Slept here the first night after arriving. Location between the airport and Reykjavik is great. Although the hotel is situated on a kind of business area, there are restaurants and bars nearby within a 5 min. drive.

The hotel view is perfect. I will say this is a good place for viewing northern light!

Well built and decorated. Very clean, the rooms are warm and comfortable. The one thing I don't like is the breakfast, which is completely cold and quite low end in comparison.

Disappointing first stay at this hotel. Most of the staff were lovely and helpful however there was a man working there who was grumpy, unhelpful and rude. The room was clean and comfortable, perfect for two people. The breakfast was good and hotel staff was friendly and welcoming. I would recommend if you plan on renting a car. It is not as convenient when you depend on the public bus and excursion pickups for transportation.

Our original room experienced a pluming issue on the 1st morning. We were moved straight away no problem. Staff on reception primarily Anna were amazing and extremely helpful, and really help us to enjoy our stay in iceland. Breakfast was a simple buffet style but for the price was ample. Decent location in a very quiet industrial area. Good base for Reykjavik, Blue Lagoon, and the airport. Easy access to get on main roads for south coast day trips and Golden Circle. Nice place to stay for what you spend. Communal kitchen was handy to have and close to the bus stop but 40 minutes from the city. Beds were comfortable and it was nice and warm. Bathrooms could have been a little cleaner.

The guesthouse did the job perfectly for us. It is clean and we'll organized. The kitchen was stocked with the basics for cooking and the breakfast was a nice bonus. Classic guesthouse with comfortable rooms, convenient location to shopping, nice kitchen, chatty but respectful fellow guests. Rules are clearly posted and everyone followed the quiet hours and kept the kitchen spotless. The owner is friendly and gave us great local information. Overall, it was a nice hotel. Breakfast was included and it was reasonably priced. It was a little far from Reykjavik, so it was a 10-minute drive away, which was great because we could see the Northern Lights. However, the room door wouldn't lock.

Nothing worse than a dorm room. I got to the hostel very very early in the morning (around 5am) and the staff in the kitchen let me sit in the restaurant and wait until i could check in at 2pm. The hostel was pretty nice, the staff was helpful but not friendly at all. The kitchen was good, bathrooms clean. The only bad thing is that the beds are so extremely noisy, every time someone change slepping position 'even carefully', all the people inside the room note it. We paid an upgrade to a twin superior and had early access to the room which we were grateful for, following an early flight. Twin superior room was spacious, coffee machine, fridge and kettle provided, bathroom was great. Really comfy beds. Staff were fantastic and breakfast was superb, loads of choice. I think it's great for groups of friends traveling together. For couples, the room might be a bit basic, but the kitchen and laundry facilities are really convenient, making it perfect for a more budget-friendly trip.

It is more like a shared house made into a guest house. Looks and feels kinda old inside, room wasn't cosy. You can't take shower between 11 pm and 7 am. You have to take your shoes off as you enter. It's value for money but don't expect hotel comfort.

The rooms are clean for a budget hotel but the walls are paper thin. I can hear everytime someone takes a poop and when he goes to the shower or uses the tap. There is only 1 bathroom at every floor with the sink, toilet and shower in the same room so it cannot be used concurrently. The hotel was perfectly placed for what we wanted to do, the restaurant downstairs was exceptionally good, great food and friendly service. You could tell the room hadn’t seen any renovations in a long time, and there were what appeared to be dried bogeys on the side of our bed. Also, we had a double bed but with two single duvets - not sure if this is normal in Iceland but was certainly strange.

The rooms have good view of their snow-capped mountains. For now it takes longer though to move from the rooms to the ground floor since the hotel is presently undergoing renovation. Their Grilled restaurant on the top floor has 180 degrees view of the city. It serves good food & wine.

I am 50 and was traveling solo looking for hostel type accommodations and stumbled upon this gem. For me the price was right and accommodations perfect. Housekeeper and owner were very friendly and I got to play with their dog in the backyard. Highly recommend if looking for a nice friendly place to stay very close to all the action’

We stayed here on our final night in Iceland. It was a great location close to the church and walking to just about everything, even BSI bus station if you are going to or from airport. Rooms were very tidy, we had private bathroom too.

This is a self-service hotel, so there's no front desk. However, the facilities are brand new, and the room isn't small. It even has its own parking garage, which makes for a very comfortable stay. The location isn't in the city center, but it's not far either – about a seven or eight-minute drive. Getting around is super convenient, as there's a bus stop right downstairs. Definitely recommended.

My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Guesthouse Galtafell. It was very clean with great amenities and a spacious bathroom. Located just a short walk from the Cathedral, the Baldursbra guesthouse is ideal for the budget traveller, the rooms a quite big, and the room we had a small sink and mirror for brushing you teeth before bed or doing makeup. Stayed at this guesthouse twice. Saw small stains on the bedding both times, maybe time for them to get some new sheets. The room had a bad smell when entering but was okay after airing out. Bathrooms were okay but they only have one on each floor which definitely isn’t enough at peak times. The environment is nice, close to the cathedral and the station, and the service is acceptable.

The small room is simple, but has everything you need. I was especially happy about the large desk. The breakfast was surprisingly good, given that food is quite expensive in Island (only the coffee could be better). The location is great and really close to the heart of the city, but still relatively quiet.
