I was not careful enough!
I didn't read all the bad reviews...unfortunately.
where to start...
the receptionist did not greet me when I arrived. after I greeted him, he mumbled something, but did not stop eating. he was standing in the back of the reception area leaning on a chair.
He communicated with me in short, disorganised sentences.
my room. as you can see from the pictures, not modern but acceptable.
the bathroom is simply filthy. cobwebs, mould and rust.

Sleeping. in the hallway 2-3 people were talking loudly and it was 90% echoed through the door.
If that wasn't enough the local youth were having a drag race on the roads outside the hotel which was completely overheard.
at breakfast the staff was nice!!! :) but the breakfast was below average.
I cannot recommend this place.

One of the worst hotel rooms I’ve ever seen, and surely the worst accomodation I had on my 3 week trip now. I asked if they have rooms without carpets, and actually they have one. But they also said, their carpets are anti-allergic in the other rooms. Well, I anyway took the carpet-free room. But after a few hours in it, my eyes started burning and producing tears, headache and allergic fever started to develop, which slowly disappeared once I was out of the room. The laminate floor seems to be just built on top of an old carpet here, most probably for a good reason to cover it up. And it does not help when you don’t clean everything properly (e.g. there was quite a lot of dust on the heaters). Additionally the wifi is useless as it always disconnects, and the bed with its cheap plastic coating is constructed in a way, that you hit the edge with your feet several times. Kind staff, but it does not help when you suffer the whole stay.

Staff was very nice but unfortunately the rooms were awfully outdated and smelly. 😕

We have been to many places in this price range, but never ever seen such an awful service.

The receptionist is friendly, but that's all the positives. The rooms only receive a quick and not thorough cleaning, there was considerable dust in all three rooms we rented.

The A/C unit is very old (as well as the rest of the furniture, except the bathroom which is renovated and nice). We've been here when temperatures were not too hot, but one day we wanted to turn it on a bit and it made horrendous noise quite like some old diesel engine, didn't even cool down at all.

This would make it maybe 3 stars as the location itself is very good, the city centre is close - but then there is the food. The restaurant has just been taken over by a new "company" of two guys - one the cook, one the waiter. Clearly they never did anything like this, tables were made incorrectly all the time, something was always forgotten, we had to request things like restocking the milk and putting some drink on the table at breakfast, they charge 450huf for coffee which wasn't even available on our first day at all... and there were no vegetables or cheese for breakfast. Ever. Tea wasn't available and the reason was: "it's too expensive for us to serve tea at this time". How's that even possible.
Dinner was mostly fine.

They did act friendly and try to make up for the lack of service, but this just doesn't cut it, the hotel really should've charged a fraction of normal price for this service knowing they don't have proper service currently available in the restaurant.

There is a big tobacco / lottery shop on the ground floor, which did make up some of the bad experiences as there's beer and cigarettes closely available, but this overall is worth 2 stars, and I would really want to give 1 star only but I just feel sorry for the guys at the restaurant trying to make this work, they are nice but really don't have an idea about how this should be done.
