Where to stay in Hofn

Easy self check in as we were late. We were lucky to sighted aurora during our one night stay there

This guesthouse-style hotel is located on the edge of town. It's generally clean and tidy, and the rooms are spacious. For the price in Iceland, you really can't complain.

Breathtaking Views, Located in Hofn town, clean, comfort and convenient, good restaurants are within walking distance. Breakfast is simple with quality good food, Free flow of drinks all day.

Super clean! All the amenities you’d need and a decent breakfast to fill you up before you hit the road. Great view as well. And prime location if you’re staying in Hofn.

A great stay to go around Hofn and the Diamond beach. It also offers breakfast which is basic things but enough for us. The staff was very helpful and friendly, and the room we had was quite spacious.

We loved the Milk Factory in Höfn, Iceland. So Clean, beautiful view, wonderful breakfast, friendly staff, great atmosphere. Will stay here again.

Visited in July. Spent 2 nights. Lovely stay. Basically situated in the middle of nowhere. Just you and the glacier, can you imagine? Would love to come back in winter to have a chat with northern lights. Would stay in Fosshotel again if I were to return. Spacious room. Comfy beds. Toilet and shower were separated. Wow, this is what I can say about this hotel😍 amazing place, a wonderful location in the middle of almost nowhere, beautiful surrounding, I can stay here forever. The room was so nice and simple, the dining area has a very beautiful view, the food was very good, and very nice staff. I would come back and stay in this place if I ever visit Iceland again.

The most beautiful hotel of our entire trip. But above all, I highly recommend trying the wonderful food at this hotel. We had the opportunity to taste lamb and baked cheese with vegetables that are typical of Iceland — absolutely delicious. Later, we found out that the chef at this hotel is a Polish woman who has been cooking there for years. The food was amazing 😍. The breakfasts were very filling...

The reception staff were very helpful and friendly, which made check-in smooth and welcoming. After a long day of driving, it was such a relief to lie down in the extremely comfortable beds, they were just what I needed. The bartender was also very friendly and made the evening even more enjoyable. Overall, a great stay!

Room facilities are complete and breakfast is average

Hotel Jökul was unfortunately a bit of a disappointment. We arrived late at night in the rain and darkness, which made it a bit difficult to find the reception and there was little indication that there was a hotel there. After a while we saw a sign pointing the way to the reception and that was nice. But when we dragged our luggage up the stairs and into there, we were given a room in another building...

No-frills hotel a short drive from Höfn. Rooms look a bit dated but are functional and will give you a good night's rest. Breakfast is a simple affair with no hot food on the menu. Walls are thin and we could hear our neighbours a bit too well.

Advertised as hotel with free breakfast the announced that our reservation didn't include it and that we would need to buy it at $24 each. We made a reservation on Hotels.com where was not option even on breakfast to be included or not. Somehow hotel decided not to?! There is no elevator, beware you have a heavy luggage! Rooms are ok, spacious, but there are no fridge, no shelves and no room to place...

The family room that we had was very spacious. Due to the location of the hotel it is very quiet. Our beds were comfortable -- just right hardness. We missed a reading light near the bed. Dinner in the hotel restaurant a la carte was excellent. The breakfast buffet was very good.

It was alright. Parking was convenient and there were some popular (Instagrammable) restaurants nearby.

Right by the sea, the views are fantastic. The room facilities are a bit dated, but the overall decor is cozy and inviting.

This hotel is located in Höfn, about 500km from Reykjavik Airport. We arrived late at night, but the hotel staff were warm and welcoming. The facilities inside were also satisfactory.

I don't recommend getting breakfast, it's really bad. Everything else is fine.

The room was clean and comfortable, the location was easy to find, and parking was convenient right in front of the lobby entrance. The front desk staff were polite and provided good service.

Absolutely our favorite stay while in Iceland. This spot is about 10 minute outside of the main Hofn area and very affordable. Our self-check in was very easy and our room was easy to find. Our little double bed cabin was so precious and held perfectly fine against the winter wind and cold. We loved that we could park right outside our cabin rather than lug our luggage through a hotel from a parking...

Perfect location just outside Hofn. Very nice guesthouses with shared bathrooms. We stayed only for one night but we couldn't have asked for anything better. In line with prices in and around Hofn.

We arrived around 8 and they were very helpful with dining options outside of the hotel but we ended up eating there, which was an amazing choice! The service was excellent, the food was delicious. We spoke with a worker for almost an hour after the restaurant should have closed and got many suggestions on where to go on our trip and lots of information about Iceland. Wonderful stay!

It’s not easy to find a hotel in Iceland, and I feel like you get what you pay for. This one is considered cheap. One thing this place didn't do well was the poor WiFi signal in the room I was in. Because the mobile signal was very poor, we had to rely on WiFi. But in the whole room, only the doorway can be connected. When needed, we had to sit at the door as shown in the photo to access the internet

The hotel was clean and the service was great. We really enjoyed the breakfast as they had a variety of options, including home-made goods. Would definitely recommend!

Parking area is spacious, easy to park. Hotel is located near to tourist spot Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon. About 10 mins drive. Hotel buffet breakfast is very good. Alot of handmade cookies and cakes, fresh fruits and local meal. Room is clean and tidy. Recommended to stay here.

Room was clean and comfortable, heated nicely for arrival. Shower was hot and instructions for the cabin easy to understand. We arrived late and then waited to see the northern lights, which we did. A great view from the bedroom side window over the mountains. Definitely would come back here

We were comfy, warm and had what we needed. We saw the Aurora really clearly as there was no light pollution, it was amazing! The cabins are situated in such a beautiful spot with awesome views and horses nearby. This was a very special place in our Iceland adventure!!

Aurora cabins was the most expensive cabin we stayed in during our trip to Iceland and the smallest. It would be fine for a couple but it was too small for our family of four. The views were lovely but it was closer to the road than I was expecting. It was very well equipped and the shower was great but I’m glad we didn’t stay any longer than one night.

We saw the aurora during our one-night stay from our room, it was fantastic! The cabin was also lovely, with a perfect view in the morning.

Aurora cabins lived up to their name! We were able to catch the lights the night we stayed (and it was the only time we were able to during our vacation)! In regard to the lodging itself - we loved how close to ring road the cabin was. It was easily located via google maps and had a seamless self check in with a parking spot waiting for us. This Hotel provided us with a fantastic stay. It is clean, the staff are very attentive but not overbearing. Our room was very clean, but there were a couple of small drawbacks. There was a small desk, but no wardrobe for clothes. It would have served better to do away with the desk and provide somewhere to unpack our cases and hang clothes. My wife and I lived out of our suitcases for the duration...

The hotel is in a good location and they got their own diner. One of the staff(the cat) is rude and do not respond to me. However all of other staffs are so nice! The breakfast is good. Attached with the photos of the rude staff.

The room was a bit old and had a hospital-like feel, but the location is fantastic: right by the sea with beautiful views. The staff were extremely helpful, and the restaurant exceeded all expectations.

The rooms are located in separate buildings outside of the reception area, much like a villa-style business hotel. However, there are no elevators, only stairs, so you'll need to carry your luggage yourself.

Friendly and courteous service, well-stocked breakfast, local beer (from Höfn craft brewery), and the staff speaks 4 to 5 languages.

We were only in the café. But that was an amazing experience. They staff was extremely friendly. The toilets were clean and the food was good. They had a little mix up with one order but they were so sorry about it and gave us something for free as a sorry. Super clean bathrooms and showers. There was also a small outdoor kitchen. Since it’s winter the stoves were taken out but it was still an area I could use my over camper stove to cook in. We had the entire block of unit to ourselves as we had 3 people. Staff was nice and polite and the rooms are spacious. Best of all is the location which is near to the major tourist spots we were visiting. Breakfast spread was not so wide but it is sufficient for us to have a full breakfast.

Comfortable and value for money. Provides free access to Viking Village and Stokksnes as well. Friendly staff. We also caught the most amazing aurora 10 minutes drive from this accommodation.

Nice views but not fancy Guesthouse with nice views. Shared bathroom which were too busy in the mornngs. Also shared kitchen with 2 small fridges. It was okay, junky outside the bldg. Owners could be more available. I waited outside for extra pillows. Someone went in but nevver came out again.

It is a nice place but a little bit outside of walking distance from town. I really enjoyed the coffee from the complimentary espresso machine.

Quiet, tidy guesthouse. The kitchen was well stocked with a juice machine and coffee machine. Bed was comfy.

On the upside, the interior (the bedrooms and kitchen/dining area) were clean and there was plenty of seating for dining. But the exterior feels like it is slowly turning into a junkyard - it was full of old/rusty vehicles/farm equipment, there was a rusty chimenea full of trash out front, and multiple trash bags were piled up under the stairs leading up to the guesthouse. The hotel was so comfortable with heating floor system. The breakfast was pretty simple but we appreciated the staff specially prepared the breakfast earlier for us as we need to head out earlier for our glacier excursion. We enjoyed the hot tub very much! We can even saw the glacier from the hotel room! Highly recommended!

We were only planning to stay 1 night but ended up extending twice. The rooms are clean and tidy, and the breakfast was excellent. The breakfast area has stunning views of Hoffellsjokull glacier, as do the amazing hot tubs, which are free to residents. If you want to go to the glacier, it’s about 4 km from the hotel along a river bed, which is only drivable in a 4x4 or you have a reasonable walk....

What a perfect stay. The included breakfast was good and hearty. They also catered to my gluten-intolerant partner. The hot tubs are a dream. The staff are friendly and helpful. The rooms are warm. Beautiful view of the glacier from the hot tubs and our bedroom. Just... wonderful.

Beautiful hot tubs overlooking glaciers and a horse farm. There are four spacious hot tubs with access to clean and comfortable amenities. They also have a walk up bar for drinks and such. We spent about two hours soaking in the various tubs and enjoying the scenery. Perfect stop regardless of the weather, a great place to stop if you are in the area!

A guesthouse you can find by taking a short detour off National Route 1. The accommodation itself is satisfying, but I especially recommend the handmade gelato from the farm. It is suitable for a one-night stay.

The scenery around the hotel is stunning, and the accommodations are tranquil and comfortable. It's incredibly close to the glacier, and the sunrise there is breathtaking. The breakfast is also quite good.

The hotel is beautiful, with a lawn in front of it where cows stand, sit, or lie down, overlooking Vatnajökull Glacier. It's as if the cows are growing on the ceiling. The rooms are well-equipped, but the soundproofing is poor. However, the foreign guests are very considerate; even the noisiest restaurant and lounge areas quiet down after 8-9 pm.

The hotel is very well located on the road to Hofn. The room was magnificent: large, with a breathtaking view of the mountains and glaciers. It looked like a picture on the wall, but it was our bay window. The staff was very friendly, the breakfast perfect, and the homemade ice creams were delicious and original (dandelion flavor, a delight).

Excessive price for a business that needs interior renovations. July is usually more expensive, but the value for money isn't right. It feels like a place that's been through a lot and the business is doing well, but compared to other guesthouses, it feels outdated. It lacks warmth. Breakfast was adequate.

The hotel is located in a big town with a nice surrounding. Go to the gas station to refuel and wash your car. The hotel rooms are fully equipped and comfortable, the front desk staff are warm and polite, and the parking lot is convenient for parking.

A good place to stay. The rooms are spartan yet immaculate and warm, with excellent showers. There is a common room with kettle, microwave and refrigerator. Breakfast is normally served from March onwards, but they did offer breakfast during our stay in late February.

Overall, we had a good experience staying at Seljavellir Guesthouse. The car park was spacious, and the room was clean and large. The only downside was that the room directional signage wasn’t clearly visible from the car park—we ended up walking a big round in the winter cold to locate our room.

Great place to see the northern lights! Close to Hofn, good location to stay while following the ring road. The room was clean. Breakfasts were available. We could use the microwave even though we did not have breakfast offered here.

Very modern hotel with nice and big rooms. We had some bad luck with the weather so we had to stay there all day, which can get quite boring. The town of Höfn is around the corner but there was nothing much to see. A big plus for the hotel was the breakfast, though. With freshly made scrambled and fried eggs and tasty bread we had everything we needed.

We only stayed here for an overnight to visit the Stokknes beach , this hotel is our favorite & surprisingly nice hotel in the area with their spacious room, comfy bed , quiet surroundings and the reception lady is very accommodating. One of our favorite spots that we stayed at during our Iceland trip. We were able to see the northern lights the night we stayed. Loved the cleanliness of the room. The shower and toilet were all in one but large bathroom. Would stay here again.

Everything was super clean and comfy. I liked the living area. Very generous and yummy breakfast. The staff was friendly and kind. Although a bit away (1 hour drive) from the Diamond Beach area, the price was reasonable, and the area offers beautiful hikes. Highly recommend!

The place is clean. Check in is easy. The room is very small and the upstairs washroom needs some update. Breakfast selection is very limited.

Cosy room, spacious toilet. Although well equipped, the shared kitchen was rather small, I can't imagine having to share the space with other guests. Also, the electric cook tops take a really long time to heat up! They had an espresso machine which you could use to make coffee. The rooms were completely self check in/out, and we didn't see any staff.

We stayed one night at this hotel & it was easy to find, clean & ample parking. Please note that it is not staffed but you can reach the staff if needed. I was also surprised to not see the hot tub that was shown in the photos. The facilities were clean & quiet.

My mom and I stayed here for one night, and it was the perfect overnight stop. Beds were comfortable, and the guesthouse had everything we needed to make dinner and breakfast in the morning. Unfortunately our upstairs neighbours were very noisy through the night which meant we did not sleep, so if you are a lighter sleeper I would not recommend this place. The location is excellent, within walking distance of Parkhus restaurant. The rooms are small but clean and tidy. There's a shared kitchen with complete facilities, and a shared space for making coffee. Self-check-in was great!

One of the largest rooms we stayed at during our Icelandic roadtrip. It was close to restaurants and easy to find.

Curtains were stained and hair in shower drain. There was an argument in the hall at 3am that woke us up also.

The place is beautifully located close to Höfn. It's a farm stay with really big rooms, well equipped, clean and comfortable. The business is family owned and run, so there are some limits due to a very small staff what they can do to maintain the place, there are minor damages here and there to the interior, but keeping the place alive in this condition is a challenge as such, given it's in the middle...

The rooms were quite nice. Just breakfast in this place was very poor. Nothing warm except of coffee and tea. No warm food at all, just slices of cheese, ham to make sandwiches and overcooked boiled eggs.

Upon arrival, the staff at the front desk were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and they efficiently checked me in and provided me with all the information I needed about the hotel's amenities and the surrounding area. A lovely stay that I’d choose again over any hotel. I had the pleasure of spending three nights at Dynjandi. Winter storms may have kept me in more than planned but I didn’t mind at all and in large part that is due to Inga being a wonderful host. Room was spacious and still cozy for me, breakfast is good and the location is stunning. I hope to be able to see it again one day.

Clean and nice with a brand new, beautiful kitchen and complimentary tea. In the small TV room, we enjoyed Icelandic documentaries on YouTube.

I was very wary of staying here given some recent reviews. I was pleasantly surprised by how clean it was, inviting on the inside with thoughtfully laid out teas, cups and a hot water kettle on both floors. Rented a unit for 5 of us and it had 2 separate bedrooms and a couch with a hideaway bed. The unit was recently updated, nicely decorated and very clean. I’d highly recommend it.
