Villa Katrina in Tihany

The environment would have been nice, but it was unassuming and dirty. The room was full of cobwebs and they hadn't even swept it up. There were more ants in the sugar bowl than sugar. 😅 The bed linen was also dirty and covered in black hairs. There was no water in the pool. The Wi-Fi was only available at the reception and the dining room, it didn't reach the room. There was no administration and we could only pay in cash. Obviously we didn't get a bill. The pastries at breakfast were dry and the selection was quite poor. The milk was sour, I couldn't even drink a coffee. It was a disappointment. We won't stay there again!

Actually I wouldn't give this place any stars, as I never got so far to stay at Villa Katrina. I've booked in March 2024 and payed the deposit but just one day of our arrival (4 Aug 2024) I got an sms message that the booking had to be cancelled due to technical problems. As we were already on our way to Hungary I had to book another place (much more expensive of course). They promised to pay back the deposit in 3 days and now they are texting that they don't have the proof, which I've sent already 3 times. Very very annoying! So be warned and find another trustworthy place! There plenty others.

We went to the 8-person apartment.
Very dirty accommodation. Dirty floor, cobwebbed corners and windows, hairs everywhere. The bed linen was not clean, and we cleaned the refrigerator ourselves. It was particularly disgusting.
The beds are terribly uncomfortable, the spring digs into your back, and the bed legs fold up. There are no curtains on the windows.
The wifi does not reach the room. The apartment does not have a kitchen. There is a shared kitchen that anyone can use, the dishes there are dirty, and the place is not well equipped. There are hardly any plates, glasses, no cutting board, no kettle.
The garden would be nice, the vegetation and the paving are nice, but it is full of dog poop. No one picks up the dog poop, we spent days walking around a piece near our door.
The pool does not work, it is not filled with water. They did not even show us where the sauna is.
Parking is very difficult. You have to get up on a steep road, with a ditch on the edge. A larger car can barely turn around at the top, especially if other people are parking there. The funniest thing is that the fire pit is in the middle of the already tiny parking lot.
I have no opinion on the breakfast, we didn't dare ask for breakfast in such circumstances.
The place is overall run down. We saw the for sale sign in several places in the area. But they could really clean it up.

When we were almost at the hotel, we received a notification that it had been cancelled, and we had booked the accommodation a few weeks before, so they would have had time to cancel before then. The accommodation could have been rebooked, but they still didn't wait for us. I think this is a rat thing, we heard at the reception that a lot of people were upset that day, there were problems with all the room reservations. The only positive thing was the receptionist, Timi, who arranged accommodation for us at the last minute. The place is to be avoided from afar.

Very disappointed with the experience.. We had pre-booked for an extra bed (family of 3) and what we got was the sofa bed (which was very ok) but lying on it, one can practically sink down.. Sooo uncomfortable. Ended up sleeping on the sofa outside. Secondly we came in mid Aug and 1 room has a fan while the other doesn't. I asked the ladies imcharge for an extra fa. coz it was ridiculously HOT. She came and I showed her the situation and she left.. Nothing..
So ended up having an overall terrible sleepless experience

Our booking was canceled on the same day of arrival by Villa Katrina, allegedly due to a system error in the booking! We had booked about 1 1/2 months ago on Booking.com, with a booking confirmation and, among other things, written e-mail with the accommodation itself! So we stood in front of the property and didn't have a room! The boss of this house simply blocked our calls! We should move to another accommodation, which the lady at the front desk (according to her statement she was only an employee) got us by phone, which was very nice of her, but this accommodation did not meet our expectations!
I wouldn't recommend this accommodation to anyone, because you don't know if you will get a room!
Oh yes, we saw one more thing, the POOL, which was without water, dirty and not even cleaned!
So no recommendation of this accommodation!

The staff was very kind and helpful. However, the factors that made us choose this accommodation: pool, wifi were unfortunately not available. At least wifi is not in our room. The brains were very uncomfortable on the morning there was no aroma, something struck. The location, cleanliness, breakfast was perfectly fine. We could only pay in cash. The kitchen is poorly equipped.
It wasn't very bad, but we calculated the penzunker for more.

It is unfortunate and outrageous that our booking is canceled 2 hours before our trip. (Booked on booking)
We were already on our way to the accommodation with two tiny dogs.
We received no explanation or help.
We do not recommend this experience to anyone!
They ruined our vacation!
We are asking for compensation!
