Hafnarfjordur, Tjarnarvellir 3 (2 km from centre) 🧭 Map
My room was ok. Positive experience, but the rest?
Really great hotel with amazing personnel! Me and my wife we had two nights in Hotel Vellir, we chose it initially because of a great fitness center, by the way - amazing fitness center, way beyond the normal hotel’s level, as an athlete it’s quite important for me. But in addition to a great gym, nice and comfortable rooms. The most notable thing for me is the personnel. All of the people were really...
Great location but limited service, breakfast with fresh bread is yum. No phone in room, room cleaning is poor, have to ask for things. No shampoo conditioner bring your own.
Great hotel. Only problem is if you come after the main reception desk closes, it's a bit tough to enter the building (without a keycard).
WiFi password is wififorguests
It was perfect. We had all the basics. The hotel was clean, nice breakfast selection, staff above and beyond. The Icelandic people are very polite and helpful in general, as were those working here.

The room was clean and comfortable, perfect for two people. The breakfast was good and hotel staff was friendly and welcoming. I would recommend if you plan on renting a car. It is not as convenient when you depend on the public bus and excursion pickups for transportation.
Our original room experienced a pluming issue on the 1st morning. We were moved straight away no problem. Staff on reception primarily Anna were amazing and extremely helpful, and really help us to enjoy our stay in iceland. Breakfast was a simple buffet style but for the price was ample. Would definitely come back and stay again
Lovely little hotel in a great location. Very kindly gave us a lovely upgrade too as we were there to celebrate my 30th!Thank you! Beds are really comfy too. 5 minute walk from several takeaway places & restaurants and a local shop. Easy pickups for Reykjavik Sightseeing day tours too. No restaurant at the hotel but they do a tasty buffet breakfast and have a bar.
We stayed in room 237 and the bathroom smelled like mildew / mold. I think it was coming from the sink. It made the whole room smell. I don’t think it’s healthy to breath in. We had to keep the bathroom door closed so it didn’t stink up the room. The room didn’t come with a hairdryer which is a necessity in Iceland. It’s cold out and wet hair isn’t ideal for cold weather. The free breakfast was good...
Friendly staff were so good to me. I arrived looking like a train wreck after a 9 hour flight and a few hours at the Blue Lagoon still way earlier than my check-in time (like 4 hours early) and the girl at the desk just wanted to help, no attempt to charge an extra day, nothing like that, she let me in my awesome room, asked if I needed anything and let me be. Thank you so much! You made my trip to...
We were given a very tiny room. Just enough space for a 2 person bed, a desk, a small closet - nothing more. I read a review where a guest said they couldn't open up their suitcase because there was no space. I could see that. Luckily we only had backpacks or we would've had the same problem. The room was reasonably clean. Walls are a bit thin. The opening and shutting of doors were very audible from...

We had an early flight which meant we missed breakfast but they kindly made some sandwiches for us to take with us.
Staff was very helpful and friendly, breakfast was always good and plentiful, room was spacious and clean, location was perfect!
Super fun and unique place! The viking decour is awesome. Pricey but it's right downtown and touristy, so it was expected. Room was spacious, comfortable and very clean. Breakfast in the morning is good. Restaurant was super cool! We loved the fish pond in front. :)
The hotel is great, the only downside was that the beds were a bit hard for our taste but breakfast was included, although the same every day, it was great. The location is amazing, only 15 min drive from Reykjavik. Situated at a nice bay with a paved walking trail and the most beautiful sunset. There's a small mall and many coffee shops and some restaurants nearby. There's also a small supermarket...
Staff was very kind and helpful, and the room had comfortable beds, more than one pillow per person which was refreshing, and a very nice bathroom. The room was much smaller than we expected even with the superior room, but it wasn’t an issue for us. Breakfast was delightful and the hotel also has a hot tub and sauna! They have a restaurant on site you can go to for dinner so you don’t have to drive...
The room was good. We got a tiny one but it was just right for the money. The bathroom needs updating. The restaurant was amazing. Amazing! It was a highlight with the wonderful live music and culture songs. I highly recommend it.

Excellent value. With a kitchen available, but bring your own food and coffee powder or tea. Near the city center. Very nice owner who showed us his living room with the nice view. Room on the second floor with a small staircase, so plan a small bag, not like us the big heavy suitcase.
Thank God for that show the house is still feel like that i y you are the only thing I can think y you can get
Great location, great vibe. Clean and quiet
Good nearby Guesthouse in Reykyavik, good cleaning of the rooms and common areas, friendly host and helpful.
Really great guesthouse if you don't mind sharing the bathroom with strangers

Decent location in a very quiet industrial area. Good base for Reykjavik, Blue Lagoon, and the airport. Easy access to get on main roads for south coast day trips and Golden Circle. Beds were comfy, just enough amenities to keep you satisfied. Kitchen is a big plus especially with near by grocery stores. I recommend this place to the person who will be out and about most of the time and is on a budget
Nice place to stay for what you spend. Communal kitchen was handy to have and close to the bus stop but 40 minutes from the city. Beds were comfortable and it was nice and warm. Bathrooms could have been a little cleaner.
The guesthouse did the job perfectly for us. It is clean and we'll organized. The kitchen was stocked with the basics for cooking and the breakfast was a nice bonus. There is free WiFi and free parking on site. It is not close to downtown unless you have a car. Not sure about transit. There is a Kronan grocery store nearby. Overall a good experience, we would stay there again .
Classic guesthouse with comfortable rooms, convenient location to shopping, nice kitchen, chatty but respectful fellow guests. Rules are clearly posted and everyone followed the quiet hours and kept the kitchen spotless. The owner is friendly and gave us great local information. We were very happy to find this affordable (for Iceland) lodging for our 24-hour layover.

Basic guesthouse. Kitchenette very basically equipped - no toaster, only a standalone double cooking platter. Badly soundproofed. Okay for one night when arriving/departing from Keflavik airport. Late check-in worked pretty well with keybox!
The place is clean and well kept. There is plenty of parking. The most impressive thing is the owners who couldn't have been more helpful! From sorting out kettles, letting us put our luggage in the property early to cooking the pizzas we had brought not realising that there was no oven!
Good location, beautiful harbour to walk around, nice and clean, comfortable beds, perfect for what we wanted, very happy! Kitchen has fridge, microwave, electric hobs, pots and pans but no oven and the freezer is tiny - for those planning what food they can cook here.
This place was very neat, kind of like staying in a harbor house (which it is). We found it on AirBnB and was walking distance to the Viking Hotel which is also amazing. There is a neat hot spring gushing out of the harbor along the walk. The only thing bad is the airlines tell you you fly into Reykjavik, but you do not. You are about a 30-40 minute taxi ride from there when you land. We got in at...

Alexander, the manager, is incredibly helpful and a constant ray of sunshine in the hostel. The hostel is clean and well kept. Highly recommended staying here.
Great affordable hostel in a beautiful city with a very nice host. There is a shared kitchen and a washing machine which is handy. There is also a food-share shelf where you can take leftover food from previous travelers. It was a pleasant indoor stop on our otherwise camping trip.
Super friendly staff, great kitchen with fridge, stoves, oven and common kitchen equipment, four showers. The rooms are great and there is a lot of space in the common areas.
The staff was just super friendly and helpful. Campsite and hostel are very clean. And everything was inclusive like washing machine, showers etc. had a great stay!! Clean and nice 👍🏼
Friendly staff, and I honestly can't say that enough! I stayed here in the summertime for 6 nights. I relied on public transit to get around. I give this hostel a 4 because of: 1. Location- Be aware that this hostel is a 45 minute bus ride outside of Downtown Reykjavik, and if you are relying on busses, this limits how long you can stay out for. 2. Cleanliness- Could be much cleaner. 3. Rooms- Beds...
This Hostel is a great place where you can have a very good holiday.

Vibrant Iceland Hostel is a cheap, but still valuable, hostel just right at the gates of Reykjavik (10 minutes driving from the very inner city). The Check-in is perfect and even guests that arrive late in the evening can come in thanks to a code provided by the staff. I found the hostel very clean, the kitchen is well furnished and well organized, the bathrooms (placed both in the first and second...
This place was really clean for a hostel but it was a bit expensive (it's Iceland though so it's to be expected) and the towels had to be rented. There is a lovely big shared kitchen where you can label your own groceries and a great community room with many chairs and clean facilities. The rooms have 3 bunks in them so just beware of other people (especially romantic couples). Really great overall...
The hostel is somewhat self-reliant. The beds were simple and comfortable and the toilets were spacious, clean and offers hot water. The location is nearby to some of the supermarkets, but we bought most of our stuff at the supermarkets that were nearer to the International airport. Overall, it was a good and affordable stay for short-term stays near the city, provided you have a rented car with...
Wonderful hostel to stay in, the beds allow for a lot of privacy and darkness (especially in the summer!) The kitchen is fully equipped and the free coffee was a really nice bonus! The best part about this hostel was the cleanliness, and the large showers. The staff members were all very helpful, and generally friendly. The only downside is that its far away from downtown Reykjavik, but the city bus...
Great hostel! The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were an interesting set up, 4 double sized bunk beds with curtains to help with Iceland’s constant light in the summer. Full kitchen with anything you would need plus room for you to site your food. Only downside is that there were no lockers to lock your things away. Luckily we had a car so we kept all our valuables on our bunk while...
