfast was awful. There was nothing superior fresh fruit from day 2 of our holiday, there were chocolate mousse, processed cheese and meat.. it really was disgusting. The pool area was a massive health and safety risk. There is no decking around the pool as shown in the photos. This rotten and has been covered over with old astrotuf which is fraying in a trip hazard. The pool was so dirty… I didn’t even attempt to swim as local children had been shouting, dive bombing and spitting in the water. This is the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed in and I would not recommend this to anyone!

Biggest disappointment to face this year. Our initial room was 356, it was in the end of the hotel in the last building, full of mosquitoes and MOLD. The room was horrifying. Thankfully, they changed it, because my daughter had lung issues before and we did not want to risk facing anything similar again. The room that they gave us was small, the wardrobe was enough to put just 1/3 of our clothes. The people on the reception were beyond rude and unprofessional. Administration is non-existent.. I hope at least they read and take note from all of the negative comments and reviews. I would not recommend it to anyone. The only thing right was the cleaning from the cleaning ladies, but even they were not able to “clean” the outdated furniture.

It was written that the hotel is ,,a hotel with tradition in guest service” but I’m sure this is not the tradition that they met. When I arrived I was accommodated in a room which smelled strong like some kind of cleaning chemicals. My friends was in different room that smelled like mold. I don’t even want to start with the receptionist team or like most of them. We have to go to the reception pretty much every day instead of spending our holiday.

Our 6 night stay at Rigas Hotel Skopelos (07.09.2025 – 13.09.2025) was something straight out of the show "Hotel Hell" starring Gordon Ramsay. First of all "Mirrors show what’s on the surface, not what’s inside", I'm speaking of the photos that have been put up by the hotel. Shiny rooms, enhanced lighting, best angles possible. But what they don't show you are the dusty old rooms, that my friends initially got and only after complaints of mold smell and dust did the hotel reassign them a new room. Second, upon our arrival (we travelled almost 20 hours) instead of us being met with smiles and hospitality we were met with an angry and frustrated unable to handle her responsibilities and room issues receptionist - Eliza. Our friends had issues with their booking but me and my girlfriend didn't so instead of her giving us the key to the room after we filled in our room form she insisted that we'd have to wait for as long as she decided just because she was upset and didn't want to do her job. After much headaches and about a half hour later we were given the key to our room. Third, the room had ants in the bathroom, and the duvet that we slept with was so dusty that it triggered my dust allergies so my nose was stuffed and couldn't sleep well. 1 star nightmare, I hope that the management takes notice of the very similar bad reviews and they fix these mistakes so that the experience for future tourists is more pleasant.
