Hótel Tindastóll in Saudarkrokur

🌍
Iceland, Saudarkrokur, Lindargata 3, 550 Saudarkrokur, Islandiya
● Center: 1.1 km

Guests highlight the friendly and attentive front desk service and helpful staff throughout the hotel. The natural hot springs spa and outdoor hot tub are repeatedly praised as relaxing features after a day of sightseeing. Rooms are described as comfortable and clean, with cozy beds often mentioned positively. The hotel’s restaurant receives compliments for high-quality meals with local ingredients and vegan options. The historic character of the 1820 building adds charm and a unique atmosphere appreciated by many visitors. Thin walls cause noise issues, making earplugs necessary for some guests to sleep well. Several reviews note that some rooms, especially lofts or those in the newer annex, are small and have quirks like low water pressure or awkward bathroom fittings. Stairs to upper floors are steep and narrow, which may be difficult for elderly guests or those with heavy luggage. Breakfast options are described as limited by some guests, and the restaurant ambiance has been criticized as less cozy. The hotel is older and can feel dated, with some guests mentioning squeaky floors and less modern amenities.

We loved staying here. Fabulous service from the front desk. Made to feel right at home. After a big day of walking it was great to relax in the hot tub. The room was very cosy and the bed extremely comfortable. Dinner in the just opened restaurant downstairs was a treat.

Rustic hotel with very thin walls. Impossible to sleep without earplugs when your next door neighbour is snoring! Luckily the earplugs are provided from the hotel and can be found in the room. Nevertheless, not very pleasant if you can hear everything from the next room... The bed, however, was very comfortable and we had a very spacious room. If you have a room on the first floor you might want to pack a small overnight bag. It is quite risky to try to haul a 20+kg big suitcase up these very steep and small stairs. Could become a problem for eldery couples, so better ask for a room where you don't have to take the stairs. Dinner was ok but not exceptional. Breakfast could be better, not much choices. Restaurant in the cellar was not really cosy.

Tremendous hotel! Magical. Lovely geothermal pool. Elegant dining in an epic restaurant setting. Wonderful classic old rooms. Helpful staff. Didn’t want to leave.

Loved the natural hot springs spa which was open till late and then again before breakfast.

We booked two rooms, one of which turned out to be a loft. Both were incredibly small. Not only was the loft room easy to bump your head on, but the bathroom sink was incredibly small and unusable, and the toilet flushed with a puff of water that was completely ineffective. For nearly 2,000 yuan a night, the room wasn't even as good as a 200 yuan room in China. I've never stayed in a hotel this bad in a loft. The only positive point was the bread and butter at breakfast.

A small country home style hotel. I enjoyed my stay there thanks to friendly staffs. The hotel has a small hot spring next to the reception. It is notable that the in-room shower is using hot spring water, which I liked.

Nothing really bad about it, it’s just small with less amenities than usual and is a bit more dated

A lovely hotel, very comfortable, close to eateries and good position for walks etc. Good breakfast and the service was really good.

No comment on the accommodation as we did not stay there. This is a description of the restaurant.

Just the sort of place a story book would imagine on the north coast of Iceland - dark and cosy, comfortable and warming, hunkered down against the weather outside. Superb cooking, with a strong local feel. Comfort food, more elaborate stuff and good-for-you choices too. One of the top three meals on a long and memorable trip around Route 1 (or the Iceland ring). The best eating house in town by far and yes, of course, quite expensive - though worth it.

Be aware this hotel is older, the main building is from 1820, as such it has quirks of older buildings (squeaky floors, thin walls). With that being said, it was very clean and comfortable and a nice change from the usual chain hotels.
