I had a really nice stay at this hostel. The volunteers and staff were very friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere was welcoming. The tour with Spyro’s was especially great, very informative and interesting, and it helped me understand the city much better. The accommodation itself was very good for the price. If you’re just looking for a comfortable place to stay with everything you need and a good roof over your head, this place is a great option.

I was able to stay at this hotel for one night. It was a lovely stay! The location is absolutely perfect. It’s a 10-minute walk from the port (and therefore the Genoa Aquarium) and also from Piazza Ferrari. The rooms were clean, and so were the beds! I highly recommend it. Thank you.

Everything was absolutely great! The hostel has an incredibly friendly and cheerful staff — everyone smiles, helps with any question, and speaks good English.
Breakfast is free and includes cereal with milk and toasts. There are three bathrooms with showers.
The kitchen is very well equipped — you can cook anything you want! There are all kinds of utensils: spatulas, spoons, forks, knives, cutting boards, pots, pans, spices, cups, and plates.
There are lockers with locks, Wi-Fi, and even a personal city guide with recommendations of what to see — that really surprised me in a good way!
The only small minus is that the beds, doors, and lockers squeak a bit, so I felt a little uncomfortable making noise for other guests.
But for this price, I totally recommend it to everyone — it’s right in the heart of the city, you can easily walk to any attraction, and there’s also a nearby bus stop for long-distance trips!

What a great hostel to stay at - especially for younger people! Very nicely located, rooms were clean, free breakfast and the atmosphere was just so nice! Met great people there that I hung out with during my stay. An unforgettable experience:) definitely recommend it for any solo traveler!

Great stay at Manena Hostel!
I stayed at Manena Hostel and had a really good experience. The place was very clean and well-kept—especially appreciated how they dedicate time between 11:00 AM and 1:30 PM for cleaning, which keeps everything fresh.
The rooms had fans, which helped a lot in the summer heat. Just note: the lockers need a small padlock, but you can easily get one at reception with a €5 deposit.
The location is excellent—right in the heart of Genoa’s city center, and you can walk to many attractions. I even walked to the beach (about 1 hr 15 mins), though public transport can get you there in under 30 minutes.
Staff were great—especially the young cute Italian girl at reception, who was very helpful with directions and local tips, and a Polish volunteer who helped out around the hostel. Has a nice kitchen to cook food as well.
Overall, a clean, friendly, and well-located hostel that I’d definitely recommend.

The staff is wonderful, polite, friendly, and very kind. Everything is very clean, and the beds are comfortable. They speak several languages and are very good at explaining everything, even giving you information about Genoa. 100% recommended. I really enjoyed the experience.

IT IS CLEAN, OLD BUILDING, BREAKFAST DOES NOT EXIST, YOU HAVE TO MAKE YOUR OWN COFFEE, THE CROISSANTS ARE HORRIBLE, DISAPPOINTED WITH WHAT THEY CALL BREAKFAST BUT THEY ARE KIND, FEW TRAVELERS AND NO NOISE IN THE IMMEDIATE SURROUNDINGS. IN CONCLUSION I DO NOT RECOMMEND IT, THERE ARE BETTER ONES FOR THE SAME PRICE.

When we arrived the staff were so friendly and chatty! Check in was smooth but we didn’t get a lot of information. We weren’t given any keys at all which was strange. The door to the room could be open by anyone staying at the hostel. The lockers were quite big and were locked with a padlock which the hostel could provide if you didn’t have one. The beds were comfy and had a light but you didn’t get a plug for each bed and needed to share an extension cord with the person on the bottom bunk. There was a table also to put your belongings. Also only the bottom bunk got curtains for privacy which was quite inconvenient. The toilets were good and had a shower in them also. The kitchen was alright. The hostel provided free breakfast from 8-10am which was really good! One thing that was very inconvenient was they shut the hostel from 11-1:30pm for cleaning. So we weren’t allowed in the toilets or in our room for nearly 3 hours. We were only allowed in the common room which caused our day to come to a halt as we just needed to jump into the room to get some stuff and then go out. When we went back into the room it didn’t seem clean as there were marks on the floor and it looked the same as it did when we left it. The staff stayed in the dorm room with you which was also odd. We missed check out because we got our dates mixed up and the staff were so nice about it and let us leave our bags to get later on also which was great! The location was great as it was near everything and not a far walk from the train station. Overall, I wouldn’t go back but would recommend to others for the staff and the location.

I didn't stay at the hostel, but the tour itself is connected to various hotels. My friend and I saw Spyros and the tour and asked if we could join - which he accepted right away! The tour lasts for about 4-5h and you hear about the history and see so much of Genova. Spyros is an incredibly talented speaker and very passionate about this city. The tour is in English, but he speaks 4 languages! We're so glad we've experienced this. A 10/10. At the end of the tour, you can leave a tip (which we all did), but you don't have to.

I stayed one night and I have got absolutely no complaints. Everything was more or less clean, people respected your privacy, beds were comfortable, there was even free breakfast and you could store your luggage after checkout, a pleasant surprise. I probably won't come back, because I have seen enough of Genova but if you visit the city you should definitely stay here!
