The room was super small and not designed with the user in mind; there was no space for our luggage or to hang clothes and towels. There was not even a hook for the hand towel next to the sink. There was however a show pillow, seems like the wrong priority.
There were only two showers and toilets, way too little for 14 people. Had to wait every time. Showers were also poorly maintained and riddled with mold on the ceiling. The upstairs toilet had a sink with a non functioning drain. Because of that every time you wash your hands, other peoples dirt (hairs, sand etc) flowed up.
The kitchen and common area were quite nice and spacious. Location is also nice. It’s quiet but in close proximity to Höfn. And you have a view on the glacier :)
The rooms are simple but comfortable, and the setting offers peaceful countryside views with easy access to Höfn and its restaurants, shops, and famous lobster dishes.
The guesthouse is a good choice if you want a quiet, home-like base rather than a hotel feel, and you’ll appreciate the clean facilities and welcoming hosts.
It’s best to have a car since the location is slightly outside the town, and weather conditions in this region can be unpredictable, so plan your driving accordingly.
