We had the best time at this hotel. We just happened to arrive on the night that they were serving a traditional Iceland christmas dinner and it was amazing. This hotel is in the middle of nowhere, so you'll get a great night's sleep because there's no noise, the person that was at the front desk at the time of our arrival was the most friendly we encountered in all of our time in Iceland and so was the rest of the staff. A nice place to stay. My wife and I stayed here for one night with a tour group. The room was comfortable and clean. There was a full bar serving beer, wine and cocktails. Property was probably dorm rooms. It wasn’t terrible. We didn’t really have occasion to interact with staff. We stayed one night on our loop around Iceland. The town doesn’t have much by way of restaurants. Keep expectations basic.

The room with a private bathroom was clean and sufficient. Its all a bit sterile as its a student dorm. The breakfast was basic. Easy to park and location was convenient.

A dormitory style accommodation and hotel. Rooms are small, inbuilt desk, Lino floors and an even smaller bathroom. Quiet room once everyone has gone to their rooms. Restaurant is more a canteen and extremely noisy when several groups are there due to all the hard surfaces. Staff were genuine and helpful.

It was adequate for a one night stay, dry clean. Rooms are small and bathroom is very small. But it’s a dorm room so to be expected. Breakfast was adequate.

After a long day of driving along the "big loop" , this was actually a nice spot to stop. Rooms were very small, as stated in other reviews. But comfy. Bathroom was clean and did the job with the shower that was fairly large. Good breakfast with basic offerings. Did not eat at the restaurant as it was a bit $$$ for the location.

Hotel Blonduos was a pleasant surprise. Hotel staff were attentive and happy to chat and assist. The apartment we stayed in was fabulous, and would be excellent for a few to several days. The location is quiet, which for us was excellent. If you’re staying in Blonduos, it’s clearly not for the nightlife as it’s a small coastal town, but for us the location is 5 star!

This cozy, comfortable restaurant in the heart of the town offers a relaxed atmosphere. Dinner was delicious and a satisfying dining experience. The beach is within walking distance, making for a pleasant after-dinner stroll. Its convenient location makes it an ideal base for exploring the town and coast.

We did like this hotel very much. The room was spacious and comfortable. The decoration is made with love. The dinner at the restaurant was excellent. The best we had on the trip so far. The dishes were made of fresh ingredients and nicely prepared. The team and the cook informed us about the daily options. We could also change the dishes to our preferences. Lovely hotel on the Ring Road, which was extremely convenient. Room was spacious with a view of mountain in back and neighbor’s house (and greenhouse!). A shop with hand-made items is adjacent by a gas station, which was a fun stop. Breakfast had more options than most others that we experienced, and the elevator was also very convenient.

The rooms are a bit tired. That said, the bed was very comfortable, the breakfast was adequate, and the staff was friendly. Basic accommodations but for one night it was no problem.

We enjoyed our one night stay in June. Yes the place looks a bit older, but we were very happy and comfortable. Staff was excellent and friendly. Breakfast was good. The location was very convenient and the room was comfortable. The only reason I gave one star off for comfort is because our room was directly above the entry door and people hung out below, and it was a little loud at times other than that it was a wonderful experience with delicious food at the restaurant. Rustic hotel with very thin walls. Impossible to sleep without earplugs when your next door neighbour is snoring! Luckily the earplugs are provided from the hotel and can be found in the room. Loved the natural hot springs spa which was open till late and then again before breakfast.

We booked two rooms, one of which turned out to be a loft. Both were incredibly small. Not only was the loft room easy to bump your head on, but the bathroom sink was incredibly small and unusable, and the toilet flushed with a puff of water that was completely ineffective. For nearly 2,000 yuan a night, the room wasn't even as good as a 200 yuan room in China. I've never stayed in a hotel this bad...

A small country home style hotel. I enjoyed my stay there thanks to friendly staffs. The hotel has a small hot spring next to the reception. It is notable that the in-room shower is using hot spring water, which I liked.

With 13 rooms. Only 2 Wc/Shower. One was very small, old, didn't even have proper hooks to hang clothes. Shower didn't drain properly. You were always in 3 " of water from start to finish.

It was a good one night stay for our journey North on our clockwise Route 1 journey. We did a late check-in close to 10pm and found the keys and a map (which could have been clearer) to find our room. We rented an amazing spacious 2 bedroom apartment at a reasonable price.

Easily one of the coolest hostels I've stayed at. For starters, you can have your own room without bunks like a regular hotel. Showers and bathrooms were well kept. The location was epic and staying in a former school was super unique. Definitely will be back!

We went from the Myvatn area to Straw Hat Mountain. We gave up the whale watching trip to Husavik, but the distance to Straw Hat Mountain was a bit long, so we chose this hotel as a transfer. It has a kitchen for cooking, a swimming pool and hot springs, and you can also barbecue!

Wonderful cottage style stay in a midst of grassland. Really love the cottage feel of the place. The owner was very friendly and she was there outside the room waiting for us when we arrived. It is the way best place to stay and drink and the outside area is the best of the best in sauðárkrókur! I would recommend without a doubt!! And the people that run the bar are super nice! Outdooor area is well protected by the wind and is superb.

Friendly and warm service, cozy rooms and very-well located. The next door bar was also charming and had a good selection of local beers. This is an excellent choice for a base of command while exploring everything this area of northern Iceland has to offer.

This is my 2nd time in Iceland and my second stay at these cottages. The location is ideal between the west and the north. The cottages are very nicely appointed and spacious. Was lucky enough to see the Northern lights here 2x now. Horseback riding is offered which I also did and was quite nice, horses are well behaved. Having stayed here twice now I cannot hesitate to recommend these charming...

Cozy apartment in off-grid Iceland. Rooms are practical and it’s situated close to the coast, which makes it the perfect spot for watching the Aurora! We loved staying at this property! The quietness was lovely. The fridge was stocked for breakfast which was appreciated and the hot tub was wonderful after many days of hikes. The only small issue was trying to contact the property. We stayed only one night but we love the place. Family flat is very spacious including a living room and kitchen. Location is quiet but the host Magnus and Celina are super nice. Kids really enjoy the stay especially for the interactions with the horses, dogs and cats on the farm.

This is a farm, far away from everything. So bring your own food and satellite dish for the evening hours (just a kitchen for your own food, wifi only in the shared room)... Or just concentrate on social activities (dogs, board games, looking for the northern lights, jacuzzi).

We stayed here in a 2 person cabin for two nights the first full week of August 2025. The cabin was absolutely lovely and the location was extremely scenic. Everything was clean and felt nice. The water was hot, things weren't too cramped. I have no complaints. The Bakkaflot complex was a smidge confusing and we didn't do anything but stay at night so I have nothing to say about the rest of the area

We booked last minute at 46 because the roads weren’t easy that day to keep driving and it’s located in a cute town where the seals dwell. The house was toasty to welcome us on a snowstorm night, thanks! If your preference is a colder temperature, this is easy to adjust by opening the window. Very good living environment and living conditions, suitable for business trips

It was a beautiful cottage with a river view. They had all the amenities we needed at a very reasonable price. I would definitely recommend this place to families travelling with children.

Charming cabin within the sound of a rushing river. Peaceful despite being part of a larger campground, check in and out were very easy. We only stayed one night so did not get to use either the indoor sauna or back deck hot tub. A little tight for five adults, so if you stay longer than a night or two I don’t recommend a full complement of six.

Stayed at Gladheimar in one of the, one bedroom cabins. Great clean, comfortable and functional self catering facilities, with amenities within walking distance if required. Very helpful owner and Wifi within the cabin great as well, recommend a stay here if travelling in the area

It's ok, but needs some renovation. The rooms are clean, the beds ok. But the shower.... But there is a sauna and a hot pot.

Washrooms could use some updating due to staining and poor ventilation. Everything else was nice.

Ok, in every sense, value for money. The only thing to complain about is the size of the common area, specifically the kitchen is very small for the capacity of the accommodation.

This was such a cute little hostel! The kitchen was very cosy and had everything that someone might need. There were lots of washrooms so never had to wait. The rooms were really cozy and everything was very clean. Will be coming back here on our next trip!

They beds were fine, once you made them. You have to put on your own sheets, pillowcases, and even duvet cover. But for the price it isn't bad. The bathrooms werent awful, but they were kind of dingy and cramped. Also, this place is Farrr from civilization. The closest shop was 40 minutes away.

It was a kind of old building and the interior was outdated as well. We couldn’t use the shades at the window as they were broken - as it never gets dark in summer, it was very unpleasant. It was very clean though but nevertheless, I had superior stays in Iceland for that price, especially as you had to make and strip your own bed. Owner, however, was very friendly.

This is more of a hotel room experience as opposed to a hostel. Well appointed rooms, friendly host and host dog. The only drawback is shared bathroom. For peace and quiet, this is a great choice!

Very nice and wellcomming. Nice kitchen free to use. Good wifi. We had a free room upgrade. Breakfast in the hotel was nice. Nice views from the room and really calm athmosphere. We had the keys and then we were free to get in and out of the house. Furthermore, the housekeeper was very kind and also gave us some advice on our trip. All clean and comfy beads. Totally worth it.

Friendly people, clean rooms, very nice view. Been there with a Baby, was perfect because really quiet! Would recomment it!
