Hafnarfjordur, Sudurgata 18 (in the centre) 🧭 Map
I stayed here during a week-long conference in Hafnarfjörður and absolutely loved it. The place was comfortable and the hostess is the sweetest!! I also recommend visiting the nearby public swimming pool Suðurbæjarlaug, which is just a 10min walk away.
This hostel experience was so comfortable that u barely notice u are in a hostel. The kitchen is very well equiped and spacious. Rooms are tidy with ventilators and curtains that block the midnight sun. The receptionist Wael was super friendly and helpful. The bus station from which access the bus to the city is in a walking distance.
Overall, it is a good and budget-friendly stay (3.5/5). The location is excellent — close to the airport with many restaurants nearby, which is very convenient. The hostel has shared bathrooms and a shared kitchen! The only downside was that the room was too hot, and unfortunately, we couldn’t switch to another one. However, the owner kindly provided an extra fan, which helped a bit!

Friendly staff, free wifi, kitchen has plenty of cooking ware (but is a bit crowded at dinner time). Place is clean, for the price amazing. A grocery store is close and there is a fridge you can use when labeling your food. The place has a piano, plenty of tables and chairs and even a few couches. The doors for the rooms are locked with keypads so no key is needed and checkout is very easy.
We changed our plans to stay on Reykjanes peninsula in our camper due to high winds the night before our flight home, stayed at lava instead for shelter. Really great campsite, good toilets showers washing machine. Pre booking online advised as it fills up fast. Hostel adjoining had food share facility which was great for the end of our week
Alexander, the manager, is incredibly helpful and a constant ray of sunshine in the hostel. The hostel is clean and well kept. Highly recommended staying here.
Great affordable hostel in a beautiful city with a very nice host. There is a shared kitchen and a washing machine which is handy. There is also a food-share shelf where you can take leftover food from previous travelers. It was a pleasant indoor stop on our otherwise camping trip.
Super friendly staff, great kitchen with fridge, stoves, oven and common kitchen equipment, four showers. The rooms are great and there is a lot of space in the common areas.
The staff was just super friendly and helpful. Campsite and hostel are very clean. And everything was inclusive like washing machine, showers etc. had a great stay!! Clean and nice 👍🏼

Vibrant Iceland Hostel is a cheap, but still valuable, hostel just right at the gates of Reykjavik (10 minutes driving from the very inner city). The Check-in is perfect and even guests that arrive late in the evening can come in thanks to a code provided by the staff. I found the hostel very clean, the kitchen is well furnished and well organized, the bathrooms (placed both in the first and second...
This place was really clean for a hostel but it was a bit expensive (it's Iceland though so it's to be expected) and the towels had to be rented. There is a lovely big shared kitchen where you can label your own groceries and a great community room with many chairs and clean facilities. The rooms have 3 bunks in them so just beware of other people (especially romantic couples). Really great overall...
The hostel is somewhat self-reliant. The beds were simple and comfortable and the toilets were spacious, clean and offers hot water. The location is nearby to some of the supermarkets, but we bought most of our stuff at the supermarkets that were nearer to the International airport. Overall, it was a good and affordable stay for short-term stays near the city, provided you have a rented car with...
Wonderful hostel to stay in, the beds allow for a lot of privacy and darkness (especially in the summer!) The kitchen is fully equipped and the free coffee was a really nice bonus! The best part about this hostel was the cleanliness, and the large showers. The staff members were all very helpful, and generally friendly. The only downside is that its far away from downtown Reykjavik, but the city bus...
Great hostel! The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were an interesting set up, 4 double sized bunk beds with curtains to help with Iceland’s constant light in the summer. Full kitchen with anything you would need plus room for you to site your food. Only downside is that there were no lockers to lock your things away. Luckily we had a car so we kept all our valuables on our bunk while...

Very clean place far away from the city centre. The beds have no curtains but they are provided with a little lamp and a plug. Several toilets available and a short front desk opening times. I had left my luggage in the morning and the reception was locked since 4pm so I needed to dial from a foreign nr so I could collect my luggage. The staff was very kind but I would have appreciated more information...
Great place. Very good quality / price relation. For relatively good price you will get a place to stay in very good location im Reykjavik. Short walk to The city center, bus station right around the corner. Hostel offers shared kitchen with everything you may need and multiple bathrooms.
Excellent location very good service everything nice tidy and very respectfull staff
This hotel is excellent! Even though it has shared bathrooms, they are very convenient and clean. The kitchen is fully equipped, allowing us to make breakfast and simple stir-fries for lunch. We plan to stay here again after returning our rental car.
Best location in the central area, walking distance to most attractions in Reykjavik, and easy access to buses going to Keflavik airport. The private bedroom was overall good, bright room with large window, cabinets, and sound insulated. Although the restrooms are shared with other guests, they're clean and well maintained and easy access from the room. There's also a shared kitchen where guests can...
Everything about this hostel is amazing. I have done memories of the stay, and I wanna go back. The place is spotless, quiet and super comfy. The front desk lady has amazing taste in music and will make you feel right at home. The kitchen was the most eventful place and I made a few friends there. Absolutely loved this place.

Great location! Room was comfortable enough. Shared female restroom need some throughout cleaning as the mildew is all over the showers. It is very hard to get a good night of sleep with people in and out slamming the main door. The shared kitchen is a good idea but could use some cleaning. Also when I booked it said that luggage store was provided free but apparently to be safe you have to get paid...
The staff are super friendly and helpful. Though a bit out of town, it is close to the bus terminal for airbus. Taking a bue to city centre is also easy and convenient. Student canteen and bar provide good food at lower price. Good value for money.
Great place, it needs some improvements The place was amazing and the staff was very friendly. I wish the rooms would come with body wash and shampoo, or at least offer the option to buy a small bottle of body wash and shampoo at a reasonable price. I had to buy a big bottle from the store that I ended up using it twice and then throwing an almost full bottle into the garbage because I can't fly back...
Beds were comfy, kitchen and hallways were very nice. Our room was assigned wrong originally but they were very helpful and upgraded us to a private bathroom. The shower flooded the bathroom with no mat and we only had 1 towel each, so we weren't able to dry the floor, but other than that we would definitely stay again.
Nice find. Really nice student hostel within walking distance of central Reykjavik. Clean, warm, comfortable. One niggle - I could have benefitted from two pillows but this is a small thing and didn’t detract from the overall experience. I’d definitely stay here again. One piece of advice. It’s not obvious from the map where the hostel is. I walked right past it and saw other people do the same...
Good stay! Room was a great location for touring the downtown cheaply. Included free parking just a short walk away. Would definitely recommend if in the area. Only issue we had was the shower drain didn't work well.

Galaxy Pod Hostel, Reykjavik1 / 30Good price

Reykjavik, Laugavegur 172, Hlidar (in the centre) 🧭 Map
I have booked this pod for my trip in Reykjavik in 2019. I am really sad that it is temporarily closed because it is an awesome place to stay: from the unique pod feature (which is super safe and cool - and trust me you won't feel claustrophobic), great location, awesome staff, all the way to a cool wall feature with all the guests' signature on it. I've made friends and nice memories and I hope it...
The idea of the pods is amazing, they give you almost the privacy of a private bedroom (except noise-wise), but at the price of a dorm bed. Staff was kind. Price was great. I appreciate they sell some snacks, so you don't have to go out if you are just a bit hungry and have no food. Ok location. The reception has nice couches and a great view.
Not enough space for baggage in the room. The kitchen is too small. Half of the showers don't work. But location is excellent.
We tried it because the pods looked fun and a bit more private than a typical hostel. There were more than enough toilets for the amount of guests, and they seemed to be very clean. The pods did not seem to lock at all but would still recommend for the experience.
Great location, quirky concept, but has gone downhill a bit since I last visited 4 years ago. Not just as fresh and more of a hostel feel than it used to have. Maybe just because it was peak season, but the pods don't lock anymore, the TVs weren't working properly, they don't offer headphones so I could never use the TV as I had wireless headphones. It was fine, but not as amazing as I remembered.
We stayed here overnight and enjoyed our time here. It was very clean and quiet, even in the day. The walls are cool with everyone’s signatures. There is a kitchen to cook/store your food or leave it for someone else. The common area has a great vibe. Free wi-fi. There are small lockers for carry-on sized bags, but checked bags sit unlocked in the room. Our stuff was safe and nobody messed with it...

Located in downtown Reykjavik, this little hostel still offers you a quiet environment for your stay. The owners are nice and friendly and also very caring about you. They offer you a bed in a small, clean building, which definitely is the best value for money you can get. I very much recommend you staying a few nights there!
Hostel is very small. And rooms are very bright and muggy in the evening. It was one of the cheaper options so I guess you get what you pay for, but there are no common areas so people tend to hang out and be loud in the sleeping area. Also no hreakfast. Wouldn't stay again, and I am a budget traveler.
Fabulous location, affordable cost considering every other place in Reykjavik. The managers who work there are so accommodating and very friendly. Very clean facilities, and has a kitchen and fridge that every guest is free to use. Highly recommend staying here, especially for anyone on a budget.
This is one of the friendliest places I've ever stayed. The owners work hard to ensure that everyone feels welcome and give some excellent travel advice for exploring Iceland. Because of this wonderfully welcoming atmosphere making friends and getting to know people. I'd recommended this hostel to anyone. It is spotlessly clean, accessible, and in a great location.
Great little hostel in the heart of Reykjavik. Run by the nicest family who's personal touch makes you feel at ease. Lots of bathrooms and they keep the place extremely clean. If you are looking to a nice hostel experience then stay here.

Stayed here for 5 days during my recent to Iceland. Its very chic and comfy! Our room had a great view of the church! The staff are super friendly and helpful! Its affordable and quiet for a hostel. Highly recommend! (Do bring shower shoes for the shared showers tho. The bathrooms get a little icky after a lot of use).
This hostel ranks among the worst I've experienced in Europe. The 4th floor is supposed to have hairdryers. On my first day, I asked the front desk and they said one should be there but it had 'disappeared'. They had spares, but never restocked them, so I had to go down and borrow one every time. Once, they even lent me two broken ones in a row. In the restrooms, I'd find one out of three stalls...
This place is amazing, book here if you're going to Reykjavik. When we arrived I accidentally booked a day late but the receptionist immediately helped me fix it and even though we were like 4 hours early for check in they let us into our room! We booked a double room but got a free-of-charge upgrade. Both rooms had TVs and they were great. This hostel is right in the city centre and it's on the seafront...
On my very first day, I bought a pizza without realizing there wasn’t actually an oven 😅 Instead of letting me feel awkward or disappointed, the person at reception immediately noticed and kindly showed me an alternative way to sort it out. That small, thoughtful moment really stood out. Great atmosphere, great people, and unforgettable energy. You meet so many like-minded solo travellers and somehow...
A very... unique experience, my first time staying in a youth hostel. There were 2 guys and 2 girls, each from a different country. I wouldn't recommend bringing large suitcases, as there's not much space to open them in the room and the aisles are quite narrow. It's a good idea to bring disposable bedding (sheets, duvet cover, pillowcase) and a lock for the locker.
It was better than we expected, friendly staff, clean amenities, spacious room, kitchen was provided as well, knowing everything is so expensive in Iceland, we can’t avoid to prepare our own food while getting ingredients from supermarket nearby. We’vecaught our first northern light in our life at the hostel nearby as well! Everything seems so perfect!

Hi Eco Hostel has a great atmosphere for all ages, we found it a lovely place to meet people and enjoyed the cafe bar and kitchen areas. Our superior double room was very comfortable on our first stay, but the double room was less comfortable and it was really noisy on Friday night, so we wouldnt choose it again on a weekend. But on other nights, it is an ideal place to meet people.
Wow! I really loved this location and the community was great! I have stayed at multiple hostels in my travels so I am familiar with shared spaces. I stayed in the 8 room female dorm with a shared bathroom. They provide ear plugs and all the guests I encountered were courteous. The price was phenomenal for all of the amenities. I used the kitchen daily and loved all of the community space to hang out...
Beautiful and friendly hostel. Rooms are cleaned daily. Very friendly staff. The owner is lovely and has a beautiful dog. The bar area is a plus, full of sofas, chairs, and all kinds of games. Last but not least, a magnificent terrace overlooking the main street downtown. The kitchen is open 24/7. Super central location.
Alicia as very productive and she helped us in a very professional manner she was amazing at her work,We was with our friends and could see that she was very talented and make our time So special! Thank you Alicia !
The location is excellent, with easy access to food options and shops. I stayed in an 8-bed female dorm, and the room was very spacious with its own private bathroom and a hairdryer provided. However, the storage space is insufficient, and there is no bedside reading light for each bed, which would have improved comfort. The common area is large and very impressive, offering plenty of space to relax...

The room was a good size and very clean. The only slightly negative thing was not enough coat hangers but other than that, a great stay
The bed was comfortable and the room warm however there is no cooking facilities and my apps. wouldn't recognise the old TV nor were there free to air availability. Location was good, staff inattentive though.
Close to dining ,shopping ,.. clean comfortable room easy check in and check out small refrigerator, electric kettle, coffee maker that wr didnt use good communication
Very nice guesthouse with excellent, service oriented staff. Functional kitchen, amenities and clean common areas.
Towels were provided in the room but it is shared toilets. Things were generally clean but quite worn. Communication from the property was prompt and in advance which was good.

its big. the nights we were there the kitchen area turned into a lot of fun. A bunch of people trying to cook in, and have a few drinks to save money turned into a big group out on the town.
Probably the cheapest accommodation in whole Iceland and the equipment is accordingly. The rooms consisted of concrete floor, 4 walls, one jacket rack and beds. No table, no chair and nothing else. This is fine though, since you get what you pay for. The comon area is spacious and the kitchen has everything that you need for simple meals. Super close to downtown Reykjavík
very nice and quiet just outside the downtown. bit of a walk to the busy downtown area of Reykjavik, but if you don't mind that then its worth saving for a less crowded and easy going area. Plus side it was closer to larger stores you may want supplies from (big grocery/costco/etc) and it was easier to hit the road to drive out to tour different sites. Decent location in a very quiet industrial area. Good base for Reykjavik, Blue Lagoon, and the airport. Easy access to get on main roads for south coast day trips and Golden Circle. Beds were comfy, just enough amenities to keep you satisfied. Kitchen is a big plus especially with near by grocery stores. I recommend this place to the person who will be out and about most of the time and is on a budget
Nice place to stay for what you spend. Communal kitchen was handy to have and close to the bus stop but 40 minutes from the city. Beds were comfortable and it was nice and warm. Bathrooms could have been a little cleaner.
The guesthouse did the job perfectly for us. It is clean and we'll organized. The kitchen was stocked with the basics for cooking and the breakfast was a nice bonus. There is free WiFi and free parking on site. It is not close to downtown unless you have a car. Not sure about transit. There is a Kronan grocery store nearby. Overall a good experience, we would stay there again .
Classic guesthouse with comfortable rooms, convenient location to shopping, nice kitchen, chatty but respectful fellow guests. Rules are clearly posted and everyone followed the quiet hours and kept the kitchen spotless. The owner is friendly and gave us great local information. We were very happy to find this affordable (for Iceland) lodging for our 24-hour layover.
