The welcome and courtesy of the owner Francesco (along with his cuddly little cat Lilly and the rest of the staff) were impeccable. The detailed information for visiting Matera was very helpful and appreciated. The exquisite dinner, featuring simple, traditional dishes, was especially noteworthy, but extremely tasty and high-quality. For those lucky enough to live in Matera, we highly recommend trying the property's restaurant.

A nightmare experience. At 4:00 PM, the rooms weren't ready. Registration was done on a piece of paper. After an hour, nothing had changed. There was no electricity or water due to a storm. The food on the tables had been sitting there for days. The rooms were horrible. Luckily, we managed to find another place and escaped that hovel. Our deposit was never refunded. Highly discouraged. Stay away.

Very creepy place and experience,
I arrived and found a completely abandoned place, very creepy, no one welcomed us and that night we had to drive 5 hours looking for a place to stay, it was the most horrible experience I have ever had in my life.

All in all, pretty good, except for the heat. The air conditioning didn't cool the entire room, and it was scorching hot. There was mold in the bathroom. The only positive note was the owner, who gave us excellent tips for visiting Matera. The breakfast was good.

We had lunch with dear Mr. Francesco, the owner of the Terra dei Sassi establishment... a very annoying, presumptuous, and talkative person. The place is rundown, time has stood still since the 1980s, not to mention the poorly maintained garden and courtyard in front of the establishment. The waiter was confused... for every request, he had to go count the sausages and pork loin in the kitchen... When asked what was in the appetizer... his answer was "an appetizer." The wait was very long... with the owner mocking us as he boasted about his own dishes. The final surprise was the bill...

Unfortunately, I didn't have a great time in this hotel... Luckily, I only stayed one night, but honestly, this hotel isn't that great... The room was very basic and didn't even offer soap to wash my hands (I had to use the sachet with the shower gel inside). The fridge was disconnected and the bathroom was really tiny. Furthermore, to visit the Sassi, you have to take the car and move around since the hotel is located at the Matera Sud exit. The only positive thing was the kindness and politeness of Mr. Franco.
