Ideally located for trips around the local area. The service from staff was fantastic, they were very knowledgeable and happy to share information about the best things to do. The breakfast offerings was superb. Rooms were basic but clean.
Wonderful stay at Hotel Norourland! The hotel is clean, comfortable, and well presented, making it a perfect place to relax after a day of exploring. The rooms are cozy and quiet, and the overall atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Friendly staff and a great location add to the experience. Highly recommended for anyone traveling through this beautiful part of Iceland!
The location is easy to access nearby restaurants, supermarket and other places. The room is comfortable with a big window we can see snowing in late Oct 25.
Friendly staff. Convenient location. Walk to downtown in a few minutes. Very nice breakfast. No elevator if that is a concern for you.
Clean & centrally located.
Short walk to shops, restaurants, sites, and water tours.
Good breakfast choices of local foods & those internationally familiar.
Just a bit worn around the edges but clean and comfortable.
Knowledgeable and friendly staff who, as one can expect from all in Iceland.
Yes, I would stay there again.
Our double room was spacious and clean. It had a water kettle and complimenary tea in the room.
The breakfast was excellent with lots of choices: best buffet we had in 8 hotels in Iceland.
We could park in front of the hotel (free 16:00 - 10:00).
Restaurants in the city center are within walking distance.
Due to the location there was traffic noise till night and in walking distance.

Great accommodation, clean and with a beautiful view of the village. The responsible crew at the reception and also the cleaning team. I enjoyed staying there, will come back soon surely! :)
I was a bit worried initially from some of the bad reviews but actually pleasantly surprised. Rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. Yes it’s a university building some time of the year but actually really good. Highly recommend. Private en-suite bathroom too.
Rooms were ok, quite tight. TV in room was a pleasant surprise until we realized there are no channels. Cleanliness could use an upgrade - there was remnants of lipstick on the drinking glasses in the bathroom.
Despite the above still giving 5 stars due to exceptional service. The front desk staff, specifically Kasper, went out of his way to try and help us brainstorm solutions for putting through...
The hotel in Iceland was not too bad, but for the price, I expected more in terms of equipment and services. The room was quite basic, and amenities were limited. However, the location is excellent and very convenient for exploring the area. Overall, it’s okay for a short stay, but there’s room for improvement.
Fun with the corridor names, I was in Jotunheim myself, which was a bit worrying, but I had my Thor's hammer with me so I was safe. 😁
Joking aside, nice hotel for me, good distance to everything, good service and nice staff.
This hotel ceases to be a student residence during the summer. The rooms are clearly for student use. There is an elevator available upon request and only for people with reduced mobility. The breakfast buffet is acceptable.
There is a proper restaurant on the other side.

The room was rather small, and the breakfast selection was limited, but the location was excellent, making it easy to reach various parts of the town. The gym had many facilities, but it was mostly empty, so you could practically have the gym to yourself.
The room was spacious and well-equipped, with the heated towel rack being particularly noteworthy. It snowed on the day we checked in, and our clothes were completely soaked—the heated towel rack was very helpful for drying smaller items. The breakfast was a buffet with a wide variety of options, which suited our tastes perfectly. This hotel offers excellent value for money and is highly recommended
It was a nice hotel. Friendly staff and good amenities. Will back for my next trip
It's just so-so, not cost-effective!
The room is clean and tidy, with scenic spots outside the window
The hotel does not have a parking lot and you need to find a public parking space yourself.

Recommended ⭐️ 🌟💫✨🤩
If you drive, location is central.
Rooms on the small side.
Good view from hotel room.
Breakfast is alright, limited selection
Spacious room. Breakfast was nice. Just next to a public swimming pool
C the view from the room , the my using locittance shampoo , but the design not so good as u need to open a bit ur window. The toilet and bathroom is open concept , so suitable for couple , not so suitable for friend
Great location and walking distance into town. Breakfast offered a nice selection to choose from
and can meet all diet preferences.
The room was quite small and the bathroom layout questionable. Other than that the Hotel was fine

Fabulous hotel! All the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Beautiful space for relaxing in the reception area, by day and by night. Great breakfast and fantastic location! The sea view rooms are a little dated but have beautiful panoramic views across the sea and the mountains whereas the newer rooms are much more modern and spacious - so choose what is most important to you. Highly recommend...
Lovely clean hotel one of the best we have ever stayed in. Very nice staff that went out of their way to help you with anything.
Even told the lady on reception (owner?) what a great hotel it was.
Brilliant breakfast with a great choice of food. Would definitely stay here again
A lovely hotel, but improvements in storage would make it excellent. If 2 of you are staying in a double room for more than a couple of days the lack of storage is inconvenient.
Breakfast is incredible, along with the service from the staff.
We stayed at Hotel Akureyri and overall had a really positive experience. It is a really nice hotel with a great ambience throughout, and the staff were genuinely friendly and helpful.
We upgraded to a sea view room, which was a great choice. The room was a really good size, the bed was comfy, and having a fridge in the room was a big plus. The TV had broadband, so we could watch things in the evening...
This hotel was very beautiful. Its location in the Centre of Akureyri. The staffs was friendly and helpful. The room was small but it is enough for 2 of us. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast has many choice. Will comeback again .
We were lucky enough to check in that morning and get an upgraded room, which was a fantastic experience! We were even luckier to see a spectacular aurora explosion from the roadside entrance that evening, though we missed it the following night. The hotel staff were friendly and attentive. The cathedral and botanical gardens are within walking distance, and we were lucky enough to attend the 11:0...

I’d give 4,5/5 but it won’t let me to half to I rounded up, truly incredible, amazing service, comfortable beds, incredible view, nice owner and really good food. We were supposed to leaf at 11 and the owner let us be an hour and a half more since we were going skiing. Really nice tv, first time I’ve been able to watch some tv in a hotel. Very clean, great looking elevator. Great location.
My husband and I loved our stay at Hafdals Hotel! The views were spectacular, overlooking the town lights across the estuary. The room was exceptionally clean, hotel owners were accommodating and kind, and breakfast was simple but delicious. In this 10 room hotel, it was quiet and easy to get to - only about 5 minutes from Forest Lagoon and a quick 10 minute drive to downtown Akureyri. We had a 10...
This is a fantastic no-frills option across the fjord from Akureyri. The room was exceptionally clean, and we made good use of the refrigerator and coffee maker. The floors of the bathroom were heated, which was an extra nice touch. The views are all stunning, from every room, as you look across the river delta. It’s about a 10 minute drive to downtown and just a few minutes by car to the Forest Lagoon...
Located on a hill opposite downtown Akureyri, the view is breathtaking. The hotel is quite stylish, and the elevator is new, making it a nice place. It was the first time I've seen small bottles of shampoo and conditioner in an Icelandic hotel, which was quite surprising. The breakfast was also very generous, with delicious local boxed yogurt! I even saw a robotic lawn mower in action, which was a...
We really enjoyed our stay. Beautiful views. Check-in time is firm. Owner does all duties (check-in, clean, breakfast, lawn care, etc.) Room was very clean! Serves a cold breakfast.
If I have one pet peeve, there was very small bottles of body wash/shampoo, only for one time use. Instead of a large refill bottle.
We'd stay there again! Highly recommend.
Picked this hotel because of the location just outside of Akureyri. The host was very friendly and always happy to make recommendations. He was very knowledgeable about the area and gave good advice about places to go.
The room was very good, with amazing views across the fjord looking towards the airport and town.
To get into town, you need a car but the Forest Lagoon is walkable albeit a climb back...

A lovely welcome from the team started our stay well. The room was really clean, cared for and well designed. The breakfast room had plenty of space and choice and the bar was so lovely, with a great choice of drinks and really beautifully decorated. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
The room felt unfinished with certain lights missing. The tv didn't work. However everything was very clean and the breakfast was amazing
Beautiful hotel but not good rooms
Pros:
The propriety is beautiful.
Common areas are very well decorated.
Bath towels new and soft.
Breakfast is excellent.
Cons:
Room very stuffy and warm (no AC).
Noisy construction in front of the building and so is the road.
Staff between arrogant and almost rude.
Room/bathroom design weird.
Loose electrical wires hanging out of the walls.
Holder for shampoo...
Location great service good room was very crowded no closet or hooks for clothes or space for suitcase
It was a very nice hotel and hotel room. The breakfast was extremely good! The only downfall was there was a lot of construction going on within the hotel and on the street of the hotel.
Loved this hotel!!!
The Hotel Akureyri Dynheimar is a firm favourite; its charm and character have been preserved and enhanced by clever interior design choices.
The rooms are generous and very well-fitted. Our room had a large desk, a comfy armchair, a beautiful bathroom, and a king-size bed.
The heated timber floors were a nice touch. This hotel is designed for comfort, and I felt right at home...

Beautiful room with fantastic views. Friendly staff. Would have like a buffet breakfast instead of a basket to the room the night before? However completely understand when there’s hardly anyone staying.
One of the best hotels we stayed in Iceland! The room to the balcony was exceptional. The hot tub overlooking the city was amazing! Definitely recommend staying here! Amenities were updated in short don’t think twice about booking here!!
Positives: Breakfast was great. Drawbacks: Compared to the other 9 hotels I stayed in across Iceland (at same price point), this one was the least clean. It had a off-putting smell & was dingy... dusty, etc. Nothing terrible, just not as nice as other places. Our bed arrangement wasn't as we reserved either. And we arrived to find both hot tubs out of service, which too bad, because that was one of...
Perfect spot to watch Northern lights in a clear night as it is 6 km away from Akureyri. Self checking and breakfast in your room from Nov 1st to April 1s. Rooms somewhat small but more than okay for us, with only one night stay
Building looks a little old but it's comfortable. It's on the other side of the city and view is really pretty. High chances of seeing northern light.
Breakfast is included but served only 8-10 which was late for us and they did not provide box lunch
The room was a little small and the water had a sulfur smell to it.

It’s a small room with full of small kitchen. We can cook a small plate in the room. The bathroom is small but not bad for a price and location.
This is not a hotel as you will expect! No tv in room and by the time you've put 2 suitcases on the floor and rack there is hardly room to move!! One has to climb over your partner to get into bed as there isn't space to walk around your bed!! The restaurant next door is excellent with good food.
Amazing location on the main street! Stylish, relaxed atmosphere. Bar & great restaurant with quality food. Extra special thank you to the wonderful Barbara who is an absolute diamond 💎 Exceptional customer service person with a twinkle in her eye and made all her customers feel very welcomed and special. You are definitely in the right job! 10/10 and give her a raise 😎👏
Luxury orientation on rooms with early released to public, no tv-excuse 'speak to each other' bold but very risky excuse to not have tv in the room, not even WiFi password....no coffee, no tea..again no explanation. Defo not worth 40k to extend for 3rd night. Especially when there is upgrade suit for 30k with mountain view next door, with elevated service ready to discover. Choices to improve are there...
Excellent location, room and amenities. The service was also good.
The only flaw is the lack of a kitchen, everything is brand new.

Hotel is about 5mins with car from city center. It smells nice here all the time, there is a common dining room, jacuzzi and is pretty calm. Perfect if u want to have some peace. Big parking for cars.
Pretty new hotel a short drive from Akureyri city. Rooms are very spacious and clean. There's a common kitchen, and laundry room. Hotel will only start to serve breakfast from 1 June. So during our stay, there's no meal served. Overall, I would definitely stay here again.
This clean and tidy, newly renovated hotel is quite empty during the summer season. Since it’s a self-service hotel, there’s no service. However, there’s a 24/7 shared dining hall equipped with some utensils, cutlery, a fridge, and a microwave. There’s also a ski locker and a laundry machine and tumble dryer (both 24/7 and self-service), which are also free. One of our favourite hotels in Iceland.
Parking is convenient and clean. The room is relatively warm and easy to check in. The hotel will inform you of the password in advance, so you don't have to worry about not being able to find the front desk and not being able to check in even if you arrive late.
Hotel is located on a mountain and you get a great view of akureryi city and the mountain view. Conveniently located with nearby supermarkets and restaurants.
The check-in code was given in advance, which was very convenient. Check-in was no problem. The room was clean. There was a snowy mountain outside. It was said to be a ski hotel.

I stayed in this lovely boutique hotel for one night in March. Everything about this property is great. Beautiful rooms, good service and location. The mattresses are quite soft, but 2 nights ago my back gave out. Didn't try the steam or hot tub - maybe next time..
Amazing location, right at the waterfront. Hot tub area is great for northern lights spotting. And extra points for the detailed decor, and homie vibes.

It’s my 50th Birthday and I’m travelling alone….the staff made me feel so welcome and even gave me cake 🥰🥰🥰
I struggled with the door lock mechanism my entire stay. The staff were very helpful, but you could tell this was a constant source of frustration. The room itself was fine. The linen on the bed was super itchy. The towel was nice and thick and soft. I did not use the shower or laundry and I left before breakfast. It was conveniently located and the restaurant was good. I enjoyed the happy hour.
This was such a cosy restaurant/ bar right in the centre of town that had such a friendly atmosphere. We had the reindeer burger - which was absolutely enormous - and the chicken breast as our dinners just before the kitchen closed at 8. The food was very reasonably priced and the portions were so generous that we even got a box for leftovers.

A lovely place to grab a drink and something to eat. Fab atmosphere and decor. Staff were spot on, polite and helpful. Food was lovely, loved the chicken Naan 😋 A good selection of drinks available.
Locals were friendly and humerus. Definitely worth popping in, even if only a watering stop.
Had an amazing time at Akureyri Backpackers Pub! The atmosphere is relaxed, friendly, and full of character — a perfect spot to meet fellow travelers. Drinks are reasonably priced, and the staff are welcoming and attentive. Great music, fun vibes, and a cozy interior make it an ideal place to unwind after exploring Akureyri. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a laid-back, enjoyable pub experience
5* service and 5* food.
Only ate at the restaurant tonight, so can’t comment on rooms. 👍 Bearnaise burger was excellent, perfect Rich and creamy sauce, and the Guinness is great too.

This was an amazing property! Everything about the room was very good. The hot tub made it extra special. We hope to visit Iceland again and see the contrast in Summer and would definitely stay here again!
If I could give this place 10 stars I would! It had a private hot tub as advertised which was wonderful. We saw the Northern lights every night we were here. No tours needed, just look out your window. It was appointed with a kitchen which we used on several occasions to get a break from the food prices lol. Overall a 10 star from me.
Just a nice property with high-end finishes. I would stay again with no question.

This apartment was perfectly located. Right near the heart of Akureyri. We stayed in the basement which is quite compact but was cosy, warm and had everything needed for a short stay. Well equipped kitchen and amenities. Hot shower. Comfy beds and enough room for a family of four to stay. Loved it.

I loved staying here a couple of nights to dodge some Icelandic weather. The owner Gunnar was hilarious (very dry sense of humour) really helpful and friendly, as is his daughter Isabella (apologies for any misspelling). Great service and great room. The owner was awesome! The room was very cute and modern. The shared kitchen and restroom was nice and had everything we needed. The owner helped us get our car out of the snow after the snowstorm. He’s a hero!..haha definitely one of the better places we stayed at this Iceland trip. I will be back.
We had the apartment for 8 pax on the top floor - tiring climb with luggage. There was only one bathroom in the apartment but this seemed to be the norm in Iceland. Equipped kitchen and washing machine in the apartment which were great. Not all the radiators in the apartment worked though. Good location with easy access to shops and eateries.
Great value for this price, everything is VERY clean and tidy, I mean extraordinarily clean, I haven't stayed in such a clean hostel ever before. This "city" guesthouse currently has only one kitchen, but they're finishing another. A single kitchen is actually underrated; fortunately, there was another table set up for breakfast in the basement.
Confusingly this property has 2 names - Acco / Sulur guesthouse. I booked a family room with toilet, my room is spacious, heater works well, wifi is fast, shower is strong but the toilet is weirdly positioned. This place was a little more complicated for our stay. There's no reception on-site, so check-in was really complicated - so complicated, that I had to turn on my phone to call them about how we get inside.
