Acco Guesthouse in Akureyri

Bathroom 0/10 -> the sink is clogged, dirty shower, broken as it is to see on the photo.
Beds 3/10 -> comfortable bed but smells like it was used many times prior, the pillows were flat as a sheet of paper
TV 3/10 -> big TV with really bad internet connectivity for Netflix Youtube etc. TV randomly shuts down.
Location 6/10 -> more or less in the center of Akureyri
Room overall 3/10 -> extremly noise, stinky room, dirty and broken shower but a nice TV. It feels like the owners don‘t care about their guests and just want to earn some money.
Would not recommend to stay here!

I don't recommend this place. The room smells bad. There is only one bathroom for 9 rooms. I waited for 3 hours before taking a shower. It was so painful.

The shower is only lock in one place and looking down. Youll have to bend your body and go so close to the walls so the water falls on you or hold the shower which is troublesome. You can hear everything from inside room. The loud people talking right outside the door is a kitchen. The people next door and cars driving outside even the boys just dribbling their basketball. You wont have a good sleep here, not even for one night. They didn’t even provide curtains here, only blinds that doesn’t really cover everything since some light can still get through even if you flip it closed—yes I know how to use a blind. The bedroom is very small—like a servant’s room and the mirror inside is broken. Even the bedsheets looked like they werent even folded properly before used to wrap the mattress. The pillowcases and comforter cover smell liked they haven’t been changed and already used but I can’t really tell since it’s in dark colors. I’m a frequent traveller and can tell with white sheets but on purpose, perhaps this accomodation used dark colors to cover it if they haven’t changed their sheets. Very old broken furnitures still in use. We stayed in another guesthouse in another town—Lyngas Guesthouse was so much better than this. Staying Lyngas Guesthouse is like a hotel room while this place “Acco” is like servant’s room like I mentioned. It seems the owners don’t bother to try to make it a comfortable stay to guests. To the owner: Please buy new and white sheets. All your zippers are broken and don’t even closed. You also used very old, thin and cheap pillows. It’s unfortunate that some guests wear there outdoor dirty shoes here even when there are signs everywhere.

Acco Guesthouse late check in at 5pm---I’ve never seen anything so late and then very early check out. the owner wants to earn their money with the littlest effort and zero care for guests

Very loud clacking doors all night I could hear neighbours going out and in to the rooms, also thin walls I could hear neighbours coughing and talking. Didn't sleep all night. Shower was badly made so all the water was going out all the way to the room. We arrived late at night and we asked for later check out, we got respond that 10 is only possible hour. At 7-8 in morning there was big noise from clacking doors probably housekeeping. The building is not in the best condition shabby dirty walls and floors. Building is also very close to the main road so car trafik is well heard .

We were traveling in a group and we got the 4 rooms below ground level. In front of our dirty window there was fairly heavy traffic long into the night and from early morning. As the window could not be darkened completely (no curtains and the blind was not fully functioning and the window could not be shut tight), we were exposed to the changing traffic lights and the headlights of the passing cars. There was traffic noise and the noise of flushing toilets.
Our room was situated between the two toilets for eight people, one of them without ventilation or window and not really usable after the first visit. The only shower was in the other toilet. The room was small and absolutely depressing. Dark grey bed covers and linen, a black shelf and table, a small washbasin with a faucet that did not work and only a trickle of water. The zip of the bed cover was broken and the quilt was showing. The carpet in the hallway was dark grey, trying to hide how dirty it was.
This was the worst room I have been in since my student days.
